That's the final Broadway cast. This recording is from the cast change day. Aaron and Bobby had already left a while before, Alice and Jenn's last performance was on July 18. But Louis stayed!
Voice of Jayson Danieley was so remarkably fits in this character and realy suits in that song. Whoever singing, Everytime hear that song the voice of him always pops up in my head.
Gosh I just love this musical! Its so nice to see the replacment cast because i'm so used to seeing the original and seeing how this one is changed and they did really good!
Spoilers for "Next to Normal" incoming. The guy sitting on the chair is called Dan. His wife, Diana, has suffered psychologically for about 18 years ever since their son died as an infant. Among other things, she occasionally believes the child is still alive. The young man we see here is her hallucination of him as he might have been grown up in the present day. This scene is from near the end of the play. Diana decides to leave Dan in order to figure out her life. Heartbroken, Dan is forced to confront the fact that he, too, has been haunted by his son's death. When he turns to look at the young man, it's the first time he acknowledges his "presence" in the entire play. And when he speaks his name, "Gabe", it's the first and only time it's spoken.
I believe that Aaron Tveit was better because when Gabe was singing that he was holding I felt like it was sincere and sad, but when this guy did it I felt like it was aggressive and a bit rougher.
Well, I think it would definitely depend on the actors playing Gabe and Dan too. The guy who plays Dan here is a lot calmer/hopeful through the show I think than the original, who always seems to be right on the edge, so maybe the aggressiveness was good for his character to finally take notice of Gabe. For the original, the softness of Gabe to be recognized by Dan catches him off guard and gets through to that version better, because he's not countering anger with anger.
@@kristenfuller6847 No, you're good I have somehow stumbled back into a mild obsession with this musical so I just thought I'd contribute my overanalyzed take
Really? That's Kyle Dean? Guess I should've known that. It just didn't really look like him lol! And yes I meant your username. It refers to the Inheritance Cycle, yes?

One of the most heartbreaking scenes in musical theater history. Thanks for sharing.
Rest In Peace, you gift of god
I've taken to having a Kleenex box right by the computer for moments like these.
The Strangest Mist I often keep tissues by my computer too, albeit, for somewhat dissimilar reasons.
I felt His singing is so real and full of emotions
awww You can hear sniffles from the audience! And no wonder, since this is a very touching scene!
I was at one of these performances. Omg Kyle was so freaking awesome!!!!!!
One of the best I've watched
