My largest Fraud case as a CFE was over $3 million dealing with an orphanage in Africa. Thank you for sharing

Today I just heard that THORN , the nonprofit by Ashton Kutcher spent 80% of its $14 million on its staff !
I would love to know exactly what their staff do .

Reporting non-profit fraud is very hard. I had to go to different law enforcement agencies for someone to care. You can steal 200 dollars sneakers and have 4 police cars chasing you. But if you steal a million dollars from the homeless you will have a six figure salary living in a gated community. Some of these non profits are politically connected.

You hit the nail... politically connected. That's how this works.

Or if it is a religious / Christian based nonprofit scamming. The ED of a local nonprofit homeless shelter - a Minister of a local church - was caught skimming from the homeless shelter, charged & convicted. Worked out a deal with the local prosecutor. The guy was welcomed back to the church community, the city organizations, and even got involved in another nonprofit!
Nonprofits are the ideal vehicle for criminals.

Most of the ways nonprofits become multimillionaires are actually legal routes thru grant funding directly or indirectly or on the back end of invoicing for reimbursements from grant funding. Many nonprofits can have many subsidiaries and receive grant funding thru each one tripling or quadrupling from same grant.

Did it also have attorney's within their org, because nearly all of what's passing itself off as a non profit around here do and they are not only pathological liars, but extremely dismissive and abusive, especially the one they have within the legal aide.

Please please do your best to either make a vid or write about it in detail so people will understand how they really operate and how they got away with what they were and are and will continue to do .
This is so important and you're saying they have law enforcement involved , my God .
Please do your best to tell us about it when you can

Our state allows such linenecy on HMO nonprofits. A joke. These gated communities can have millions$$ in their HMO account and pay every member in their families and they live off the HMO and dont have to work..

Thanks for your video. I have a small nonprofit medical service and I got ripped off by the office doing my medical billing. It happened during my first two years in business while I was just starting out. It was pretty devastating and I seriously thought about packing it in. Anyway, I'm doing my own billing now, which is another whole specialty to learn but as long as I'm on this side of the dirt, I guess I'll keep working at it.

@@the_nonprofit_show Thank you. Unfortunately, dishonesty in medical billing can be so difficult to identify for the medical providers. I feel very lucky I figured it out earlier than later. It's so difficult finding really ethical people to work with. Oh well, what else is new, right?

I send out small small donations. I truly believe that part of the process of a non-profit is to instantly send out another donation request to me as soon as my check arrives in their mailbox I have seen it too many times and all I need to do is check my checkbook register and I see that I just donated. 2nd request into the shred pile. I feel they are playing on old people that will not catch the fact they already donated. I also use a gel ink pen to write my check. No way credit or debit cards.

But two people could be working in cahoots at an organization and both be dishonest together ... I'm sure it happens a lot but at least creates a little less room for dishonesty than one person working alone with the funds .
