I am very happy to hear my exercises are helping you grow as a saxophonist. They help me too. If not a natural embouchure what was your prior setup to produce a sound? I am glad to see that you are focused on tone/articulation. Thanks again for your support-Joey
Got it. I do feel the "no-roll" approach to setting up your embouchure with very little lip covering the bottom teeth produces the sound I want to hear for me as a saxophonist. The reed vibrates much faster forcing you to modify the upper/lower pressure points within your embouchure. Plus, having your tongue remain high at all times and in all registers your personal sound will change a lot! Remember, one embouchure. Good luck. Joey
OK, I bought the CD. It's well worth the money. For me, his Hee-Tee exercise was a game changer in terms of getting nice clipped attack. I've always rejected the the natural embouchere (sp?), but I am now working on it some with my half hour of long tones. There are many good ideas in this video. For $20, you can't go wrong.
My embouchure is the traditional roll the lip over the teeth thing, but I'm moving to what I guess is called a "fatter lip". I roll less (almost no) lip on the teeth - almost like what you describe.
I'm truly sorry you feel my DVD is a "rip-off" Truly you are the first, warranting my reply. Your complaints confuse me: 2 CD's vs.1 DVD; 17 pg vs.16 pg? Only format changes, nothing to do w/content amt. The practice tracks "almost alike"? Do you understand/hear how they're not? As a musician/educator I would be happy helping you develop your listening skills crucial to jazz. "Bunch of scales'? Actually inaccurate. In any event, this is a language...so vocabulary, grammar, syntax etc! G.Luck-JB
Very very interesting !
