@@datpotat3945 based on my knowledge as an animation student for a year. Both animation were actually really expensive to do, depending on what direction that they went
I mean, hand drawn animation were really hard to do perfectly. Even you can do the same thing in digital, it’s still labour intensive... at least a bit cheaper as you don’t have to deal with to many wasted materials like paint and animation cells. But that would be really good for collectors.
Unless if you with that flash animation which.... that stuff were really cheap, like.... you get the idea there a tons of flash animator that still working today....
let’s see about 3D animation..... uuuh depends on what direction it is for that movie, some would use motion tracking, some went crazy as making a real scale rig just for that specific scene and so many other stuff. It just nuts
Is it me or is there a slight difference between the animation for humans + the city and the wolves, mebh ( and then Robyn )?
It's in the sense that the human characters including Robyn in the beginning are more clean and have defined lines meanwhile for the wolves, Mebh and, later on Robyn, the lines are more smooth and numerous like they directly come from pencils, especially with the wolves where you can sometimes see the construction lines for them like in 0:58.
I think, it is supposed to be representing their alignements more subtlely with, on one hand, the orderly and "clean" human side, and on the other side, you have the more unruly and wild woods..
They actually address this in the NY comic con interview, how they chose to have a different “feel” between both worlds, the forest is more organic and fluid, while the town is more clean and organized.

Did I just watch wolf walkers? Yes. Did I cry every 5 minutes? Yes. Were they sad tears? Yes. Were they happy tears? Yes. Did I cry because some scenes were just beautiful animated? Yes I did.
Like goodness me, I have never once been so astonished by a film like that. I was crying every dam 5 minutes and had to have multiple pause breaks just so I could have a break down of sobbing.

This just reminds me how wolves are given a bad reputation and hunted down to nearly extinction in so many countries. It's a sad thing, even more when people say "But they're killing my sheep!" Yeah, they're doing it for survival, you should learn to protect your livestock in a way that's both safer for your sheep and that you don't harm any wolves doing so.
They can get livestock guardian dogs too. Some large breeds won't seek to kill the wolves, just bark and scare them away. (if properly trained and from a good working line)

I just finished watching and I cried on and off throughout the whole movie. The BEST animation/ storyline/ music I’ve seen in a long, LONG time! My 4 year old usually doesn’t sit through an entire movie and she sat and watched every single second and didn’t move! I’m so happy this was created. 🐺

Reminds strongly of Brave (not that I´m complaining): Merida desperately trying to protect her mother turned into a bear from her bear hunting father. Simultaneously it´s one of my dreams to be able to turn into a wolf and back. Ergo, autobuy as soon as the DVD comes out.

Basically, the main girl and her father are wolf hunters and come to Ireland to wipe out the last remaining pack. :p That's what I've gathered, at least, from the stuff I've seen about this film so far. ^^
I'm really excited for it to come out! Loved Song of the Sea, can't wait to see this! (But yeah, that's why I think it's Irish. I could be wrong, of course, so my apologies if I am. ♡ They seem to like basing a lot of their work in Ireland and Irish folklore, it seems? 🤔 Again, I'm probably wrong, but it seems that way from their previous two works that have followed these lines... xD)
@@DarkendSchoolGirlGua well I’m American and have only ever visited Ireland, but Mebh’s voice reminds me of Merida’s voice from brave, who is Scottish. I’m just basing my assumption off of that connection and the fact that the Irish accent sounds a little smoother. Then again I’ve never personally talked to someone with a Scottish accent so this is all theory lol.

That concept is quite similar to the one written by Robert Jordan many years ago in his Wheel of Time series. One of the main characters, Perrin Aybara, has the ability to communicate and talk with wolves, and even change into one in his "wolf dreams".
In fairness - there is Irish/celtic mythology around wolves - including people turning into them but it's usually for 7 years on/off or something 🤷♀️

The wolves depicted would be European wolves, which are significantly larger and heavier than North American timber wolves.
They also learned to see mankind as a source of food, which is something the North American wolf never learned.
So the whole "Wolves never attack humans" is true here in the US and Canada, NOT in Europe. In case you're wondering why they were wiped out so viciously.

Just finished watching this and it is unbelievably beautiful. Not since “The Last Unicorn” have I been moved by a cartoon movie like this. Goosebumps from start to finish , an outstanding soundtrack , great voice acting and a story that is heart melting. The animation style reminded me of the “Don’t starve “ video game. I really hope this gets the attention it deserves. Wonderful entertainment ❤️

I am fortunate to live near one of the few theaters that is showing this. Saw it yesterday. It blew me away! This is a truly beautiful film! A masterpiece! It ranks up there with some of my all-time favorite animated classics like Secret of Nimh. Anyone who misses it is missing out.
This movie is one of a kind... A masterpiece ❤️. I'm 27 years old and people say I watch cartoon still but they don't know the beauty of animation. I was kinda worried about the 2D animation but when the story is so awesome you barely feel it as an animation. 😍 Movie felt like I was with them, one of those wolves, running along with them there, in those woods and story passed by so fast. I wanted more of it. Infact, there were few scenes I had tears in my eyes. 😢🙏🏽❤️

Absolutely wonderful movie. The animation style took a bit of getting used to, but it gave the whole movie its own stylistic feel that could never be replicated in any other style.

I have to say this quickly became my favorite movie not only because it was a good base and script, but because of the art style. Great job
This is really interesting to me because one time in history people started killing of wolfs because they simply didn’t like them and sometimes the wolf’s would attack and kill some of the people’s animals. So after killing off most of the wolf’s the whole ecosystem completely went downhill as the elk population grew without wolf’s to keep it in control and the elk destroyed the whole ecosystem. From what I know there were some people who say this and took some of the wolf’s and started protecting them so they could start breeding again and fix what happened. I’m pretty sure this also happened in Yellowstone.
Yes this did happen in Yellowstone, and I believe the wolves had only recently been reintroduced, in the last 10 or so years...
Wich is sad,i mean these are suvirvors of the great ice age and even that they are still being killed overtime.
@@gustavowendell7937 Yes, I'm not from the US myself, or any place where wolves wander for that matter... Why did people start mass hunting them? Was it just because they were killing livestock?
I know I am not the person you asked but I did some research for the answer to your question and I found that when people came to Yellowstone they brought their cattle with them. And to the wolves the cows were a new food source as well as a good food source and easier to catch. The people saw that the wolf’s were causing a problem for them and they must’ve felt threatened by the wolf’s so they hunted the wolves. I know this isn’t a bright spot in Yellowstone but it helped shed some light for people to see what happens in the world when, even a dangerous and scary predator dies off it effects its whole entire ecosystem which causes even more problems. A way to see it is that the predators are the guardians and peacekeepers of their economic home, while taking what they need while also saving the rest for later so it can reproduce and grow more for
them to do it all over again.
