Congrats on your son’s first road bike. The memories the two of you will gain will last a life time. When you do your checks and servicing pay close attention to the tire though the miles on bike is low the tires will most likely be dry rotting. Also flush the front brake fluid. I believe the rear brake system is mechanical drum brakes. Again great memories to come with this venture.
Those bikes are very reliable and great for a new rider. I had several friends that started out with those and they were bullet proof. Sounds like Cam is a very responsible young man. When my son started riding on the street after riding dirt bikes,we where very nervous at first. After seeing him ride a few times we were more confident. He now has his own Harley and we ride together. Sounds like you are heading in the same direction. I hope you both can ride many years together. Great video!

Congrats John. Cam looks like a great young man. That Honda Shadow is a great starter bike. The reliability is awesome. I bought a used (1974) Honda CB750 in 1988, and rode it for 22 years. Never a problem, just standard maintenance. He'll love it.👍🏾🙏🏾 Ride safe, Cam.
I had a metric cruiser, 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan Custom 900, before my Harley. I miss that bike. No worries about overheating, external breathers, stage upgrades and on and on. That Kawasaki just ran perfect and was fun to ride.

There is nothing like riding with your son,l can not express how proud I am to be out riding and look over and see my boy riding beside me. He started at 16 with a 650 Suzuki and we both road sport bikes for years,then he bought a Fat Boy and I thought I lost him to the dark side! Well he now has a 22 Street Glide ST and I just bought a 23 Road Glide ST this spring, and my daughter in law rides a Sportster and my 3 grandchildren all ride dirt bikes. I am blessed
Cam, this is a great bike for a beginner. I know experiences bikers that ride a Honda Shadow 750 and love the bike. My first bike was a V Star 1100 Classic. I loved that bike. I took long trips on that bike and it was comfortable. You will love this bike. Be safe and have fun.

Take it from a road glide owner at 47, the 750 shadow has popped many of our cherries. Great 1st choice.
Road riding skills & experience do not translate to good off-road riding...But off-road riders can transition to road riding very easily, they come equipped with serious skills 👍 What a great bike for Cam to get started on, it makes perfect sense for him.

Seems like your son has a good head on his shoulders, great choice for a first bike. I am with you about being scared, it's one thing when you ride but it's completely different when it's one of your kids. Probably one of the greatest and under appreciated bikes.

Honda Shadow is the perfect choice for his first bike.
I have two boys, 29 and 26. When they were thinking about getting their MC endorsement, i sent them straight to Bergen Harley for the BRC. Great way to learn and also to undo some bad habits picked up over the years riding on the dirt.

My three sons are a bit older, late 30s to early 40s, but exactly 20 years ago, when my oldest wanted his first street bike, we settled on a three year-old (2000) Suzuki VZ800 Marauder with 3K on the odo for an even $3,000 - very similar in size, specs, and appearence to the new-to-you Honda. John, this video brought back such fond memories ... Having "been there/done that," I think I know what you are thinking & feeling. Despite several years mini-bike and dirt-bike experience, I made my son take the MSF Basic Rider Course (BRC). It gave me added peace of mind. Best of luck - there is nothing like a road trip with your kid on his own ride!

I see many references to Harley-Davidson, but it is a fact that Harley-Davidson invented the recipe for the type of bike that all of us love. This is why many of the other motorcycle brands also make great bikes now. And the Honda 750 Shadow is one of them.
Great choice for a first time bike. My first bike was a 198? CM400A. Two speed automatic.
It was a great beginner bike for a 16yo. My pops convinced a neighbor who was having a garage sale and not even selling his bike. Nevertheless, my pops convinced him to sell it to him for me.

I can’t believe it,,, I’m going threw the same situation rite now,,,,, my son is 23 and been on dirt bikes all his life ,,, the other day he came to me saying, I’m thinking of getting my bike license,,, happiness and fear is a crazy mix,,, I know how you feel
My wife and daughter passed the riding class at our local HD dealership in late June. Bought them a new 2022 Iron 883 to share and learn on because they are 5' and 5'3" respectively. So cool to have you kids and wife get into riding. I do have to admit that I'm scared out of my mind when we ride because they've always been with me on the back of my Ultra Limited. But every time we get back safely, I feel a little better! Congrats to your son. Love the channel.

My son is 15, and currently has about 40 hours driving experience with his learner’s permit. I’m nervous enough about sending him off on his own in a car or truck soon. Can’t imagine the fear associated with a son or daughter’s first motorcycle. 😱 This is why we teach them to make good choices when they’re young. So we can be confident they’ll continue to make good choices as a young adult. Hope your boy and you have lots of trouble-free fun as he begins his new adventure.
My son just got his first Harley, a 2003 1200 sportster. We have a 3 day ride to the Smokey Mountains in a few weeks and I am very proud of him.
Good Bike choice and a wise one for all the right reasons. I'm 61 and have the (2008) 1300 V-Star and Cam is right about the 650 being a good starter bike also. I am looking forward to seeing what gets done to this bike to make it what he wants it to be.

Congratulations Cam on your first street bike. My first cruiser was a Honda Shadow 750 Aero there great bikes, great first bike and smart choice as far as price I would leave the windshield on just for some wind protection be safe out there and can’t wait to see your journey into motorcycles..

I started out on a 2000 Honda Shadow ACE 750. Sold it for what I bought it for 5 years later. Great starter bike before I got my Streetglide and currently my Ultra Limited. Smart buy.

Great bike! Had an 09 shadow spirit. Smooth running bike no issues. Had bought it used and by time I sold it had 36,000 miles on it. Definately sounds good with a set of cobra straight pipes.
