I love your mindset! I’m in a similar situation where a lot of the books on my TBR shelf were bought back when I was a teenager and I’m just in a different stage of life now 🤷🏻‍♀️

I always imagined I'd read every book I'd bought and any book I was recommended, little did I think about tastes and time! It's amazing how adult life and parent life will cause you to rethink things 😂

I feel the same about getting books as gifts. I appreciate it but, sometimes I don’t care for the books I get and I feel guilty when I donate them(because I don’t keep books I don’t enjoy).

I feel this way about other gifts as well, like when someone gives me a decorative item that I don't want. How I think about it now, is that the gift giving isn't about me, but the giver. They want to give you something because otherwise they'll feel bad if they don't, especially because it's so normal in most societies that presents are expected at birthday's and holidays. I feel less guilty giving away items now because I know the true purpose was to make the giver happy and they felt that, in the moment they gave it to you.

Oh my goodness I didn't read much from my TBR lol, so I didn't bother? I'm not going to pressure myself knowing full well

Great advice, thank you 💐 I think I'm finally getting to a point where I don't fight myself for wanting to buy books and I don't feel guilty about having a sizeable TBR and that I'm okay with unhauling some books one day. I got enjoyable from buying, hopefully from reading, but if not, that's okay! ❤️💚💜
