  • Originally built as a venue for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, the building was redeveloped in 1992 as the Biodome: a unique facility that allows visitors to walk through replicas of five ecosystems found in the Americas. Today, it is one of Montreal’s most popular tourist attractions and contains over 5000 plant and animal species spread throughout a South American rainforest, a North American maple forest, an estuary habitat modelled on the Gulf of Saint-Lawrence and a sub-polar region divided into Arctic and Antarctic habitats.

    We went to the Biodome for my birthday in September. Even with the COVID restrictions in place, it was an amazing experience! I hadn't been in almost 20 years.

    The Hyacinth Macaw was incredible, as were the penguins. Love the biodôme, hope to go back someday

    How is this helping biodiversity? These animals are there for visitors entertainment and a building is not big enough, it's still a cage.

    • @chrisfernandez8916
      @chrisfernandez8916 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Was it ever presented as ''helping'' biodiversity? If anything it shows us the beauty of it and reminds us how fragile it is and what it is to lose if we dont take care of it. Let's not try to be more catholic then the Pope here. Ont respire par le nez Joelle ;-)
