Never heard of Grandaddy in my life until last night. As a home producer myself, I'm always looking for new and different music to learn from. Well I saw The Sophtware Slump on a top 100 list and decided to give it a go.... blew my mind. Eyes closed in the dark, extended version all the way through start to finish. I don't think I've emotionally connected with an artist the way I did with Jason. Not in an obvious way either. Very mysterious. I thought he was just one guy in his room doing all of this like I do because I couldn't imagine putting your soul out there like that in front of band members. Kind of like a Nick Drake but more like, "fuck it, I'll make my own music the way I want regardless of what anyone says." I actually cried during Underneath the Weeping Willow. I thought for sure that he would be dead when I looked up the album on Wikipedia. I was just praying that he would still be alive today. Thank God you are still with us Jason. You've achieved what every aspiring music dreams of. Thank you Jason and all members of Grandaddy, living and passed on.
XenomorphLV426 This is a tough question. Many artists like Avril Lavigne, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Evanescence, etc. change band members although, they still remain.
Jason really is a fantastic artist. He just doesn't get enough recognition... Thanks for posting this interview!
