- Thor Love and Thunder was fun, but there are too many problems to ignore. From the massive plot conveniences to the complete reversion of Thor's character, Love and Thunder felt like a step backwards for my favorite MCU hero.

Sign... I miss the old Thor. Ever since Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth has been pretty much just playing himself.
At least Thor: The Dark World was serious and had a dark element to it instead of turning itself into a joke
And Thor 1 has the perfect balance of humour and seriousness.
I want Thor to have dignity after all he has been through over the years. Taika Waititi, thank you for everything, now go back to making good indie films.
Man, Taika let Hollywood swallow him whole, didn't he? His indie films are rare gems, they're great stories with a lot of heart. Ever since JoJo Rabbit, his films are rather... mid. And he's bought into his own hype so much that, rather than weirdly charming (as he used to be), he comes off as incredibly smug.
And he obviously doesn’t know how to write dialogue. The video “How bad dialogue ruined Thor 4” talks a lot about how Taika can’t write good dialogue.
No hes just a child who showed what 2 movies look like from that child like mind. Thor is a serious film..... Taikas just not mentally there to make a serious adult film..... he has to have fart jokes every 30 secs.
Taika pushes lgbtqa crap in his films. He ruined Thor and made him a wimp.
I don't know why he was given a chance to write Thor. Ragnarok sucks too, why make the avengers biggest gun into a goof thaf gets zapped
Ironically I already disliked him in ragnarok. Many loved it but I see him as the mcu hero who should be more serious, cap America style, and thus I didn't like how he became a demential comedian in ragnarok. Essentially only the death of Odin was treated seriously.
A lot of cool moments carried Ragnarok. There is no cool moments in LaT in fact it's exact opposite as there is so much cringe moments in LaT

Taika Watiti needs to go. He must have taken a course called, How to Monopolize and Sabotage Thor Love and Thunder. He directed, acted, and narrated the movie. And I'm pretty sure he got paid for all of it. Did he have more lines than Thor. He ruined the movie. The Boys was better. Wait. MORBIUS WAS BETTER.

I was one of the few who was actually turned off by Ragnarok. Now with Love and Thunder I hope people can reevaluate the issues that were present in Ragnarok. Taika Watiti was never a good pick for Thor and I hope this movie will be his last Thor film. Marvel needs a course correction

Watitti had already broken Thor in Ragnarok. Then End Game clowned him up more. Love and Thunder just doubled down and finished him off. Too bad because that "bring me Thanos scene in Infinity War was stunningly great. It was finally full blown Thor onscreen.

People see Ragnarok as a much needed refresh of the character, I see Ragnarok as where the ruining of the character began.

Marvel movies are becoming disposable. That is the takeaway from what they have been doing since Endgame. I really have not loved anything they have done since. Wandavision started good but then kind of burned out and I really did not like the rest. They are leaning way too hard into comedy and that is a mistake. The reason Marvel succeeded was they took it seriously, but had moments of levity. Turning it all comedy is basically calling these movies silly, which ironically was always the big fear of the fans when they first started these. This happened to the Batman movies of the 1990's and I feel Marvel is going the same way. Ragnarok as a standalone change of pace was barely acceptable, so long as it was just a change of pace, but instead it is becoming the standard.
What else to expect from a generation that can't take anything seriously? Everything is a fuckin meme or a hashtag or a retweet to these clowns like Taika. It's disgusting that this is the standard of today.
Waittii failed Thor, Thor deserves better. Thor 1 and 2 is way better then the last two Thor movies.

Ragnarok was just the beginning of the end. Even then I could see they wanted to make Thor into a joke. Infinity War was on the right track fixing him into a... NVM he's ruined again in the next movies.
This is an alternative universe... In 616, Thor used all his experience from the previous movies and then had many nightmares. But he was jolly but was prepared his whole movie. He never gave up... When Gorr arrived and kidnapped the kids... There were no jokes, it was serious for Thor was angry but calculating as he didn't want to not repeat the mistake of before (go for the)

I agree with what you said, but the screaming goats were a tad too much for me. For me, this was the same level as Dr Strange but for very different reasons... Phase 4 doesn't have a focus right now and will hurt the movies more over time. But for now, it's ok :)
I liked this movie cus it was fun and my favorite himbo now has a very chaotic daughter. I like found family shit I could watch 10 seasons of Thor learning to dad.

Death of Odin, death of helmdall, dead of frigga his mom, death of loki, destruction of asgard, death of half the asgardians by thanos before the snap, losing to thanos even though he had the chance to stop him. death of half the universe after the snap, gaining weight due to depression just for him to be a bafoon in thor love and thunder. Thor should've have been way more wiser in this movie. And they should've leaned in on everything he went through. This man has cried more in any mcu movie the any other avenger. Terrible story arc

There was a bug when I posted this and ads weren't showing for a while (I wasn't alone). Maybe YT pushed all of the midrolls for a while after that. Usually, with multiple midrolls, people only get 1 or 2 max, if any at all.

As a huge Thor comic book fan, I don't know anyone who would go to see a Thor movie expecting a funny, light hearted, romantic movie or in other words a chic flick. I personally hope Marvel/ Disney is done making movies about the god of thunder; one of the most powerful characters in all of comics. These movies have all been trash!

This movie would be way better (perhaps not good/amazing yet) if the main villain would be a more light-hearted and not someone so dark e brutal (Gorr wnet totally wasted here). And if the new imaturity of Thor would be portrated as a cope and some scenes and/or characters showing this
i dont think Taika Waititi is to blame here. Thor was reruined in endgame by that movie's writer. He just had to make do with what he had in hand.

I mean....where else were you supposed to take Thor's character? He had gone full circle from arrogant to humble to angry to depressed to being solely focused on the job. Thor had done it all, and I wouldn't say he was back to square 1 in terms of his character. He's just trying to enjoy his life at the moment. We couldn't have the true essence of Gorr's character because the movie simply won't be PG13. Like you said, I expect it to be dumb fun and just enjoy it.
That would've been fine...if it wasn't connected to a wider universe and realized that they had to keep it consistent with the past events, as well as Thor's main characteristics. Just because it was "dumb fun" isn't justifiable enough to call it a good movie. You can like something, but it doesn't mean it wasn't bad.

@@BrickKildaguy I disagree it's either bad or good for example if thor love and thunder had all of these problembs yet was one of the greatest comedy movies ever made or made in the last many years then I could understand yet I didn't hear him say that he didn't at any point describe it as even an above average or average comedy if it was really that funny I belive he'd have made it clear, the bad points would need to be overshadowed by some very or extremely highly performing element to which their was none of that's stated in this review he literally agreed with it being like a parody of itself,porr plotpoints and dragged out jokes amongst other things so even the jokes he claimed he liked he also said where dragged out which shows poor comedic awareness so the comedy really couldnt have been that great for him, and the films tone, storytelling and character explorations played like a parody for him so we know that he wasn't s f an of the way the story was told, he also stated that thors character was ruined, didn't have any well established praise for the main villain who they shortchanged amongst other things he mentioned so I'd hope anyone could see the reasoning as to why this review makes no sense, he even said the film literally holds no weight in any way, so the least it could do is have at least above average comedy yet he didn't have a well established praise for that element either so I'd hope anyone would be able to see why I'm saying this is a review that's as dumb as the film itself

Yes and no. It's still a story. A small example I used is that, according to Love and Thunder, Korg's whole species appears to be men. At the very least, men can procreate with each other and Korg had two dads. In Ragnarok, it was a whole thing about Korg's mom and her boyfriend. It's a small example of how love and thunder abandoned practically all consistencies.
This film was pretty bad it was really cheap on every angle
