    Macklin, Smith, Eklund, Zetterlund, Musty, Couture & Granlund are 7 forwards that could make our top 9 fun to watch next season. The Sharks will score goals next season, our defense is just the weak link since we really just have a bunch of middle/bottom pairing defenseman

      @@justinwillness3162 Granlund was basically a point per game player and was more than that once he got on a line with Eklund and Zetterlund.
      Cooch is still probably a very solid 3C if he comes back healthy and still an elite defensive forward that can be very good on a PK

    Celebrini seems like the kind of player who can handle being on a bad team since most accounts have him as a natural leader. There's not much individually he has to prove as a player, the talent is enough. But for me, it depends how many Sharks prospects actually have a shot of making their roster this year.
    Smith, it'll come down to his WC performance with the USA, but his defensive game is an issue for now. Halttunen and Musty are probably a year off. Bystedt, Mukhamadullin, Cagnoni, Thompson, Edstrom, and Thrun are fighting for roster spots as well. San Jose has until August 31st to figure out their situation with Celebrini and Smith, so they can be a little patient.

      Musty is definitely making the roster, there’s nothing left for him to prove in the OHL. He can’t play in the AHL because of the CHL under 20 rule but his size and skill, he’s a top 6 forward on the roster

      My thinking is you sign 2 solid veterans - like guys around 29-30. Throw a shit load of money at them on short term deals - ie 2 years. Stabalize the roster, and let Celebrini come up but don't pressure Smith or Musty. We also got a guy like Bystedt who may be a bit closer for a 3C role and you get him up along with a few of the remaining RFA/UFA crop we had ahead of Smith - ie Bourdelaeu, Konstin, Graf - let these guys get a shot this year while Smith develops. The veterans are there to stabalize this core for the coming year - we can be bad, like bottom 10 bad, but we shouldn't be league worst. Start to set the culture and these guys will help.
      Then after this season, you look at Smith, Musty coming up. Maybe a guy like Cagnoni is closer or whoever we take at #14, #33 starts to give a better picture for those FA summers in 2025 and 2026 and you can really start to sign more prime aged guys.
      So for this year I'm thinking you look at a guy like Skjei (long shot but we can toss an obscene amount of cash at him for ~2-3 years), or someone more like a Chatfield/Demelo/Carrier. And at forward - idk, a DeBrusk (similar egregious overpay on a couple years, or give him 4x$5 and see if he goes for it). And this way you begin icing a team that can at least hang in games. Adding Mukhmadullin on the back end, and ideally having a guy like Emberson healthy would begin to provide some 2-way ability which was just lacking this year.

    So as someone who doesn't really pay attention to hockey, they let their draft picks go back to college? Do they get paid going back, or does the contract start once they play for the team?

    • @redboi_
      @redboi_ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They do not get paid going back, an NCAA player can’t play college hockey with an NHL contract. The contract starts once they sign with their NHL team and can’t go back to college
