Franco Zefferilli's Jesus of Nazareth is one of my all-time favorites. I've never seen Robert Powell in anything else and couldn't believe my luck. This was four years before Jesus of Nazareth, and seeing him play a bad guy so well shows what a great actor he is. I see a Robert Powell binge-watch in my near future. And of course I love Barbara Feldon (I own the Get Smart complete collector's edition on DVD). This was such a treat!!

31:44 forget all your new-fangled technology, in the 70’s we had the incredible Flyson coal-powered, automatic vacuum cleaner that you could point at an area of the floor and leave unattended whilst you went drink-driving. If you made it home, the patch of floor the Flyson was aimed at would be spotless. Amazing times.

Those Karloff series were more menacing because of black and white picture and it showed the plots differently than this one here. Don't compare it. Americans ruled from 80s on TV. In 60-early 70s, the UK ruled the tv. Americans just have a different culture and meaning of some things. That's why they lived in their own can and Englishmen had their own. Even though I'm not either of them, I prefer UK from those times.

Loved this one. Brilliant ending. Also stars Linda Thorson, who replaced the legendary Diana Rigg as Emma Peel in The Avengers with Patrick McNee reprising his role as John Steed. Robert Powell aka Jesus in "Jesus of Nazareth" and "Asylum" from 1972. He was in a film called The Asphyx, where a scientist learns how to stop death, by literally capturing the soul or spirit of whatever causes death with dire consequences. Some folk think it's a horror film but it's really not. It raises the question....is immortality right or wrong. Furthermore, a mere mortal cannot change Fate. Ultimately it is God Himself who controls a man's destiny. To me it's not a horror, but has moral questions to look at, ask and analyse. Brilliant. My only main issue itself is the Asphyx.... resembles "Slimer" from "Ghostbusters"!!

Out of duty to the scam he would have to have sex with her every two weeks with appropriate excuses and enough flowers, or whatever, but he visibly didn't like her crowding him.

Barbara played very well but to me she was not that beautiful as Linda. When I saw her for the first time in that church when she started kissing Paul emotionally, I knew that I waited for her because of her beauty and to see Tara King finally. She is much more beautiful than Barbara. Maybe it was because she looked more modern. And I love her accent.

Hm. Just started this one. The way the young woman is portrayed in the first scènes makes me think: really? Did they believe in 1973, that a woman would fall thát easily for a man who is obviously overdoing it. Personally, I would be very suspicious when a guy would overwhelm me with flowers the second day you've met...let alone marry him. What a creep.

Strangely enough, I saw eerie similarities to English lady-killer John Cannan, who was convicted in 1988. There are documentaries here on TH-cam, at least one features a video recording of a profile interview with a dating agency. This scripted portrayal played by Robert Powell is far, far more plausible than real life killer Cannan, in my opinion.

Tabris Morissette, thing is he looks about as much like the actual historical Jesus as George Washington did. His casting is like some children's Bible editor's choice for what Jesus would like.

Hahahahah. They weren't posh actors though, they were just voice trained in what was called BBC English. In the early days you could rarely get on tv without it. Regional accents were frowned upon then. There were exceptions of course, but in general terms BBC was the way.
