I just discovered the microSAMPLER 2 weeks ago and got my hands on one recently, I am in love with this piece of gear ! I am really grateful for these nice videos. Korg rules !
I’m circulating a quick easy fix for the oversensitive dials that make adjustments such a hit n miss thing (& adversely affect workflow). Grab a pack of 5 or more washers from a DIY store. (mine came from a garden hose washer kit) Carefully pull off the dials/knobs. Take the opportunity to clean out any navel fluff from the recesses & check the circular gaps for any grit, dead spiders, bits of bud etc. Drop in a washer over each of the 5 pot shafts, Replace the dial knobs. You will find a lot more resistance & a weightier feel - making parameter changing a shedload easier. 14 yrs of ownership & just picked this tip up from a guitar site - my MS1 is still going strong & now has a much friendlier interface ❤ Oh & RF did great KORG presentations back in the day, thanks buddy
This is a powerful little sampler Still relevant and useful even with its wonky design and flimsy feel Would be super sad if I had to replace because there’s nothing comparable to it’s on the go lightweight yet powerful vibe
Love this sampler, I've had mine for about 3 weeks before I was out playing live with it. My only real gripe is that there's no memory expansion/SD card slot
@MarctheDarc wow. thanks for putting that out there. I'm going to check this out. I am highly alarmed and you probably just steered me away from a mistake. Thank you. After further research, I will spread the word!
That is one fab bit of kit. I recently bought a KoasPro but, I prefer this and I'm going to order one. I love how you can edit the sample to make it a perfect loop. I like the fact there is an 'Undo' feature. I like the fact I can save the creation and load it into my Mixcraft or StudioOne Artist DAW (Digital Audio Workstation. I've seen this on Amazon for £339 and on the Korg UK site &everywhere else at £379. Quite a difference. I wonder why though. I'd like to know if ya can save data to SD
What differentiates a loop sample from a gate sample once recorded? As far as i understand it, you're able to loop all samples - not just the loop mode ones. Or did i get that wrong? Is it possible to change the sample-type (say a gate sample changed to a one-shot) for an already recorded sample, directly on the keyboard? Over all it seems to me that there's some functionality overlapping in the modes - again i could be wrong. Regardless seems like awesome kit (in the market for a sampler).
I think i go back to my AKAI, that has multiple midi channels so you can set every sample to a different midi channel. And play's every sample in keyboard/Multi mode. Or does the MicroSampler have some hidden CC/PrCh functions.
this joint is phat to def, man if i had this back when I brought my casio sk-1 could imagine the stuff I could came up with. I just sampled a rhode and YO! this chumpy is off the hook,, YO! kid i can't sleep right now I am trying everything. this is the shit!!!
The Korg M3 is a totally different animal. I have one but I am also thinking of a Microsampler for a totally diffferent reason. I want something flexible and quick so I can easily experiment with samples. There is also a microkorg with a smaller set of samples that the m3 which you might want to look at.
I'm very new to making music on my computer, and I'm looking for a MIDI controller. What would you recommend? I was looking at the Korg nanoSeries2 set, is there one you would recommend more? Thanks Rich! - Ian
Hi, This is a great tutorial with very helpful explanations but still I have some issues that I'll be very happy if you help me with. --I'd like to be able to play a melody on keyboard mode while the pattern plays along that I recorded in also keyboard mode. But when I changed the sample to play onto it, the sample recorded on the pattern changes accordingly. --Is there a way to sample a chord played on keyboard mode? --When I am uploading new samples from the computer, it only loads into INITBANK. I have D,E,F... banks blank but still, it only transmits to the same bank. When choosing the bank to transmit, microsampler doesn't see the other empty banks. --How can I turn off the metronome while I am recording with pattern sequencer.
Here are some very late answers: - I did not get it - Record you chord in pattern mode, go into "sample internal mode", "thrigger mode" and then press play. You have now a sample of your previously keyboard pattern. - you have to change the bank on your microsampler than upload from your computer. You can't change the banks from your computer... - Metronome can be turned off in the global setting.
How can you record more then one sound in keyboard-mode. If i have recorded a bass-line and after that i want to record a string. If change the the key-nr, my bass-line sample changes to the string sound. How can i make more than 1 melody.
Hi Rich! Can I with the micro sampler sample one of my vintage synthesizers such as my Wavestation EX and play it a cross the keyboard of the micro sampler, as I could if a use a vintage sampler such as Emulator or EMAX? Is it possible to splitt the keyboard of the microsampler so it possible to play with 3-4 sounds at the same time?, as you could with vintage sampler (with keyboard) Daniel Fletcher of D a z z - S y n t h myspace/dazzsynth
can i use these keys as a controller for a korg ms 2000r at the same time that i reproduce samples? I mean can i do both things while playing live? sorry for my bad english
@lloplop They did infact come out with a new driver for Mac in mid May, thus solving the issue for that time, but still making it a full 6 months without a working driver for updated OSX. On a funny note, when the driver came out (mid May), they back-dated it on their webpage to 12th of April, which just wasnt true since i was checking on a near-daily basis. My local seller gave me a full refund since it's illegal for the producer to cut support before a 2 year period after purchase.
A small update on the USB-driver thing. They have now updated the driver, after 10 months, 3 of which without a working driver. And the new driver, DOESNT resolve the problem! So even in spite of said update, we're still WAITING for a WORKING USB-driver! I am absolutely in awe over a company thinking they can ignore supporting a basic feature of the things they sell. And meanwhile happily advertise said feature in the gear though it doesnt work...
Can we soon get a working USB-driver? It's 10 months old. It havent worked for almost 3 months, and you've known there is a problem even longer. I really dont think it's an unreasonable demand. This is a great tool for sampling, but moving samples to and from the computer is part of the expected functionality when buying it. And this not working for this long is what i call a grosse mistreatment of your customers and moreover a breach of the sales-agreement as it doesnt deliver what's promised.
@MarctheDarc Wow. That's insane. The backdating is absolutely appalling. Thank you for the info! I will act accordingly. Shame on you Korg!! You just lost a customer. Not because of the problem but because of how it was handled
How come the 'delete all sample' doesn't delete ? Getting really pissed off with this useless p.o.s ! The samples it is supposed to delete keep coming back !

This short video replaces 3hrs of confusion studying the manual. Thanks!

Each one of these videos is perfectly paced and learnable. Thanks!
i used to be critical on the microsampler but now i can really see how great it is!

I like this kind of keyboard-sampler, but this model disappeared from the market very fast. Is there plans for the Microsampler 2 in the future?
+1
+1
RPdigital they should release an updated rock solid version
This keyboard can do a lot :-) So glad I just bought one!
where did u get one dude? :)
The microSAMPLER can hold 36 samples per bank, so a better choice for larger multisamples would be something like an M3.
Please make a microsampler 2
Love this sampler, I've had mine for about 3 weeks before I was out playing live with it. My only real gripe is that there's no memory expansion/SD card slot
its time for a new microSampler 2 version
Why is the volume so low when sampled to the microsampler..compared to the Kaossilator??
@MarctheDarc wow. thanks for putting that out there. I'm going to check this out. I am highly alarmed and you probably just steered me away from a mistake. Thank you. After further research, I will spread the word!
Video tutorials are the best. demo with reading the manual.

There’s this thing called the internet....
Hi,
This is a great tutorial with very helpful explanations but still I have some issues that I'll be very happy if you help me with.
--I'd like to be able to play a melody on keyboard mode while the pattern plays along that I recorded in also keyboard mode. But when I changed the sample to play onto it, the sample recorded on the pattern changes accordingly.

was that Download on the media player? sure sounded like it.
what if i want to record another sa,mplw while the two previous are playing? it gives me smth like loop feedback
does the microkorg have a library of it's own sounds.
Can you make a sample by recording notes on the keyboard mode?
This is a very cool ! how much it costs by the way.
Hi, Can I have multisamples assigned across an 88-key range? I'd love to use this on stage as a piano sampler. Thanks in advance.
any idea if i can trigger samples from the microsampler but via a midi controller? in this case, a roland foot pedal unit?
you can resample events on the keyboard yes
I can't find one anywhere. Whats the closest thing I can purchase to this?
Anyone?
Thanks.
MPC 500 ?
I wish the holes big enough to fit kaossilator and mini kaos pad :(
yes it is
I can't find anyone demonstrating the mic !!! Can you record your voice and play a chord with it ??
How can you record more then one sound in keyboard-mode. If i have recorded a bass-line and after that i want to record a string. If change the the key-nr, my bass-line sample changes to the string sound. How can i make more than 1 melody.
Sample your bassline as a loop. Record this sample in the pattern, you have now your bass playing and your keyboard availaible for your string !
Hi Rich!

Is korg making any new samplers
can i use these keys as a controller for a korg ms 2000r at the same time that i reproduce samples? I mean can i do both things while playing live? sorry for my bad english
plug your turntable into a mixers line in, then mixers line out into the microsampler
can you make a video how to sample over the intern for me
هل يمكن توصيل لوحة كيبورد له
That totally was omniman by Download you sampled.
where is key transpose, and octive up/ down?
There is no transpose function but if you plug an external midi keyboard, you can play a wider ranger of notes.
can't find it.
Muy bien buen sampler...como van las cosas de maravilla..bien animo con todas las cosas y vayamos con alegrías..
@MarctheDarc what happened in the end? what did korg do for you guys??

You have to delete all and then write bank to clears samples indefinitely.
