- DIDI is a story of such a "man" - Gopal and his sister-Kamla, who loved him most dearly but could never see eye to eye with him, She therfore thought that, the best course to save her brother was to get him married. She selected a bride for him. But in the meanwhile Gopal had met with a terrible reversal in his adventure of backing up a friend of his and had also had to resign his job from the school, due to differences of opinion with the authorities on matters of policy and ideals. . Under these circumstances any thought of marriage was out of question for him. But Kamla didi was not the sister as would taek thing quietly lying down. She fretted, she fumed, she tortured herself creating a veritable heart-break house for the husband and children. . But it was not a question only between the brother and sister of the husband and wife and children. If the girl Radha would have been introduced to Gopal she would have remained undisturbed in her romantic dreams; but now she had met Gopal, found a kindred soul in him and fallen head over heels in love with him. . Had it not been for Gopals mother and Jay and Vijay the two little devils of Kamla and Vinod the whole situation would have tended to result in a tragic end.

Unmatchable movie in 1959. this movie was way ahead of its own time. very experimental movie with good entertainment and relationship between mother and son, sister and brother and friendship. every possible family drama was included in the movie without obstructing main plot. the story line was very good, awesome. the screenplay was very very superior.
all the songs are unmatchable, 'Tum Mujhe Bhool Bhi Jao To Ye Haq Hai Tumko' 'bacchon Tum takdeer Ho' 'Humne Suna Tha Ek Hai Bharat' 'Pyar Hi Mujhe Sarkar Hai' all all songs written beautifully by Sahir Ludhianvi. the music was very great. Sajjan, Lalita Pawar, Om Prakash performed roles very beautifully. Sunil Datt, JayShri as her sister and Feroz Khan as his friend, Hani irani, Dezi irani and Shubha Khote as heroine of Sunil Dutt also performed very well. the dialogues were superb. the camera work was also superb. over all the director has proved himself to produce such a film that have innovative story and good entertainment also. overall a must watch movie for all the family drama lovers and fans of Sunil Dutt
