All I am saying, the Springboks in a final is something else. Good luck. There will be a lot of things that will be seen for the very first time in their game this weekend. It also going to rain. So the backs won't see too much ball.
The Boks have changed game plan a lot. England was tough with those conditions. I think the SA way is. If the opposition wants a fight they will fight, If they want to play, then they will play. They feel they can win no matter what.
I like mark’s idea about a prop chillin in the TMO bunker waiting to give their two cents on scrums 🤙🏽 Great show as usual. I enjoy the non rugby chat as much as the rugby stuff. Cracks me up.
Good episode guys! As a Saffa supporter, my heart is obviously with SA, but I'll accept the outcome as the winners would have earned it! Go Bokke, and good luck to the AB's!
I Have to say, As a Bok Supporter, I really hope Will Jordan gets at least one try in the final. When Ritchie got tackled short of the line I lost my shit! Jordan getting four and breaking the World Cup Scoring Record would've given that dead rubber some meaning! I was fuming! Also... How is Mark more foul-mouthed than Tony today? Was giggling at all the cusses!
Got an idea for an award, the "I'm retired and I don't have time for this". An award for someone in the rugby world (either a journalist, or talking head) who's point of view is always senile, angry or a combination of both. Stuart Barnes, Clive Woodward, JK.
To the comment about not wanting us, South Africa to win it. For me I don't mind if you win it, if you play against another team. I just don't want the NH to win it. 😂 It's so much fun every world cup listening to the NH team on how they're going to dominate.
@Olivierstreet This is the problem. A lot of fans, particularly from SA, can't see the woods from the trees when it comes to growing the sport. They'd be perfectly happy to see the game die around them if it means them playing the ABs every 4 years for title of world champs...
@@eoinmiller5620 Are you seriously daft enough to think that Springbok fans "can't see the woods from the trees" just because they want their team to win? Its not the Springboks or their fans job to feel horrible because a new team hasn't won the World Cup.
@@eoinmiller5620 So should us Springbok fans be upset this week knowing that France or Ireland aren't in the final, is that your logic? We are just happy for our team and country!
@@business3867 take some time to look at other SA fans being thrilled at not only their team being in the final (which of course is totally understandable) but relishing the fact that the team they're playing is specifically the ABs. Listen to the jingoistic narrative in the OP, and many others, relishing "SH dominance". Even media articles talk about it. This old boys club outlook that a large contingent of fans have is 100% detrimental to the sport.
Years ago I used to wake up to the sound of a drone flying around my neighborhood at like 3am in the morning on random mornings of the week. I was never entirely sure that it was a drone, but i'd fall back asleep and then wake up in the morning thinking I swear I heard a drone again last night. Fast forward several months and there's a massive Police operation in the 'burb and they're chainsawing their way into a house down the road and then after that, never heard the drone again. Then I read a news article some months later that it was a massive drug bust and the operation down the end of the road used to fly drones around looking for Police because they were paranoid about getting raided.
The last scrum, the loosehead's knee touched the ground before put in. Kitshoff conceded the exact penalty earlier in the match before put in. So we are now advocating for inconsistency this week?
Regarding that last scrum for Handre's penalty, theres been a lot of talk aboit whether or not it should've been a penalty, people have come out for or against, but i haven't seen people mention the fact that that scrum was reset like 3 times. Seemed like England were trying to run down the clock and i think O'Keefe lost patience with England. Apparently There was a knee on the ground from one of the England props.
If NZ wins, I'm behind Mark all the way with assisting with promoting the video, Tony needs that ink! Posting it to Twitter, IG, FB and any other platform I can!
I can understand your opinion Tony about scrums, and it is your opinion, so we can leave at that. Next time your backs gets frontfoot ball, they should first stop go back 2 steps and then run again. that will negate any good frontfoot ball, that makes the backs look good. Maybe do a channel on 7's, as there the scrum is just academical, and leave the dark arts to the rest of us that is just my opinion
Yeah, I'll be nervous-drinking on Saturday...The Boks put us through absolute torture with England and France. Now for the big one! They looked a bit flat against England, but the Boks always get up for the All Blacks. It's going to be a massive game!
With the Matt Williams thing. I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion but with him, it is not just about scrums. He just can't stand forward play full stop and so is always critical of SA. If we win, he will describe it as "yes they won but....". There is always a "but". So politely, we are just pointing out that there is a game already, that split away from Union, that offers this. Also, I remember the game with no penalties at the scrums and it completely removed the contest because teams were willing to cheat at the scrums in order to get more running, faster forwards on the field. As there was no jeopardy, everyone just collapsed the scrums, walked sideways, hinged. Basically they did everything they could to make it as confusing for the ref as possible that eventually, the ref would just tell the scrum half to distribute the ball from scrums that were (more often than not) mere collapsed piles of forwards. The scrum contest disappeared. Then look at the French/Springbok game last year - where the French managed the game so that there was one or two scrums in the entire game. Proving that it is within teams control to avoid the scrums if they want to. The game is in the right balance right now. It is just that when one team becomes extremely good at one aspect. People moan.
Bok fan here....even if the Boks win this weekend the All Blacks are still the greatest team of rugby. The ABs have just been so consistently good for over a hundred years.
the try Tony is chatting about was by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu - ex Junior Boks captain, he's been in the Bok squad as a development player, very likely will be around the squad in the next RWC cycle.
COMPLETELY agree with your Dads comment… “I’m retired and don’t have time to see it”….. Every day is valuable and treasured… May he enjoy every day to the fullest. Great show as always…. Love the non-Rugby banter….👍👍
Gents you need to go and sit and ask Gazza to tell you about rugby scrums in 50s 60s 70s and 80s where hooker still need to hook, no skew inputs, no touch pause and angage shit, and those years the Boks were unbeatable in scrums, NZ even picked a Heavyweight Boxer - Kevin Skinner to sort out Jaap Bekker, to ensure they can be in the game, If we need to revert back to those scrum rules, its tickets.
People seem to think the NZ v ARG game is a negative because the score blew out and the argies were well beaten. But I think its actually a sign of a healthy game where Rugby was the biggest determining factor in who won; and as you both note Argentina showed up and were well in it for at least the majority of the first half really pushing the ABs. What a game like that highlights is that lots of the "competitiveness" of International Rugby at the moment comes down to teams slowing the game down and forcing referee's to make decisions blowing penalties the whole time to make territory. Eng v SA is a classic example of that where the weather & the play style from both teams really saw them each trying to find a penalty to make 30m down field rather than playing Rugby to get there. If referee's are keeping the game flowing and not blowing penalties all the time then teams like NZ & Ireland who have more balanced teams and are better with ball in hand will score tries, but saying that's bad because the two teams weren't close is lame, tries = good!
The ten meter march was for not dropping the ball and trying to instigate a penalty from a push and shove so no completely different to the first when Ben had a talk to both captains as manu ran from ages away to start the push and shove
its shoulder on shoulder i reckon. porter drops his shoulder and angles it in into Lomax chest swinging the scrum without a proper contest. hard to stop someone's shoulder with your chest when both body position is crouched and ready to bull. just my opinion
South Africa looked exhausted against England, and AB's are getting better with each game. AB's have enough material of SA world cup games to undermine them like thet did Ireland and Argentina, so I believe that the AB's will win. That is the Joe Schmidt factor.
Watch the last scrum from the original angle and observe (at the far end of the tunnel) Genge knee to ground before put-in to get underneath Koch. Open and shut penalty ZA, but I understand it is hard actually to watch what happens.
On Supersport in South Africa we got a special forward commentator that explains the scrum🙄; Then a specialist commentator and a mouthy ex-scrumhalf (This year it was Justin Marshall), he is very good. Noooo fuck the product , get your product from league . We want a product with Scrums , because that is where the short powerful guys and the long slow powerful guys can taste how to be a hero . Otherwise you are going to have 15 flankers and big centers on the field . Kak idea the no Scrums idea it really show you do not understand the value of having all kinds of physiques playing the game. . Saturdays game will have a lot of scrums ( rain is in the making ) so get ready for it ....
Boks and ABs in the finals whoop whoop! Good luck to you guys. I see it raining again 🤦 Oh shit we better play a smarter game than the one against England to stand even a remote chance. Supported the ABs in the quarters and the semis, but I'm back to the Boks for this one 🤣😂 Good luck gents
You can't take penalties out of the scrum, it's already such a mess that if the only downside to being illegal was a reset or a FK then the attacking team would never get clean ball.
I want South Africa to win but if it's ABs day it wouldn't be so bad cause that will be so much better than England 🤣🤣🤣 btw I confess I couldn't watch all of the SA vs England game - my nerves were shot lol can't remember seeing the TMO being involved in that game, if at all?
@@daviddempster8717 I like tight games as well but that game was a pretty low-quality affair with both teams competing to play as little rugby as possible.
Although i dont agree with things Sam Warburton says about SA rugby hes my favourite welsh player of all time and i agree he just might be one of the best captains ever as well
What we all need to do is accept the ref will have his own interpretation. We and the players need to adjust to the ref. Ref should only be called out for constant inconsistency in the frame of a single game. If he pings one team all match for an infringement and lets the other get away, that is a problem. If he blows both ways, fair deal, we just have to accept how he sees it. The laws have some leeway for refs to have their style. Players have grown up with each ref being different. We can't expect that all of a sudden all refs will do it the same way. Some games will be open, some closed. I see a lot of NZ fans and pundits wanting more open and running game. I guess that is leaning in a league direction. That also conveniently suits NZ. No one is preventing NZ from playing the open style. Rugby games can end 13-8 or 96-0, lets keep the nuance. Rugby back in the day had a million scrums and lineouts. The scrum and lineout make rugby, rugby. We shouldn't find reasons to eliminate the significance of the set piece. People don't watch golf or a cricket test match expecting a speed run to get a hole-in-one or to play T20 style. Entertainment should not always be top priority, we could threaten the integrity of the game if we only want more action.
I just want to make it evidently clear that at no point is any team compelled to play the Boks style of rugby. Its not compulsory. It works for the Boks and we will utilise it to our advantage. Im so sick of these so called experts complaining about it. We play according to our strengths. U play according to your. If u suck then u suck. Deal with it.
Hi like your analysis and as far as indiscipline towards the Ref go ...Rassie predicted it in a interview early last week ...😮seriously, at one stage he said , and Im not quoting , something like ... whoever gets along best with the Ref ,will win this game " . At the time as a Afrikaner like Rassie , i thought somerhing is getting lost in translation there , and luckily it did , I think what he meant was exactly what Farrel did , je started to squabble with the Ref . Rassie was speaking to that with his straight translation technique when speaking English . You know that Rassie gets vissions ..? Wonder if this was one of them , I got that sense when he said it because it was so definitive , who ever gets along better with the ref, will win 😂😂 Rassie is a whole lot ( wanted to say, a little bid, but then thought better of it ) like a Prophet with his visions and vision 😉 if you know what I me
If you need to go so hard on about it is just an opinion it's probably a shit one XD P.S. That last scrum, not sure if you saw the footage from the ref's side is a clear knee brief but a knee hits the ground and the ref does well here because he gave a penalty for the same thing against Kitsoff where England got the points. And btw really enjoying the content keep it up.
a nock on isnt an immediate penalty... its a scrum and if you playing against SA thats a high risk... The french didn't nock on and SA needed to manufacture scrums. Just pick great scumming forwards rather than offloading running props
Tony, if the ABs win this WC, you need to grow a pair and get a Fozzy tattooed on your arse. F##k the 75K views. It's not as if you're throwing a Fozzy figurine up your dirtbox. It's just a tat.
Springbok team going to be interesting. My guess it'll be very different to the QF and SF- weather might dictate little bit. Is there space in the 23 for Am and Moodie? Picking on of those guys means there may not be room for Willie? If Faf starts is Reinach in the 23? Do they take the chance and inject Grant Williams in the last quarter? (probably not?) Do they go 2 locks on the bench with the 2 Munster Monsters, Kleyn and RG? a lot for the coaches to think about, we were very lucky to squeak past England.
Imagine if the ref's got it 100% right and we had nothing to whinge about. How insipid would that be? Moaning about the ref is as much a part of rugby as a post match beer. The fact that we get screwed every now and then, just adds so much spice. It sits with us for years, decades, haunts us. I don't want to imagine a sterile rugby environment of perfect ref calls. The players are human and their humanity is what we love about the game, even when their mistakes cause us so much anguish. The same goes for the refs. In the days before great television coverage, we only had our perception of the ref's cock ups and we'd debate it for years, and it was great. Now, that perception is more real, although still grey, and we can have the same pub discussions afterwards. Moaning about the ref is part of rugby. It always has been. Lets not make this sterile American Football.
1:01:36 Ellis Genge absolutely dropped his knee to the ground in the last scrum. 100% correct call by Ben.
Exactly!!! Earlier in the same game Kitshoff was penalized for the same offense without a reset and no one cried about it then.
And more importantly, he was on his knee while the scrum was square, the two props only tilted in after that infringement.
Got to love the fact that the ABs went and defeated Ireland. The team that the Boks lost to. Then the Boks returned the favour by defeating France.
We planned it that way all along 🤘🏻🇿🇦
That was a game that the Boks needed, it was their poorest game of the season but they were able to pull it out the fire in the last 10min. Character building. Well done boys, was a team effort.

South Africa: working and training to have the best scrum in the world.
Rest of the world: We should stop scrumming in rugby.

Saturdays game will have a lot of scrums ( rain is in the making ) so get ready for it ....
Boks looked Tired for about 60 minutes.
Boks and ABs in the finals whoop whoop! Good luck to you guys.
I see it raining again 🤦
Oh shit we better play a smarter game than the one against England to stand even a remote chance.
Supported the ABs in the quarters and the semis, but I'm back to the Boks for this one 🤣😂
Good luck gents
Lol i thought cash converters was just a ZA thing😂
I was mind blown Australia is like 12 hours away from ZA
You can't take penalties out of the scrum, it's already such a mess that if the only downside to being illegal was a reset or a FK then the attacking team would never get clean ball.
I hope Suzy is not going to make breakfast again for your guys before the match😂
That was a Stormers try by Sahsa Ngome Zulu ❤
Jet skis of the sky 😆
No-one's joking about poisoning the Boks? I hope we're eating responsibly, and carefully. Remember, some folks will stop at anything.
The England game has put doubt in the SA team, especially those who came off early. Manie Libbok is going to possibly be fraught with doubt.
you guys forgot about the WXV 😮
I want South Africa to win but if it's ABs day it wouldn't be so bad cause that will be so much better than England 🤣🤣🤣 btw I confess I couldn't watch all of the SA vs England game - my nerves were shot lol can't remember seeing the TMO being involved in that game, if at all?
Had to bail at 55mins. Wouldn’t want my kids growing up without a dad.
Award for best handbag moment of the world cup?
Thriller will go down in history, pumping will be forgotten 🇿🇦
This is true.
I get any game is exciting when your team is playing but as a neutral that was a pretty bleak game of rugby.
@@JTAIT-b7g Depends what you like I guess, I like close tight games. I've never enjoyed high scoring run away scoreboard rugby.
@@daviddempster8717 I like tight games as well but that game was a pretty low-quality affair with both teams competing to play as little rugby as possible.
@@JTAIT-b7g I'm with you there, but nonetheless it was more exciting to watch than the Pumas/AB's. For me.
Should watch mbonambi he already played 2 80 minutes, if he has a problem big problem for sa
Should make it a black tie event for the awards show.
Although i dont agree with things Sam Warburton says about SA rugby hes my favourite welsh player of all time and i agree he just might be one of the best captains ever as well
Watch out for Suzie! 😉👌
😂
When Jonah Lomb ran over guys it was one person affecting the outcome of the game.

Don't forget the bet you made bro 😉
Kolbe won most of his contests...misconception...besides the scrappy, random ones.
Quality content gents. Thank you.
a nock on isnt an immediate penalty... its a scrum and if you playing against SA thats a high risk... The french didn't nock on and SA needed to manufacture scrums. Just pick great scumming forwards rather than offloading running props
I pick the Springboks. Because I want them to win! I really, REALLLY want them to win!
SA's worst was still enough for England's best.
(probably not?)
Do they go 2 locks on the bench with the 2 Munster Monsters, Kleyn and RG?
a lot for the coaches to think about, we were very lucky to squeak past England.
