  • A little 20 minute project that can save you hours of absolute frustration. Certainly not my idea, but something I've been putting off for years, and for all the time it takes, I'd suggest you get it done. Probably applies to all C4 years, but check your car to make sure it does. Note: I am NOT a certified mechanic. The content of these videos is for informational purposes only. Thanks for your instructional video. I will do the same this summer for my C 4 to avoid potential problems.

Nice job! I need to do this too. On my car - when you pull the hood release latch - the driver side opens - then you have to pull it a second time to get the passenger side to open. Not sure if that was the way it was designed.

Thanks. Can't remember what they are called. I used them on the electric fence. I'll look at the package tomorrow and post it here.

Thanks for the inspiration, so I am about to do the same. Do you know what the wire dimensions are? There are wire kits for sale, though it is easy enough to just get some wire and locking nuts as you are doing and cheaper though i am afraid of buying wire that is too thick. Also, curious to see if you fixed the code 42? Hopefully was just that corroded electronic starter control module i mentioned.

It is about 1\16". I just used picture hanging wire. Haven't got to that code yet, hoping for next week. It's too damn cold in my shop right now, and I didn't get anywhere to store my fuel, so I'm paranoid about lighting the stove. Funny, over the years I never gave it a thought, now I do. Anyway, hope to get to it next week. Sure hope it works, thanks for the tip! Good luck with those pulls, I"m sure it will work great for you.

@@1984C4Corvette_DIY_Garage I ordered a stainless steel 1\16 kit from Azon yesterday. We have a picture hanging kit but dont think its stainless and am concerned about it rusting. When i make up my emergency hood openers, I am going to add some heat shrink tubing in a couple places. The area where it might rub and the part for your fingers to make it easier to pull out. Totally understand not wanting to mess with it while its cold out. Im in the same boat with that. I also ordered some IAC parts. The ones i ordered are only $12 from the Amzon store so will see how the cheap parts work out. I'd like to see if I can get your contact info some how.. would be nice to chat with someone that has the same car.

@@carl6405 Yeah I never thought about rust although I never drive in the rain. Wrapping it is a good idea. I'm not much of a talker but I'll shoot you my email address. Interested to hear how that kit works out for ya, good luck!
