🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🧂 *Understanding the Importance of Potassium*
    - Potassium is crucial for the sodium-potassium pump, which regulates nerve function and cellular fluid balance.
    - Imbalances in potassium levels (hyperkalemia or hypokalemia) can have symptoms like muscle cramps or weakness.
    - Factors affecting potassium levels include kidney function, dietary intake, medications, and adrenal conditions like Addison's disease.
02:41 🥦 *Potassium Sources in Different Diets*
    - Common belief: potassium mainly comes from plants, but it's also present in animal products.
    - Plant sources like beet leaves, swiss chard, spinach, avocados, and salads offer varying potassium levels.
    - Animal-based sources such as bone broth, beef, octopus, salmon, eggs, liver, and chicken also provide significant amounts of potassium.
04:28 🍖 *Potassium Content in Carnivore Diet*
    - Despite the absence of plants, the carnivore diet offers potassium-rich options like bone broth, beef, octopus, salmon, eggs, liver, and chicken.
    - Animal products in the carnivore diet can supply substantial amounts of potassium necessary for bodily functions.
    - Contrary to popular belief, bananas aren't the most efficient source of potassium due to their sugar content compared to other dietary options.

00:00 🧪 Potassium is a crucial mineral needed for the sodium-potassium pump in cells, aiding nerve function and fluid balance.
01:33 🤔 Symptoms of high potassium include diarrhea, while low potassium may lead to constipation, muscle cramps, and fatigue.
02:41 🌡 High potassium levels are typically associated with kidney disease; dietary sources and supplements rarely cause excessive potassium.
03:34 🥦 Potassium is not exclusive to plants; carnivore diet options like bone broth, beef, octopus, salmon, eggs, liver, and chicken can provide significant potassium.

Ketovore here....90% carnivore 10% plant based for several months now and doing absolutely magnificent! From what I understand on carnivore is that ruminant 100% grass fed red meat contains ALL vitamins which explains why people thrive on carnivore. Also learned recently that there are 7 "ESSENTIAL" nutrients that are found in animal products that you can NOT get from plant based products....this finally explains why people can reach optimal health on carnivore and NOT on vegan which also tells me that if one can not achieve optimal health on vegan but can on carnivore then keto is just a diet in between, keto you can be pretty healthy because you are getting animal product with your veggies but it's looking more and more that a diverse microbiome is not as beneficial as believed by some, it's quite possible that if you are carnivore there is no need for a diversed microbiome for optimal health.....don't shoot the messenger, I'm just looking at what the evidence has shown on both sides. Love the information Dr. Berg!!! Glad to see you are completely open minded about this and not just in bed with the keto lifestyle!

any red meat does that, the only difference is the fat composition and some vitamin composition differences based on Cow's diet. You do NOT need any plant material in your diet whatsoever, it's in fact contra-indicated because of anti nutrients and general reduction in nutrient intake due to plants. They have natural defense mechanisms your body has to deal with, even AFTER cooking.

Hi dr. Berg. I was on keto last year for 5 months and lost weight, felt great, got stomach upset and was advised to take rice banana etc. Til I fell off the wagon, and got a lot of my weight back. Now, i decided to get started and got back on track, but shifted to carnivore. Clean carnivore.
Today I had a strong americano, and hungarian sausage for breakfast, had palpitations after that very strong americano, ate beef belly for lunch, then around 4:30 at my shift, the doctor (i work at the hospital) checked my bp after we had a conversation about keto and carnivore, my bp was up 130/90. Normally i’m always 110-120/80. Im kinda worried. But i’ll stick to it right?

Potassium ions are spontaneously drawn into small pore spaces (i. e. into cells). Philippa Wiggins explored this behaviour in the context of porous silica gel. Maintaining excellent cellular redox to control the architecture of cells allows for the continued drawing of potassium into the locations in which it is required.
