Thank you so very much for this video! I am a newbie at journaling and journal making. While I have made a couple fabric based chipboard cover, I am not overly happy with it and the glue seepage through the fabric. Seeing another video the other day on soft journal covers I liked the idea but didn’t like how flimsy they appeared as the final product. Luckily, I found this video on using a stabilizer/interfacing showing me all the steps explained in a clear and concise manner I could understand. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
hello Margaine, firstly thanks so much for your lovely compliments. It makes all the diference finding the right process so that you can make the journal you have in your mind! there are so many covers you can make it's mind boggling for you as a beginner. having a light hand and nice fresh glue helps avoid glue seepage too, happy creating hugs Donna
Hi Donna, another great tutorial. I will eventually get through them all. I am so enjoying my me time watching you do your brilliant thing ❤❤❤❤learning from you tfs ❤ alison
that's great Jennifer, if spotlight don't have it checkout Lincraft or similar, the quilting shops are a good start as well both are used by quilters a lot :-) ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
I just saw your video for inspiration. I am making soft fabric covers at the moment with fabric samples in a nautical style. Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and tricks! Greetings from Germany! Nicole
Wonderful....I am just about to make covers for two junk journals in the process of completion....thank you so very much for sharing all the fabulous information these will certainly be put to great use by myself.... best wishes Jill UK
Fabulous tutorial, Donna. Your stitching is so wonderful. The lace is so feminine and delicate. I hope you will do another video to show the sewing in if the signatures. Thank you
I really like u and I watched every video since I subscribed as your tutorials are a great benefit to those who have no printer or money to buy digital kit. By the way, I am a bedside crafter from Singapore.
Hi Karin aw thanks for being a loyal subby I appreciate you letting me know :-) I feel for you crafting from your bedside I have many followers who craft this way and this is why I love to share as much as i can for free or a very low price point ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
I can't wait to learn how to sew! I love the soft cover idea so much better. I've done a few lately with file hanging folders and I covered them with fabric. They came out beautiful. However, they didn't seem to bend in the middle properly or maybe is me that can't seem to manipulate the book to take shape. The corners don't meet. I'm considering making a you tube video to show what I've been working on. I have a few different books I've made so far. Thank you so much for sharing ❤. I love all your tutorials. They inspire me greatly. 😁
oh yes, get and learn to sew as soon as you can, you'll love it I taught my son to sew when he was about 10 he loved it!! sewing hankies lol. Maybe the file folder needed about 3 to five score lines in the fold area to help it roll over, im guessing you may have put one single crease down the center? things like the corners not meeting you will now take notice of on your next journal and check that they do meet when you fold and sew your signatures in :-) I'm happy that what i do helps you along, I will be sewing in the signatures in this soft cover after christmas :-) ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
ha ha you're a nutta!! you only have one button & that's G O!! the colours look fab, the first time i found a colour I like no mixing straight from the bottle ;-) ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
Have fun! Marlo, let me know if they have the fusible fleece where you are too please, I know there's other outlets like Lincraft as well, i haven't looked them up yet ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna

Donna, you're a total legend! I've got some gorgeous fabric & some bondaweb but I've been too scared to give it a go. Then along you come & show me exactly what to do. I do have one question though, my machine is bog standard & I can't select for the needle to stay down when I turn a corner using the zig-zag. I struggle getting it in just the right position on the right hand side. Is there anything apart from just practice I can try? Thank you again for explaining it so even a novice like me can understand x
fantastic Jane yay!! and yes you can go really slow up to the corner, when your almost there stop using your foot petal, and wind that puppy over by hand using the wheel at the top, when the needle gets to the right hand side leave it in the fabric and lift the presser foot, turn the corner, foot back down and off you go again :-) ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
HI Donna, thks for sharing. As I do not have a printer, your domension helps me a lot. But for the one for putting the lace or ribbon without dimension, there is no way, I can use after downloading. Sorry to trouble you can u give the dimension of the tutorial for organising my lace and ribbon as it is in great mess. And another request, can you put dimension in all your future download to help those like me without printer also can use. Sorry to trouble u and thanks. Take care.
Hi Karin no probs, I don't always give the dimensions however today this is a free gift to you. I'm sorry i don't make the information available in any other way than how i'm doing it now, thanks for tuning in and happy creating ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
Have you ever used fat quarters for a junk journal cover? Someone gave me a ton of awesome designs which I haven’t gone thru yet to see the sizes. I took a peek in the box to see the designs. But I’m new to sewing fabric over my covers. I always used glued scrapbook paper (cardstock scrapbook paper) but I had some old fabric which was large enough for me to cut, so the couple I have done I was ok with the outcome. I’m just not sure about fat quarters and there’s so many in the box I don’t want to start grabbing them out! And wind up disappointed!!!
hi Ge3mma you sure can use fat quarters, they're usually 100% cotton aren't they? I like using fabric it's better than paper because it doesn't crack and lasts a lot longer, you wont be disappointed, now that you have plenty if you mess up on one it won't matter, reach in that box and make another one, tip, practice on a piece of fabric you least like ;-) (❁´◡`❁) 🦋 hugs Donna
@@JunkJournalideas thank you!!! I wasn’t sure so I haven’t tried yet but this weekend I now have a date with some chip board and fat quarters!!! Lol. I appreciate you taking the time to comment back.
