Too many EXO MVs don't have translations because of old videos. You can watch the translated video after watching the MV, we don't have a problem with the long duration 😊😊
I wasn't a fan of ballads before EXO. I'm sure there are others who do them well, but for me EXO make ballads sincere, warm and calming. They are simply beautiful. It was great to hear you giving reasons for why that might be so.

I'm a born and bred American who fell into the Kpop hole around 2006....I was having a blast enjoying groups like Girls Generation, Super Junior. SHINEE, f(x), TVXQ, and soloists like RAIN and IU. When Exo made their appearance in 2011, I fell in love with their vocals. Because I love R&B and ballads, as my Kpop journey continued, I wasn't seeing too many other groups sing in the style that Exo did. They had a way of putting that emotion into their ballads, and it was breathtaking for me, I couldn't believe what I was hearing....it clearly steered me away from Western music as a whole, with a few exceptions, as I love all kinds of music. Yes, Exo had their cute, very poppy songs...but when Miracles In December dropped, as I also learned the lyrics, the song made me tear up, it was sad but beautiful... I never liked Christmas songs till today, but that song made me very emotional, and I considered it a song to cry to...and from 2014 till today, it has become a winter song that I need to listen to at least once every year, and it makes me sad for a bit, (Christmas in general does) but I switched on their happier winter songs right after.... For Life is also a great ballad done in the style I like. With their ballads, it may seem like easy listening music to those that just look for fast paced dance and rap, but it is something that I need, along with that type of up beat music, and I haven't found any other Kpop music that comes close to the way Exo does winter ballads. And that's why they are called vocal kings. And I agree, whoever composed and arranged these songs know what they are doing. Kyungsoo is my ultimate bias because of his voice. I love them all, but he is something special to me. Other b-side winter favorites are What I Want For Christmas, Wait, and Goodnite, where lyric videos are available. When Miracles in December was being promoted in music shows, the search phrase “the one in the middle” trended a lot, referring to Chen. This is due to Chen solely promoting in Exo-M in China up until then (2013). So for many Koreans watching music shows, they were seeing and hearing EXO vocalist’s Chen for the first time and they were really impressed and wanting to learn his name. A bit regrettable that Chen’s talent wasn’t recognized in Korea’s kpop scene (and even among most korean and international Exo fans at the time because for the most part they focused on Exo K not Exo M) for 1.5yrs after debut due to him being in Exo-M. But today he is recognized in the kpop industry as one of the top vocalists due not only his work in Exo but his solo music as well. Hope you react to some soon! I will keep hyping “Light of My Life” (has mv), “Mirage of Flower” (no mv), and. “Free World” (no mv) from his latest (Japanese) album :). His most widely known release though is his Korean solo debut single “Beautiful Goodbye” (has mv) which is a very bittersweet and emotional ballad.
honestly as a new fan who has known Exo since their debut but only recently decided i have a clear bias now and so i will watch more Exo stuffs, mainly reactions, while think over if i am an Exo fan...even now, Chen sadly still is the most underappreciated main vocalist of the group among fans as far as i can see, maybe his talents is more acknowledged by professionals and whatnot but as far as reactions from international fans i've seen from comments and various reaction channels, Chen is still the only main vocalist that i rarely see getting hyped n gushed over generally, so...maybe he just doesn't fit the more trendy n popular style of singing preferred by many, but Chen is probably the most versatile(for me at least, lol), and when i listen to some of the older songs they sing in Killing Voice i'm surprised because it feels like he improved a lot even though he's already good to begin with. and yes, Chen is my bias(back then i didn't know them well but i still would have chosen him...i guess even then i felt bad for his n Xiumin's situation too that puts them at disadvantage but idk..), and because of Chen i now have bought an Exo album(his ver of course), something me from 10-12 years would never imagine. lol. even though i'm not that into ballads and wish Chen would shook everyone with his next release by shaking things up musically(doubt that would happen but who knows), i'm still going to learn to love all his solo releases so far cuz i love his singing n he deserves all the love and appreciation.

Miracles in December Divided into three sections , Chen tells the story of regret in relationships, “friends, love, or family.” The inability to see the suffering of the other party in the relationship, seeps into your heart with the calm sound of the piano. D.O singing for love and hope for a return in his smooth voice Like love , and Baekhyun tells the disappointment and loss of hope in his sorrow tone. Which conveys feeling.. such a Gem ،and the whole MV is my trauma because of what Exo went through the next year (2014) got me into deep depression .
This is what makes Exo so special. Only a very few groups could do the ballads like this but also excel at the uptempo bangers (BTOB, Super Junior and Shinee)
I'm not sure if anyone commented this yet, but the one turning time back is Tao. He is one of the former EXO members, that left the group in 2015, and his power in EXO was time control. Once you get to know the members and their powers you will start noticing things like this in the music videos.
"Miracles In December" actually features the 4 main vocalists in EXO. If you haven't yet, you should check out the Mandarin version as well. If you have never heard the Mandarin version, then you are missing out on hearing Luhan's beautiful voice also. :D In the EXO-M version of "Miracles in December" you will see that Luhan sings instead of D.O. Luhan was one of the main vocalists in EXO-M. Chen and Luhan are both EXO-M members so they sang the Mandarin songs, and to round out the vocals Baekhyun subbed in as an EXO-M member. :D "Miracles in December" is part of EXO's winter comeback releases, so, as you heard, it's a ballad. EXO's winter albums are always their ballad albums. Up until the last few years EXO used to come out with 3 to 4 albums a year -- a summer album that was more of their mainstream hype songs and a repackaged album a few weeks later, and then, in the winter, they would release another album that was more of a holiday album and it was all slower ballad songs. But the last few years EXO's first comeback of the year hasn't been until the end of the year -- for example, Don't Mess Up My Tempo was released in November 2018 and the Obsession album didn't come out until November 2019. So, I guess, because the first album and repackage were released so late in the year, SM decided that releasing a winter holiday album would just be too soon after the other album. So, we haven't gotten a new winter album for several years now. Which, I think is a shame because EXO's ballads are really beautiful and I enjoy them almost more than their other songs. Now to explain what is happening in the story in the MV. If you notice, Xiumin was the one that made it snow. Xiumin has the power to control ice/frost/snow, so anytime something has to do with these weather elements they will focus on him. In the MV you see Xiumin in the red sweater and the black vest with the lapel pin that is shaped like EXO's logo. He steps outside and looks up at the sky and at that moment his pin shimmers and it begins to snow. It is thought that the members' powers are tied to their emotions, so when Xiumin is sad or melancholy, he almost can't help it, and he will make it snow. Next, we see Tao stop time. Yes, Tao has the power of time control, so he is the one that turned back time and then instantly brought time back to the present again. The snow was falling in reverse at one point because Tao was rewinding time. Then you see everything pause for a second and the snow starts falling down again when he brings everything back to the present. As you may have noticed, there was an eclipse. Eclipses affect the members' powers and it is also where they gather strength, etc. So, you will see them focus on an eclipse or something to do with the moon and sun, or other planetary phenomenon, in a lot of EXO's storyline. This even happens in live performances. You will see instances of them using their powers to control things that happen on stage during live concert performances. Suho makes it rain on stage, Xiumin will make it snow, Chanyeol will control fire, Chen will control the thunder and lightning, Baekhyun often makes the lights go on and off, etc. If you keep this all in mind when you watch any of their MVs or live performances, it's kind of fun to search for the instances where they are using their powers. In some MVs and songs the members use their powers more than others, but at least one member will use their powers in almost everything they do, it just might be more subtle sometimes than others. So, this is just another element of EXO's performances that make watching them unique. I think of "Miracles in December" as a kind of breakup song that is about how the holidays makes you nostalgic for that loved one that you are no longer with. It makes you remember all the good times and makes you wish you were together even though you know, deep down, you are better off now that you have broken up. As I see it, all the gifts are supposed to be what they would have given to their girlfriends if they hadn't broken up before the holidays. I interpret the story as, "she" was a different girl for each of the members, and "she" was not meeting any of them, she was a memory of a past relationship that was no more. That's why Tao turns back time for a moment to relive being in the relationship, but then quickly returns to the present because he knows, deep down, he is better off and that you really can't go back in time and expect to fix everything in the relationship. That's why they are all sad and crying because they are heartbroken. I like to think, for example, that the puppy was probably going to be a present for Kai's girlfriend, but now that they have broken up, it just reminds him of her. It's kind of a bittersweet memory. :D The "miracle" is that the girl had such a profound impact on their life that, even though they aren't together anymore, she will always play a big role in his life history, etc. The "miracle" is that the holidays give you a reason to look back and reflect on those special moments in life, and even though the memories might make them sad because they are no longer able to make new memories together, the old memories are still there. And the "miracle" is that he has now realized she has taught him so much about love and life, but unfortunately, he has realized it too late and he can't go back, so he is sad. He's now upset because he is unable to show her the appreciation she deserves, etc., etc. And, if you like the studio version of "Miracles in December," just wait until you see them perform this song live in concert. I think you will fall in love with it even more. :D
Since 2012 until now, even with the emergence of new groups, none of them compete with EXO in terms of vocals, hi-notes, and visuals. They are the only group in K-Pop that has all of these things! It is the truth that no one has the right to deny

It is one of my favourite EXO's beautiful winter song "Wait". I really love their beautiful vocal with only simple guitar background in this song. As mentioned by EXO in an interview for their Love Shot-the fifth album repackage that this song was originally selected for their winter album, but due to some reason, there was no winter album after their last "Universe" 2017 Winter Album, they included this song for EXO-L so that we could have a winter song. There is no MV for "Wait", you can react to the fan made lyrics MV and their live performance in “[0xFESTA with EXO #3]” with all members or the performance in their concert in Japan (only 6 members because D.O and Xiumin were in the military). Even the composer of Wait was very happy because he knew this song was for EXO’s winter album but for some reasons, it was not included in every winter album and he has almost forgot about it. It’s been a long “wait”. Looking forward to your reaction.
And again! I totally agree with you! This is why I also love EXO's ballads, they are easy to listen to and it doesn't sound like they are screaming to your ears. EXO have the vocals to belt out (or even scream lol) the notes like any other typical ballad singers out there, but they choose not to. And yes, they mostly sing in chest voice. They only sing in falsetto as a stylistic choice. With EXO's ballads, you can literally just close your eyes and listen to their beautiful voices and feel all the emotions. They are amazing storytellers! Them having all the vocal techniques is one thing, but them still going to their vocal lessons is another! Miracles in December Divided into three sections , Chen tells the story of regret in relationships, “friends, love, or family.” The inability to see the suffering of the other party in the relationship, seeps into your heart with the calm sound of the piano. D.O singing for love and hope for a return in his smooth voice Like love , and Baekhyun tells the disappointment and loss of hope in his sorrow tone. Which conveys feeling.. such a Gem ،and the whole MV is my trauma because of what Exo went through the next year (2014) got me into deep depression .
This is what makes Exo so special. Only a very few groups could do the ballads like this but also excel at the uptempo bangers (BTOB, Super Junior and Shinee)

I'm not sure if anyone commented this yet, but the one turning time back is Tao. He is one of the former EXO members, that left the group in 2015, and his power in EXO was time control. Once you get to know the members and their powers you will start noticing things like this in the music videos.
"Miracles In December" actually features the 4 main vocalists in EXO. If you haven't yet, you should check out the Mandarin version as well. If you have never heard the Mandarin version, then you are missing out on hearing Luhan's beautiful voice also. :D In the EXO-M version of "Miracles in December" you will see that Luhan sings instead of D.O. Luhan was one of the main vocalists in EXO-M. Chen and Luhan are both EXO-M members so they sang the Mandarin songs, and to round out the vocals Baekhyun subbed in as an EXO-M member. :D
"Miracles in December" is part of EXO's winter comeback releases, so, as you heard, it's a ballad. EXO's winter albums are always their ballad albums. Up until the last few years EXO used to come out with 3 to 4 albums a year -- a summer album that was more of their mainstream hype songs and a repackaged album a few weeks later, and then, in the winter, they would release another album that was more of a holiday album and it was all slower ballad songs. But the last few years EXO's first comeback of the year hasn't been until the end of the year -- for example, Don't Mess Up My Tempo was released in November 2018 and the Obsession album didn't come out until November 2019. So, I guess, because the first album and repackage were released so late in the year, SM decided that releasing a winter holiday album would just be too soon after the other album. So, we haven't gotten a new winter album for several years now. Which, I think is a shame because EXO's ballads are really beautiful and I enjoy them almost more than their other songs.
Now to explain what is happening in the story in the MV. If you notice, Xiumin was the one that made it snow. Xiumin has the power to control ice/frost/snow, so anytime something has to do with these weather elements they will focus on him. In the MV you see Xiumin in the red sweater and the black vest with the lapel pin that is shaped like EXO's logo. He steps outside and looks up at the sky and at that moment his pin shimmers and it begins to snow. It is thought that the members' powers are tied to their emotions, so when Xiumin is sad or melancholy, he almost can't help it, and he will make it snow.
Next, we see Tao stop time. Yes, Tao has the power of time control, so he is the one that turned back time and then instantly brought time back to the present again. The snow was falling in reverse at one point because Tao was rewinding time. Then you see everything pause for a second and the snow starts falling down again when he brings everything back to the present.
As you may have noticed, there was an eclipse. Eclipses affect the members' powers and it is also where they gather strength, etc. So, you will see them focus on an eclipse or something to do with the moon and sun, or other planetary phenomenon, in a lot of EXO's storyline.
This even happens in live performances. You will see instances of them using their powers to control things that happen on stage during live concert performances. Suho makes it rain on stage, Xiumin will make it snow, Chanyeol will control fire, Chen will control the thunder and lightning, Baekhyun often makes the lights go on and off, etc. If you keep this all in mind when you watch any of their MVs or live performances, it's kind of fun to search for the instances where they are using their powers. In some MVs and songs the members use their powers more than others, but at least one member will use their powers in almost everything they do, it just might be more subtle sometimes than others. So, this is just another element of EXO's performances that make watching them unique.
I think of "Miracles in December" as a kind of breakup song that is about how the holidays makes you nostalgic for that loved one that you are no longer with. It makes you remember all the good times and makes you wish you were together even though you know, deep down, you are better off now that you have broken up.
As I see it, all the gifts are supposed to be what they would have given to their girlfriends if they hadn't broken up before the holidays.
I interpret the story as, "she" was a different girl for each of the members, and "she" was not meeting any of them, she was a memory of a past relationship that was no more. That's why Tao turns back time for a moment to relive being in the relationship, but then quickly returns to the present because he knows, deep down, he is better off and that you really can't go back in time and expect to fix everything in the relationship. That's why they are all sad and crying because they are heartbroken. I like to think, for example, that the puppy was probably going to be a present for Kai's girlfriend, but now that they have broken up, it just reminds him of her. It's kind of a bittersweet memory. :D
The "miracle" is that the girl had such a profound impact on their life that, even though they aren't together anymore, she will always play a big role in his life history, etc. The "miracle" is that the holidays give you a reason to look back and reflect on those special moments in life, and even though the memories might make them sad because they are no longer able to make new memories together, the old memories are still there. And the "miracle" is that he has now realized she has taught him so much about love and life, but unfortunately, he has realized it too late and he can't go back, so he is sad. He's now upset because he is unable to show her the appreciation she deserves, etc., etc.
And, if you like the studio version of "Miracles in December," just wait until you see them perform this song live in concert. I think you will fall in love with it even more. :D

Thank you for your genuine reaction and analysis to EXO's songs. All EXO’s winter songs are so beautiful and I would like to suggest a gem that only a few reactors have reacted to it. It is one of my favourite EXO's beautiful winter song "Wait". I really love their beautiful vocal with only simple guitar background in this song. As mentioned by EXO in an interview for their Love Shot-the fifth album repackage that this song was originally selected for their winter album, but due to some reason, there was no winter album after their last "Universe" 2017 Winter Album, they included this song for EXO-L so that we could have a winter song. There is no MV for "Wait", you can react to the fan made lyrics MV and their live performance in “[0xFESTA with EXO #3]” with all members or the performance in their concert in Japan (only 6 members because D.O and Xiumin were in the military).
Even the composer of Wait was very happy because he knew this song was for EXO’s winter album but for some reasons, it was not included in every winter album and he has almost forgot about it. It’s been a long “wait”. Looking forward to your reaction.

And again! I totally agree with you! This is why I also love EXO's ballads, they are easy to listen to and it doesn't sound like they are screaming to your ears. EXO have the vocals to belt out (or even scream lol) the notes like any other typical ballad singers out there, but they choose not to. And yes, they mostly sing in chest voice. They only sing in falsetto as a stylistic choice. With EXO's ballads, you can literally just close your eyes and listen to their beautiful voices and feel all the emotions. They are amazing storytellers! Them having all the vocal techniques is one thing, but them still going to their vocal lessons is another!
