  • For your free book on Kundalini's journey titled Ascent to Union visit here: www.thesoulsjo.... Kundalini unfolding culminates in the union of Shiva and Shakti.
The ancient nondual system of Kashmir Shaivism provides extraordinary wisdom and practices for directly knowing your true nature as Supreme Consciousness. That is true for all beings and all of creation. To know that fully and completely we engage in meditation practices on a variety of levels. The foundational text of Kashmir Shaivism is the Shiva Sutras and it provides a detailed and thoroughly inspiring map of how to go from the most contracted states of mind/body identification to the boundless infinitude of Being, Being Supreme Consciousness. Drawing on the translation of the Shiva Sutras from Jaideva Singh, Lawrence gives an introduction to the Shiva Sutras and how it informs and deepens our practices of mantra, meditation and daily sadhana.
Lawrence Edwards, PhD is the author of Awakening Kundalini: The Path To Radical Freedom; The Soul's Journey: Guidance From The Divine Within; and Kali's Bazaar penned by Kalidas. To learn more about these works and Lawrence Edwards, PhD please visit www.thesoulsjourney.com.
The Anam Cara Meditation Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization and relies on the generous donations of people like you to offer free programs and online resources. To access more resources or to make a donation, please visit anamcara-ny.org. You can download the chanting and mantra texts there as well. Anam Cara is an ancient Gaelic term that means "friend of the soul." Anam Cara Meditation Foundation was founded in 2001 by Lawrence with a simple mission to make meditation teachings and practices available to everyone. What and how we create our lives moment by moment reflects our state of mind, our state of consciousness. Meditation is the key to changing our state of consciousness to reflect our highest nature, thereby empowering us to create a better life and a better world.

He also mixed vajra and shiva. (Not just me !) "They" say not too but clearly they are both totally compatible

Pure Shiva Consciousness is Buddha Consciousness. Guru Padmasambhava came out of the area where Kashmir Shaivism and Buddhism intermingled. The whole Tibetan Buddhist tantra tradition grew out of the Shiva and Shakti traditions. Guru Rinpoche can be seen as an emanation of Shiva and his consort, Lady Yeshe, Tara incarnate, is Mahadevi - Shakti - Mata Kali! Jai Maa! What shouldn't be mixed on one level of practice is later seen to be the One that transcends all knowing, Bhagavati Maha Prajna Paramita, the Great Mother of all Buddhas! Leave all words, all orthodoxies, all imaginings and disappear into That! Tat Twam Asi! Jai Maa!

Personally, I love Maa Saraswati. She is Mahamaya and Mahavidya, Purusha and Prakriti. Could I bring my Saraswati into this understanding?

Jai Maa! Saraswati is one of the oldest names of Maa! It means "She who flows". There is no difference between Saraswati and Shakti - they are ONE! Always only ONE! Many names for the ONE, but always ONE! Know that the ONE who is beyond names and forms isn't limited by the mind's attachment to a particular name and form. To delight in the ONE is also to delight in the MANY! Purusha and Prakriti are Maa dancing in those forms, the ONE is always present as the ultimate Reality! Delight in Satchitananda!

It's a Gaelic term used in the Celtic tradition. John O'Donohue discusses it on page xviii in his book Anam Cara: A Book Of Celtic Wisdom. The book is indeed filled with wisdom! I hope everyone reads it!
