To make it a bit easier on you and because i want to see further. Edit the push limit to -1 for infinity so you don't have to deal with the weird extension method and then build a 100 piston extender. I double dare you

I have an idea, but I don't know how it would work. Mumbo, right after you used that 'caterpillar effect', I though of something. What if you hooked up a perm counter to disable the monostable circuit from the back to the front, with each rotation of the clock making the counter go up, disabling the next piston, and the next, causing the caterpillar function to not activate the last piston, then the second last and so on.
You wouldn't have to build many circuits, just the main three. The clock, the caterpillar retracting function, and the counter. (and maybe a reversed counter of sorts for the extension process?) I haven't done much testing my self, but if this works, you could make a seemingly infinite piston extender, and the only difficult part of making it would be getting the number of clock rotations right!

This is just something done for fun, i know, BUT if you’re looking for utility in actually pushing blocks this far, flying machines are much more efficient in many aspects, including the resources required to build the contraption, the time it takes to build it, the complexity of the machine, the amount of processing the computer must do in order to load the machine (so in other words your frame rate), and also just the speed of how quickly the machine completes it’s task.
well its not , when youre actually in the game and can analyse the thing to figure out what does what , when youre watching a video tho , different story
This is an older video and I wouldn't expect you to read this but, if you give the piston extender Several pulses from the back to the front like when you were making the
I don't know if you'll read this Mumbo. Wish I had seen this video sooner then now. If I had seen this video just after you released it, I would have told you that it doesn't matter if you use the same way as the other pistons. That is because it will move the pistons that are within its movable block range and all you'd have to do is press the button at least one more time. Now, I'm not sure if you know it, but the way you made your last piston extender, of 12 pistons that is, you made a perfect way to cause the cascade effect of all the pistons. All you needed to do was put repeaters down the other side in the same directions as the ones under the pistons. Then power those first and the ones under the pistons and repeat until all pistons have come back to a full rest. This would have made your build so much more compacted then the one you had built. If I did the math right it would be 6 blocks wide, 56 or 60 blocks long and 3 or 4 blocks high. I'd love to see you make something useful out of it. Me, Using the new 1.14 mechanics, I've made a player ejection system and, just for fun, an item transporter. Though it only uses 6 pistons as more then that seems a bit ridicules. My original 20 piston extender is not as compact as yours is though and it uses many more redstone repeaters and comparator. But now, thanks in part to you, I have found another way to make it more compressed and it may use less comparator then my original. I kind of wish I could show a screen shot of mine, but TH-cam doesn't have that capability. Hope you see this and respond, but if not hope those who read this will be inspired to try my alternations to your original.

I don't know if you'll read this Mumbo. Wish I had seen this video sooner then now. If I had seen this video just after you released it, I would have told you that it doesn't matter if you use the same way as the other pistons. That is because it will move the pistons that are within its movable block range and all you'd have to do is press the button at least one more time.
Now, I'm not sure if you know it, but the way you made your last piston extender, of 12 pistons that is, you made a perfect way to cause the cascade effect of all the pistons. All you needed to do was put repeaters down the other side in the same directions as the ones under the pistons. Then power those first and the ones under the pistons and repeat until all pistons have come back to a full rest. This would have made your build so much more compacted then the one you had built. If I did the math right it would be 6 blocks wide, 56 or 60 blocks long and 3 or 4 blocks high.
I'd love to see you make something useful out of it. Me, Using the new 1.14 mechanics, I've made a player ejection system and, just for fun, an item transporter. Though it only uses 6 pistons as more then that seems a bit ridicules. My original 20 piston extender is not as compact as yours is though and it uses many more redstone repeaters and comparator. But now, thanks in part to you, I have found another way to make it more compressed and it may use less comparator then my original. I kind of wish I could show a screen shot of mine, but TH-cam doesn't have that capability.
Hope you see this and respond, but if not hope those who read this will be inspired to try my alternations to your original.
