Have built a few. A great kit that practically hallmarks its own simplicity. Your description of it being a "curbside" kit is spot on, when compared to something like Eduard. Sure, they aren't the most detailed in the nooks and crannies, but they paint up well and are simple to build. As another has mentioned, Italeri and Academy have both recast a few of the Allison-engined SKUs, with some varied decal options.
I've got quite the collection of AM P-51 kits in my stash. I've built a few of them and they are fun. I've even built their B-25D kit. Plus the fact that no one covered a lot of the things they made makes them a timeless favorite for me. Used to buy the P-51 kits at hobby shows for $10 ha.
These are great beginner kits. Not to complicated and not 500 fiddley parts as well as a pretty good fit of the parts. I built a couple of these and in many ways they were a quantum leap from the Revell, Monogram and Aurora kits of my youth.
Shame they don't exist anymore. I got to visit them in Charlotte, NC. before they went out of business. It was good of them to give me a tour. Also, I like their Grumman biplane kits that are really good kits, IMHO.
I built the F6B, very good kit today but it was awesome in the mid 90s!😊
Very cool!
I purchased multiple copies of various Accurate Miniatures kits when Ebay wasn't a ripoff. I still have 3 containers of them in storage.
Awesome!!
Still hold up well, Italeri and Academy reboxed them recently.
Yeah, I keep meaning to pick up the Academy boxing of the P-51A, it like the markings.

Spot on!
The ones I remember building had minimal (if any) fit issues. Put a great paint job on them and BAM... a winner.
I just wrapped up a side-by-side build of both the A-36 and the P-51. That was a lot of fun!!
Oh nice!! Love the A-36!

Nice!! I'll be doing a similar video on the AM B-25s, those were also very formative kits for me back in the day!
Loved AM kits in the 90's. Won a few plaques at model shows with them.
Awesome!! Congrats!
Great kits. I bought all three back in the day.
Nice!
Damn, I am in my mid 40s and this is bringing back memories. Cool video concept. 🤙🏻
Ha ha, good, thats the goal of the video! Sounds like we're in the same age bracket!
Still have a couple or more in the stash. Good trip down memory lane, thanks. 😊
Glad I could help you on that trip!
@ 👍🏻👍🏻

Oh yeah, for sure!
Built the Accurate -B, Tuskeege boxing. Darn good kit. Accurate was the Eduard of the late 90's, early 2000's (IMHO).
Ha ha, thats a good way to describe AM!

Yeah, Its really unfortunate. It would have been interesting to see what they would be producing today. Thats neat you got to tour their bsuiness!
Great video
Thanks for the visit!
Was considering picking one up, the museum I frequent has a huge gift shop with lots of second-hand kits.
If the prices are reasonable, I'd recommend it!
Sometimes not. Depends on the kit and the manager's mood...
@@Blowinshiddup Maybe you need to bring some donuts, butter up that manager into giving you a good deal.
great model, I like it. I have to look for it.
I recommend it!
Quick question, do you thin your washes...thanx and love your work...👍👍
If I'm using a ready made wash like the Flory wash or an Ammo Mig wash then I do not thin the washes.
Thanks, I've really got back into the hobby since I came across one of your videos on TH-cam 👍👍
I still like 'em. But I think they forgot the armor plate behind the pilot's seat! Yes?
Its quite possible they did!
Peak Canadian. AM > Hobby Craft.
Lol, Its been a long time since I've built a hobby craft kit, but I do have one in my stash.
