- CL-415 (Croatia air force) taking water from Neretva river (Croatia). Firefighting in hills near Komin, Metkovic, Croatia. The river Neretva is about 120 meters wide in that place and CL-415 have 28.6 m wingspan so plenty of space there. The river in that place is straight for about 1800 meters so also plenty of room for taking water. Two planes were fighting fire that day. Excellent airmanship.The fire was extinguished three days after this video. This video i took with my SGS II witch dont have video stabilization. Sorry for shaky picture.

... ovi avoni se tako brzo spuste... i moraju biti na vodi jedno desetak sekundi da bi napunili rezervoar vodom... desetak sekundi na vodi uz brzinu od 200kmh+? se predje dosta metara na vodi..... e sada.. zamisli da neki camac izplovi i nadje im se na putu... Na moru izgleda strasno kada slecu ,a gliseri plove sa svih strana.. Ovo na rijeci bas mi izgleda premalo prostora :-)

Cool. I thought they only could take water from lakes or the sea, didn't know they could fill up flying over rivers. Really well designed firefighting aircraft then. I guess the people living close to the river got some lovely "airplane flyby noise" too at home. :)
What in your opinion is the difference in taking water from a river or the sea?

@@sinblago river on this area is very calm, slow and wide, so it can freely take water, but if it would have been a smaller river, or river in some sort of cliffy area... it would basically not be possible
@@imeprezime1069 Znam dobro di je kupio vodu,to je stvarno nebitno,nisu valovi na Neretvi od 2 metra...
Iz kokpita je,zbog preglednosti,brzine,agilnosti,tako velikog I teskog aviona to stvarno šahovski potez di moraš unaprid poslozit stvari da bi manevar bio točan.
Usporedba bi bila najlaksa sa tipa nekim velikim brodom tipa trajektom itd...
@@sinblago tako je. Inače živim blizu i bio sam prisutan ovom događaju. Piloti koju lete na kanaderima svi imaju preko 6000 sati leta i fakat su profesionalci. Zafrk na Neretvi je taj što se često mijenja struja. Ovdje su potrefili savršen trenutak.

Nope, exhaust has protective net
They have a protecting net, and the intake is a series of very small tubes. People usually think that it has a large intake, but it doesn't. If it did, it would probably sink the whole plane in that speed. You can google for CL-415 water intake system and you can see how it actually looks.
20years ago in croatia helicopter picked up diver with water
These planes are fantastic.....the ability to dive without gaining speed is essential.

Voda iz jezera se pije, voda iz rijeke se pije i to su slatke vode namijenjene za piće i piju se od pamtivjeka a voda iz mora se ne pije i nije pitka. More nije voda i nije za piće, šta bi ti s morskom vodom kad ti je netko donese? Napio se?
Čak ni sve jezerske vode nisu za piće jer stajaće vode inače nisu baš dobre a to su znali stari Rimljani jer nikad nisu pravili vodovode iz jezera nego iz rijeka.
