We thrived in relationship to other states. Celebrities flocked her. Politicians vacationed here. The wealthy are moving here. Corporations are relocating here. No state payroll tax. So anyone under 65 would carry the tax burden? For decades, social security is paying out more than it's receiving. Starting with Millennials, there's a beneficiary cut of 20-30%. As an example, John, who is 28 year old now, is paying a higher property tax (because seniors are exempted), and expected to receive less from SS than his father did. To make ends meet, John has little choice but to be on welfare programs (paid by other tax payers), or search for higher wages (which causes inflation rate higher) that he can stay afloat until he dies.

I've lived in Florida for 23 years, and I honestly don't notice much of a difference between DeSantis and previous governors. It all seems like smoke and mirrors. Unless the governor tackles an issue directly impacting your life, you might see some changes, whether good or bad. But in reality, I don't see any significant difference.

@@aquarianhealer Absolutely, and it's been this way for over 30 years. The trend hasn’t diminished because Florida was known as a cheaper alternative to California. DeSantis isn't as effective as he or his supporters claim, but perception can be powerful. People can drive around and think crime is down in Florida simply because they don't see it happening, but that was the reality even before DeSantis took office.
I think it's interesting, though, that native Floridians often don't realize how strict and numerous the laws and regulations are here. If you pull back the curtain, you'll see there's a ton of regulation-it's definitely not as free as advertised.

I am a fan of separating the panhandle with Florida because we get nothing but scraps and projects obsolete when they are finished. We need to be an independent state.

From what we understand is there are no plans to initiate the roads, schools etc…. But they like that money tho. Horse capital of the world. Not anymore.
