wonderful help and it was the powerboard. this is my 3rd B-Hyve, lasting just few months over 2 years, I a so sorry I invested in these, nothing but trouble. you provided perfect directions !
UPDATE! around the middle of March 2024, a TH-camr with the name "Probably can't fix it" published a a YT video showing how to repair the Power Board on the cheap. Apparently a B160 Shottky diode (1 amp 60v) is the problem. He shows where it is and how to replace it. A pack of these diodes is 10-15 bucks on Amazon. I didn't have that specific diode around but I did some other Shottky diodes so I used a 3amp 40v unit. de-soldered the old one, soldered in the new one. Bingo!
I got a replacement power board on eBay. How do I disconnect wires from the old power board without damaging anything? A follow up video would be great!
At 2:41 I show exactly what needs to be disconnected... you need to pull the 2 spade connectors (upper left). then gently pull the black connector, then loosen each screw on the terminal block that has a wire and pull those wires down.
You want to look for "Orbit WT-25 GEN 2 Power Board" but I just looked on eBay and got no hits. They seem to come and go. If you have any kind of soldering skills (or know someone who does) its a pretty easy fix on your current board. A TH-camr with the name "Probably can't fix it" published a YT video showing how to repair the Power Board on the cheap.
I have the no ac message. I measure 28 volts ac on the 24v out terminals. I wonder if the board displays that message if the power supply's output is outside a specific range.
28 VAC is normal and not any kind of a problem. Sound like you have the same problem I did... your power board is bad. When i published this they seemed to be available... now? not so much. In fact, parts for this model seem difficult to find. The only thing I can think to suggest is the "Orbit 57900 12-Station Outdoor Swing Panel Sprinkler System Timer" which is currently available on Amazon for $60 + change.
I just ordered the same model B-hyve 6 station and got it today. I only needed 6 and I wanted a quick easy swap out. Someone on another forum thought a diode was the cause. I may investigate after I swap out the unit. It would be nice if the app alerted the system wasn’t functioning. I had my zone #5 turned off because I discovered a broken pipe that had occurred after some tree work. I turned on that zone manually to flush out the line in case any critters or lizards had crawled in the broken pipe. I shut the zone off, made my repairs, then tried to turn the zone back on manually ( the next day perhaps). Then the app said something like no WiFi. I checked the controller and that’s when I saw the no ac message. Very odd because it was just working.
@@rogerbaker5090 In terms of the "ignorant-dangerous-competent-expert" paradigm, I am probably somewhere between dangerous and competent. While I have, from time to time actually got a failed board working again, it was usually because of something obvious like a fried capacitor. When I closely inspected my failed power board I could not find any of the typical signs of overheating. In any case, glad you are up and running again.
@@demiurgiac My unit has the same "no ac" problem. I measured 37VAC~40VAC at the 24V terminals. So does that mean the power supply was bad and also fried the board by supplying too much voltage?
@@li77wei Its difficult to say but with your power supply putting out that kind of voltage it would be a good guess your board is fried. That said it seems to me that Orbit has replaced the "B-hyve" line with a newer line. You can get those timers for less than 40 bucks. If my B-hyve timer ever goes out again thats what I plan to do.
Thanks. Unfortunately, mine is bricked, nothing at all on the display. Fortunately, it's under warranty, so if they ever call back, I can get a replacement
Hi Dave, Hope you and the Mrs are keeping well. What happened to your old videos? I remember the car restoration videos and was thoroughly enjoying them!
Everything is great around here... thanks for check'n in. Glad you enjoyed those videos. When you refer to "What happened..." did you mean the car restoration vids? I just checked (for the first time in a long time) and couldn't find them (don't remember deleting them). I did see many of my other older vids out there though.
While I am no electronics expert, I have in the past, on occasion, been able to bring a board back to life after seeing evidence of, for example, overheating of a component or a capacitor gone bad. I did a visual examination of this board and could not find anything like that. And I only have basic test equipment. So I guess the answer to your question is... it would depend on you level of expertise and what kind of test equipment you have. In any case, thanks for check'n in!

That fixed it!!!! Thanks. Unit was just over 2 yers old. Cost $CDN 1.01. Amazing.
What would we do without youtube?!

Can you share the link where you found the board? Thanks
could you please share the link to buy replacement board? I could not find one. Thanks

I have exact same unit. So far, no issues. But am thankful for your video. I wonder, however, if that power board is simple enough to diagnose & fix?

So basically just keep replacing the unit. Mine failed three times three separate units all no power AC. These fail too often
If you saved the failed boards read my latest comment on this thread!
I seem to have the same problem, but I can't find the power board anywhere. Do you know where I can get 1?
Hmmm... Looked around myself. Can't seem to see them anywhere now.
If you are still interested, looks like they are available again on eBay.
Search for "Orbit WT-25 GEN 2 Power Board"
