A couple years ago, I discovered linen shorts and shirts. Amazon has a ton to choose from. They are versatile in being able to dress up or down. If you go the Amazon route, the price is right, but you need to figure out your size since they are often from Asian clothing companies where sizing tends to run small. Read the reviews for size recommendations, buy a couple items in two sizes and send back the one that is wrong. Then buy every color. For cheap clothing, I'm going on year 3 with everything I purchased, so I feel I've already gotten my money's worth.
I have been wearing linen shirts for a long time. It does get very hot in the Midwest. I have four long sleeved and five short sleeved linen shirts. I also have linen trousers that I can wear in summer. Last year I purchased two linen blazers. I am ready for summer. Thank you for this video.
I bought a Linen jacket at the end of last summer (Which looks pretty much identical to what is worn @4:19 Same 3 button style and colour), never got to wear it due to the cooler weather arriving a bit early (The joys of living in the UK) and the weather remained a bit too cool to cold right until about a week ago when it looks like the warmer weather is on its way. It's the first Linen product I have ever owned and I have always liked the idea of wearing a jacket during to summer, with all my other jackets being a bit too inappropriate for the hot summer months. Looking forward to the jacket and pairing it with the perforated penny loafers got around the same time last year.
100% Linen and Linen/Cotton blends are both amazing during the Summer. Pastel colors are also nice instead of just light Blue or White. Excellent video John!
Funny you're talking about linen, I came across a video last night regarding linen suiting and I didn't know that there were actually different types of linen! Quality is key when it comes to linen
I like the items John Henric offers. I actually ordered a shirt from them once. It was too small. They don’t offer free returns on international orders. I packed the shirt up and took it to drop it off to send it back for an exchange. The shipping was almost the price of the shirt. I just decided to keep the shirt. After that, I don’t order from them anymore.
John, I really like the linen combination you show during the intro. Living in Italy, I totally agree with your explanation about linen its an amzing material for warmer climate but its hard to find linen garments that are even a bit tailored.
Linen, and high quality summer weight cotton are highly underrated! For the price, John Henric is unbelievably good value, although I do prefer Pini Parma designs for a bi more but still entry level pricing. A bit more still and you can get Santillo and some others, but all worth it in my opinion.
Am from India and we have only two seasons - summer for 10months and winters for 2months. Sure, it rains a lot during the 6th-10th month (hello, Indian Monsoons) but it’s still hot so yeah summer. Note: there are variations in weather across regions and states so above is a kind of generalisation which applies to the majority. Linens are godsend! You will sweat the moment you step outside and anything non-porous, non-breathable will make you feel like you are getting cooked in your own juice… For stepping outside, I prefer linen blends (generally mixed with cotton, sometimes with flax) and have some lovely linen pants and shirts in various colors. I use local brands like Linen Club or Fabindia and they have some fantastic stuff. Other local brands, artisanal stuff is also there and again very colourful stuff…
There are now silk and linen sports jackets available in Australia. The fabric is made in Germany. While it has a beautiful soft feel, the jackets hold a better unstructured shape than pure linen. The jackets team nicely with my collection of linen shirts, that are in a range of colours. As usual, I really enjoyed your presentation. Phil.
I just love the stuff you wear. Forget the content of your videos, the stuff you wear in your videos is just amazing. You are so wel turned out. God bless you
I have several linen items in my wardrobe and they are by far some of my favorite and most comfortable pieces I own. I could live in linen all summer long.
I love linen - but it's 7° C out there at the moment. 😀I even like the way wrinkles, partly because of course it's expected, so you don't have to take a great deal of care ironing it. I also like the johnhenric stuff, particularly their jackets but they seem a little short on stock at the moment. Still I'll go back later.
Hey John, One of my favorite aspects of summer is being able to pull some linen pieces out of the closet. Definitely need to embrace the "character" if you're going to wear it. Love the three button jacket you featured, will be looking for it. Legend
Great video John! Love that you picked a specific topic/style to drill into it! Would be great see video on oxfords also - another thought - would be great to get a video on right way to roll up sleeves on Oxford or linen shirts in the summer - I still haven’t figured this out! Thanks for all you do John!
I have a couple of linen shirts they're great for the British summer, however I found them way to hot when I wore them recently in Thailand. Must admit your pink shirt looks good 👍
I can't imagine summer without linen. For a classy yet casual look, a step or two up from tropical prints, with either shorts or trousers, I'm partial to the guayabera-style, in pastel colors and hand-embroidered, I can't resist buying one or two whenever I'm in Mexico, great quality and hard-to-find colors. P.S. Wearing a coat with a collar-less shirt was a feature of 'Miami Vice.' Just my opinion, but a soft-collared knit shirt doesn't pair as well with a coat as a stiffer, more stand-up style, and the latter better displays the chest, too, if you want to go that route...
It is already hot where I am, but I would like to experiment with some linen shirts at some point. I currently enjoy wearing the quick dry golfer polo shirts since they tend to breathe nicely and also don't show as much regarding sweat.
I have a pricey shirt I kind of outgrew in the mid section. It does have 2 darts, 1/4 inch each and one 1 inch big one in the center back. Will having a tailor take these darts out open the shirt up much?
I want linen pants and a blazer, but im 6'6 and it's so hard to find in Sweden without breaking the bank or only finding a "linen blend" with like only 5% linen and the rest in polyester or similar 😢
Was scared to death of linen anything because of the wrinkles, bought a couple anyway because of a trip to Houston last August and Jax earlier this month. Was amazed at the comfort of these shirts to where I am considering getting more. Dealing with and embracing the wrinkle. Still rolling up my sleeves though to deal with just not being able to get them out by the cuffs, but I'll learn eventually
Buy a quality steam iron and learn how to use it. Linen is machine washable as long as they haven't mess up lining it with Viscose. Forget about "Somebody Special" and treat yourself Special. The Linen is an investment in your comfort. Linen will make you feel good physically and emotionally.
Don't iron your linen shirts. I put my shirts on and use my hands to smooth them. The wrinkles create air spaces and with the lose weave help with evaporation of body moister. Evaporations cools the body. I am an avid bike rider. For the past 12 summers I have worn the same linen shirt for biking and yard work. It is sun faded and started to show wear at the elbows. I wear a long sleave linen shirt to keep cool and for sun protection. While teaching school in the days before AC I wore Linen and Cotten linen blends. They wear forever. For at least 3,000 years people have worn wool linen blends called Linsey-woolsey. It is even mentioned in the Old Testament. The US military wore linsey-woolsey uniforms during the Civil War.
Bro I don't normally comment, But seriously I just wasted 6mins on one big ad for a company I'd never buy. No talk of styling linen, what shoes go with what pant and linen shirt combo, color matching nothing. Seriously, you seen like you could do so much better.

Lennon Has become my favorite fabric. You can actually wash it in the shower after a day's wear and let it dry on a hanger. So efficient. 🎉
some of the best/easiest clothes to travel with.

I’m a lady and I concur that a linen shirt on a gentleman worn with confidence is 👌🏻

In my experience, linen blends (e.g. linen/cotton or linen/wool) tend to have similarly loose weave.
Long sleeve linen shirt is a summer staple. Goes with shorts (linen or otherwise), chinos & jeans. Also have some linen pants in my California closet
Just got myself a linen suit to wear when I go to Bermuda next month!
Awesome!
That pink shirt is great John!
I feel a shop coming on!
Right on!
Linen!! Nothing better in the warmer months. #legend
Absolutely! I’m learning to love it!
Thank You man, for everything what You doing for us, "old" boys. You helped me a lot. God bless You!
Thank you very much!

John Henric is a great company. It’s reiss quality and fit for half the price. I own a ton of their stuff.

Long time listener first time caller. KILLING IT AS always John. Found myself reaching for the linen myself just the other day.
That’s awesome! Thank you for commenting!

$20 hand steamer off Amazon is excellent for linen shirts and others. 5 min later shirt looks perfect.
I just picked up a linen suit last night for a couple of weddings this summer. can't wait to wear it!
I just love how much see-through it is , it's good that men have see-through clothes too❤.
I have several linen items in my wardrobe and they are by far some of my favorite and most comfortable pieces I own. I could live in linen all summer long.
Thanks for commenting Jeff!
Nice info! I strive to be one of the cool guys at the jazz festivals with loose linen suits this summer. 😁
Ha! Nice!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice 🎉 Perhaps a video on searsucker clothing?😊

Here in London it's still COLD and OVERCAST. I'm in despair after a very long winter.
If linen feels scratchy soak it in a mixture of bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar and salt for 24 hours it speeds up the softening process
Living here in Oklahoma, I definitely need to add some more linen pieces to the wardrobe
Thanks John. One question please. What shoes do you have to wear with linen trousers? Thanks.
I like loafers!
A good speaker with a great voice. Love your channel
Thank you!
Just bought from John Henric after watching this video. Bought two linen shirts and a pair of linen pants…hope everything fits 👍🏼
Sounds great!
Where headed into winter down here but I do look forward to my summer linen!
I have a couple of linen shirts they're great for the British summer, however I found them way to hot when I wore them recently in Thailand. Must admit your pink shirt looks good 👍

Love the shirt you are wearing.
Love the warm weather when I can breakout my linens

Thanks Remi! Jump on that link and go get one before they’re gone!
What are the best weaves on shirts for summer? So many to choose from, and I hear linen is the best for summer.,
Yeah, linen is incredible, but cotton and linen blend shirts are pretty amazing too.
Hi John, what size are you wearing?
A mix of 40 & 42 in button shirts. Large polos. Medium shirt-jacket. 48 suit jackets. 50 trousers.
Thanks for the info John! Best regards from Mexico, I am a fan of your videos.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
I have a pricey shirt I kind of outgrew in the mid section. It does have 2 darts, 1/4 inch each and one 1 inch big one in the center back. Will having a tailor take these darts out open the shirt up much?
It would open it up, but generally darts are not reversible.
@@40OverFashion Need to find designer shirts that arent made for tall skinny Italian men and more for US Men in mid 50s..lol
How do they fit the shorter guy like 5’8”? That’s always my concern. Yes I would like the linen option.
Where are some places to get 100% organic linen materials?
Don’t know what it is, but for some reason once you get closer to age 40 linen starts to look cool to wear
Agreed!
Are you wearing their pink or red? I can’t tell.
Pink
great video...I dont know about yall but I have UNIQLO linen shirts and I sware I sweat more in them than any other fabric shirt....
Linen rocks as it can be wrinkled up but you get away with it lol
I have several linen shirts but they always wrinkle along the buttons. Any Ideas how to fix that should I iron?
Hey, I think a steamer is the best option.. on a journey, hang the clothing in the bathroom while showering; the damp dewrinkles it..
To make it flat, yes, absolutely use an iron. Otherwise a steamer works for general de-wrinkling.
Is this a Seamaster?
Yes! Good eye! Recent birthday present to myself.

If you were wearing a shirt with pockets I'd be interested in what you have to say, but those pants look funny too.
my GF says linen shirts should always be ironed. I disagree. What do you say?
I don’t mind pressing or steaming when you walk out of the house, but just understand it won’t stay looking that way.
Buy a quality steam iron and learn how to use it. Linen is machine washable as long as they haven't mess up lining it with Viscose. Forget about "Somebody Special" and treat yourself Special. The Linen is an investment in your comfort. Linen will make you feel good physically and emotionally.
I never heard of John Henriks. I live in Germany
Here in Texas, Linen is a Must or you will smell it 😂
Ha! Absolutely!
Awesone clothes. It would be good to know if you have to make a return, you will be paying international shipping charges which are pretty hefty.
John Henric always has sich amazing items... sadly in such small sizes.
Something for us??40 plus ??oh yes
Hell yes me 2
Have the video is promotion 😮

The ads are getting smarter!
You forgot to mention how easily linen wrinkles.
Remember that the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans would wash their linen in urine! They were kept cool but probably reeked. 😏
First
Linen is a wrinkle mess. You wear linen pants and after ten minutes it looks like you slept in them
Gotta learn to love the character!
Yuk, I hate linen, looks like your wearing a wrinkly dishcloth.
Pants are too long
Bro I don't normally comment,

Very bad video not useful at all pretty much commercial and sponsorship driven
Thanks for the infomercial👎🏻
Just picked up a linen suit last night for a couple of weddings this summer. Can't wait to accessorize them!
