I know that Morrissey has it's flaws, he cancels shows, he has polemic political views, but man... Robert Smith (with all his professionalism) will never in his entire life reach artistically to be a 10% of what Morrissey and The Smiths are to an entire generation.
robert smith clears morrissey. the cure filled up stadiums in the late 80s / early 90s. shows in america with 75k fans (dodger stadium) while the smiths couldn't reach that level internationally. the cure sold out every single show on every leg of their last tour (saw them may of 2023) with multiple dates in large arenas, while morrissey cancelled shows in small venues.

I’ve been playing guitar all my life, and this song is an insane workout on the guitar - there’s nothing easy about playing This Charming Man
He is basically playing a counter melody with delayed strum..Complex,melodic and beautiful..
And the bass, let's not forget that, so much happening in that baseline, it's super busy but works so well.
Johnny Marr is just not human
They exploded on the scene and have left an incredible void in post punk music. I can't think of one band with this much passion and musical prowess.
Let's all appreciate Andy Rourke's bass playing. Solid chops keeping the whole thing pushing along.
