I have a very very similar set up. I use a Sterling Ink A5 common planner as my planner and collections book then a Sterling Ink 520 page A5 blank notebook as my daily/bullet journal. The blank notebook is where I do all my messy processing, rapid logging, consolidating of my to do lists (work and personal), long form journaling. All that stuff. Then I use the planner to do all my actual planning. Task scheduling, events and appointments, and collections for quick reference lists and trackers. My planner generally stays very clean where my notebook is a hodgepodge mess and I love it!
So I’m sitting here watching your video whilst setting up, you guessed it… an a5 stalogy. I don’t know why I thought this was the year an Erin Condren would work for my catch all planner when I knew in my heart it would never ever work. I use an a6 wonderland 222 in a moterm cover as a wallet/every day carry and I love it but I like spaciousness for the hyper graphic little fairy that lives inside me lol and the EC just wasn’t going to do it for me so *sigh* stalogy it is. I thought about putting the dailies after each week but thanks to your timely video I think I’m going to just keep them at the back. I don’t journal in my planner but I do a little memory keeping and Bible notes in there so it should work, I think.
Oh my gosh, that's so funny! What a timely video then! Yeah, if you're not journaling then perhaps the number of pages in-between your weekly spreads might also be annoying for you too. Love the A5 stalogy for its flexibility though!

Oh man see that's why I can't set up so far ahead 😭 I have to give myself the flexibility to change my layouts and pages on the fly and to try out something new whenever I want to (thank god for rings honestly lol) That said though I genuinely love how you set up your pages, they look gorgeous. I completely relate! I reordered my planner for this year very early last year because they sell out. I was very happy in that planner at the time (sigh). Here we are in February and I am just plain bored with it. Feeling all the guilts about spending money on a new planner - perfectly good planner all ready - wasted paper.....UGH!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my A5 Hobonichi Techo. They also have the A5 Avec that is two 6month books for a lighter load. BTW, I use fountain pens in my Hobonichi.
Yeah, there's a lot that went into me not taking out the daily pages. I've done that before and the way the signatures of paper are sewn, it's hard to keep all of them together if you accidentally slice all the way through. It seemed more trouble than it was worth. I needed a fresh start.
At the end of the year do you archive both the dated forward planner and the bujo or just the bujo? Your system makes perfect sense you did a great job explaining it in your other video. Very efficient.
I definitely thought about it. But the other issue was that I wasn’t using it functionally, and if I wasn’t reaching for it, I knew I had to change things immediately otherwise I wouldn’t use it in February either.
Maybe you felt guilty for wanting to changing your planner so early into 2024? That’s why you didn’t change it as soon as you realized that it wasn’t working for you. But, that’s okay. Sometimes a planner can work for you for a certain period in your life and then, not work for you as time passes because your needs and wants change.
I have the compact version of the W222, so I just use that as the yearly collections section. I have my cleaning schedule and other annual collections.
Why do I duplicate? The dated planner is for all of my forward planning and the bujo is for weekly tasks + journaling that I set up as I go. It’s my two book system.
Do you know if it’s the Darcy leather or Emma? The Darcy seems to start out dark like what’s showing on your cover but the Emma can turn that color too after a long time…. It’s super light when new. I got the Darcy leather and it is just a bit too stiff for my liking. Love their Crème leathers but scared to take the leap into another significant planner purchase like that. 🤷🏼♀️

I know!!! It’s a fatal flaw of mine…clearly! I just need at least the next month ahead and then it gets me in situations like this!!!

I thought I would use a narrow TN this year. It lasted a week before I went back to passport TNs.
Lol...I was feeling making the switch after a week, but suffered through two more before really making up my mind!

I think that definitely had something to do with it, which is why I was trying to switch layouts around.

I like your folio cover. Where did you get it?
The A5 is a Moterm folio, and the B6 is a Cascade Folio in Austen leather from Chic Sparrow!
