Lifeline is so odd, Rio can't understand "go" but she'll hear you crystal clear when you do a tongue twister or ask her to do a sexy pose. Anyway if the game came out today with our better mics and voice recognition without the combat it might actually be passable
Honestly I feel like its a cool idea. Kinda like Hey You Pikachu and I can imagine the stress and horror of only giving commands instead of being there helping them.

Hey, I remember this game at 16:50! During the early 2010s, back when the TWD show was at its peak, my mom was a HUGE fan of the series, so much so that she actually bought the game for our Wii U. It was one of the few games that I saw her play through fully.
The Thing isn't a terrible game. It's perfectly acceptable for what it is. It definitely doesn't deserve to be lumped in with the rest of this list Also, Bloodborne is definitely a horror game, regardless of the action-focused gameplay

Lifeline had so much potential and they had so many voice lines and things Ryo will respond to. Also it works better when you speak English with a Japanese accent which is hilarious.
My biggest issue with the Bigfoot game is the lack of subtlety. You can have him charge right for you at the very start of the game, it doesn't give you any time to build up tension, and Bigfoot isn't even remotely illusive or hard to find. So they have to pad out the gameplay by just making him a bullet sponge that takes every explosive and bear trap and bullet in the game to kill. It would take a lot more work for it to be done better, but I wish it was done better.
Honestly I think Lifeline suffered because pf the time it came out where voice stuff was still too new to make a game based heavily around it. I think if it came out today it would work so much better and honestly I'm sad the game did poorly as the entire idea of you being a guest trapped in a security room after a monster attack and having to work with a random waitress to survive through the radio is an interesting idea. It just needs a bit more polish and I think some modern tech to really work as an interesting idea.
I used to beg for TWD Survival Instinct because I loved zombie survival games back when i was little My parents told me it sounded like a really violent (they watch TWD) game, so they gave me a "less violent" zombie game. It was state of decay. I dodged a huge bullet, SoD was amazing.
hey man, great video I see youve already commented on the audio, let me give you a few tips as an educated sound guy. if you use a semi pro or professional editing software you should look around in the audio section, you most likely already have your voicelines and music in 2 seperated tracks, after youve set the audio balance somewhat fine between the two look for whats called normalization and an audio compressor, on the last one try to play around with the threshold and ratio slides/knobs/numbers a bit, since they will compress the sound (duh) slightely and make it sound more compact and coherent. best of luck. try also to look into whats called a limiter and normalization of audio tracks, theyre pretty easy tools to use and yield great results.
I get why Bloodborne was disqualified with the action focus and being amazing and all, but man is it the scariest game ever playesd. Running around an unfamiliar nightmare with only 4 heals and giant eyeball pigs is horrific.
I know people have already brought up audio but i haven't seen any offered advice or solutions. I dont know to much about audio but i do know if you use obs for recording mic quality there are filters you can put on it to make your mic sound more professional
So, here's a fun fact. The Friday the 13th game was made by Atlus. Yes, the very same Atlus that develops and publishes Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Etrian Odyssey. It was the 5th game they ever made.
Bigfoot does make traps, but they're not very dangerous. I do agree that human bigfoot players are smarter than the bot, but that's kind of a given. I will, however, say that the action supercedes the horror element and it cannibalizes its original purpose a lot more than it probably should.
I do agree with the statement about the last game bc it feels like you are trying to make the toddler to learn words but exept if you say one word out of context you get punished in to a shadow realm bc you said something out of context but however you didnt knew it was out of context in the first place.
There are older horror based games than games on Nintendo. But honestly unless you are a rabid fan of the base material I highly suggest not playing them. ( These are games based on Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Evil Dead, and a few others. )
A Real shame about THE THING... It had the potential... But I think was ay too early to be made... Maybe if they tried now they could make it somewhat workable as a "Multiplayer" experience... And given I hate Online Multiplayer most of the time, That's saying something! But imagine it, Multiple Online Players, Voice Chat, Tasks to complete but One is Infected, They can infect others... And it becomes a game of Tactics for both Things and Players alike... Have only One Thing Player ever able to reveal at any one time... Have the Blood Test, and a MASSIVE MAP so that Players WILL GET SEPERATED adding to the paranoia! It could work!
I actually like twd si and I’m not a mega fan of the show. But I will acknowledge why people didn’t like the game 😭. I would have loved if they redid it/make a sequel and it was done properly! Would probably be a great game
Life Line is a cool idea of a game but the technology does not work that the time. why isnt there a remake for this game? Now there a game called Yander Ai Girlfriend Simulator she is occasionally stupid too but she far more intelligent than the Life Line girl. I saw a AI livestreamer. So todays technology could be used in a remake or successor
Gonna hot take ya, but I liked Friday the 13th. It had loads of problems, but it honestly proved to be more than the sum of it's parts for me. Maybe because I was a young whipper snapper when it was released, and just dipping my toes into the wonderful world of horror movies in general, and there wasn't really any game like it at the time. Oh, and Friday the 13th Revisited is really good, took the base game and made it far harder, more coherent, and made Jason a much bigger threat. Fuck the NES Predator game though. Go play AvP 1 and especially 2 on the PC.
The origin of fear of clowns comes from how they used to wear sad faces. They'd wear big goofy shoes, trip over a ledge and step on a rake that would smack them in the face, and everybody would point and laugh. Then some soccer moms or whatever said, "Hey that's mean, you shouldn't be laughing AT the clown! They should wear happy faces too!" And so the 'happy clown' was born, and kids started finding them scary. Just always smiling at you, never stopping. Never sad. Always happy.

One recommendation, The Dreamcast game based on The Ring is very very weird considering the source material and I say that in the worst way possible.

I would say subnautica has horror *elements* but that doesnt make it an horror game the same way having levels dont mean a game is an rpg
