    It would be a real curveball if the Awoken in the Distributary returned after billions of years locked away, unrecognisable by time and isolation, transformed, incomprehensible, and incredibly hostile.

      I feel like that’s set up by the writers. We see as much when we learn Xivu’s become mortal this season. But, there’s other story threads left uncut: hunting down the remaining worm gods to end the Hive, lifting the curse in the Dreaming City and permanently killing Savathun’s daughter, maybe the Black Armory Forges come back in a side quest line? The prophecy of the Kell of Kells being the first to be chosen by the Light, The Fanatic and the Scorn, Oryx and Xivu’s Throneworlds being vacant for anyone to usurp and claim, the Nine going forward, rebuilding the City of Earth’s government to replace the now disbanded Consensus, the power vacuum and pyramid tech that will be left behind after the Witness’ death, the imprisonment or trial of many of the Witness’ forces that aren’t routed from Sol. There’s also Lysander and the Concordate that could bring the rogue factions into his fold after they’ve left the City, Crow potentially becoming Hunter Vanguard, the possibility of Amanda coming back as a Guardian, the Distributary, what happens to Braytech with Ana and Elsie, there are still many story threads to explore.

      Considering what we now know it seems the veil and the traveler were linked together and may have had one complete source of power. Lore states that the light and dark were potentially once the same energy. Even a ghost projection shows the traveler wrapped around in roots sorta like how the veil has. And with the vex caliber mission it seems the veil was missing another half at the end of the roots. It may explain why the traveler has all those lines around it as well as if something was holding it. And from the witness cutscene it seems like the traveler might have broken off from the veil or escaped it and crashed on the witnesses planet until they found it and helped dig it out.

      @@ArcaneStraini think you've misunderstood a few things there. The Traveller was found by The Witness, meaning that it couldn't have been made by them. And the difference between and light and dark isn't just in name. The light is the power of the physical world, things like nuclear fission in solar and gravity in void, while The dark represents the power of conciousness.

    One thing I would love to see after the Witness' defeat is our allies settling on the Solar System alongside Humanity. Torobatl may be reclaimed, but the damage could be so deep that it would be uninhabitable for the Cabal, so maybe the Vanguard offers Caiatl to settle on Mars (as was teased on the first mission of Witch Queen), and we could recover the planet as a patrol zone, with the patrols and events themed around aiding the Cabal in settling down there :D
    Then the Eliksni, depending on how Eramis' story concludes, Riis-Reborn is there and could be a neutral Eliksni city. Maybe the House of Light chooses to stay on the City, under the Traveler, and they could help humanity to reclaim other parts of Earth (I NEED MORE EARTH ZONES ASIDE FROM EDZ AND COSMODROME D:)

      This is one of my biggest worries. When you set the stakes as high as the complete destruction of the universe, do other stories even mean anything?

      @@Anchor-Supreme Has destiny's stakes ever been believable? Like has there ever been any point where the sentiment hasn't just been "Eh, we'll kill 'em or turn 'em into a gun sooner or later". Like even the current threat of the witness just seems like another darkness enemy that gets a cinematic death.

    • @broderickfoster2107
      @broderickfoster2107 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Vex will be a massive threat at some point. They rewrite full blown timelines to be their way. Whilst The Witness is powerful and wants to rewrite our reality the Vex rewrite ALL realities. There’s also still Xivu Arath who is disconnected from her thrown world but is not weak by any means. Savathun still exists and is likely plotting something massive. I wouldn’t be surprised if another Midnight Coup happens within the Cabal and some new threat comes out (remember they made tech which sealed the traveler, can destroy stars, etc). The Fallen are pretty much defeated but if anyone could actually unite them across all houses in another house of Devils type situation we could be in for a massive threat to humanity.
      Also we still don’t know HOW we’re defeating the witness. There may be a one time thing that puts its power down to our level. That doesn’t mean other threats to humanity afterwards aren’t still threats. The witness is one being (though I know it’s made up of a whole civilization) our guardian or a fireteam of 6 can take care of 1 thing. However you put a full army in front of us and it doesn’t become that easy. We still haven’t cleared up all Red Legion loyalists in the system…

    • @lionheartgoodfellow3770
      @lionheartgoodfellow3770 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well, we have various remaining foes that can pose a serious and credible threat, like:
      -The vex, who may seize the opportunity to finally bring their full forces and warriors to bear to ensure their version of the final shape
      -Any remaining disciples of the witness who may plot and plan to avenge their master
      -The remaining worm gods
      -The aphelion, extremely powerful, mysterious beasts that have trerrorized the galaxy for a long time

    • @SnowieTheMoth3

      So my theory is, our Ghost in Final Shape is in a stated of Volatility meaning the Light inside of it is struggled to be contained (Why do you think Ghost is cracked and damaged with Light Shining through the crack?), If he leaves i believe he'll die from Volatility of the Light. Thus making us Mortal, our Death might happen after the Final Mission of the final chapter. As that one does look kinda Vexy. Plus where is our Grave located? Vex Network. Who found it? Osiris via Vex construct built by him called the Sundial.

  • @79bigcat
    @79bigcat ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Just like how there are distinct human factions, bear in mind that there are still splinter factions of our coalition allies. House Salvation, even discounting the Shadow Legion, Caiatl doesn't have full loyalty of the Cabal either, Sol Divisive and perhaps other, more potent Vex clusters out there, apparently at least one is gestalt enough to refer to itself as "I" and actually communicate to hold Neomuni children for ransom, Taken rallying behind one of their own with enough will to remain intact as we've seen with Riven.
    Then there's the possibility that threats need not be so external. Even if all Red's tech was destroyed, you think Clovis didn't keep the blueprints? We know he's steamed after Season of the Seraph, so he'll gladly take any chance he gets to avenge his ego. Mara always has plans and schemes, and we know from the Worm that some of them involve disposing of us. Her greater good may dictate betrayal at some point. Drifter may still have part of his bargain with the IX to fulfill. What that'd entail, I don't know. But, they're still very much a wild card to consider.

    Another thing to consider: the lingering threats that would have cause to hate us, and thus, want to destroy us. Namely: Savathun and her brood, she’s more of a chaotic nuetral, as she has her own agenda, and indirectly saving humanity was just because she wanted to have the Traveler and stop the Witness. She’d planned to betray it for years. Xivu Arath, after having lost her Throneworld, may end up claiming Torobaital as the ground to make her final stand against us. For her, this may be a gamble: she either destroys the Guardians, and others, that go with Caital to reclaim Torrobaital, leaving Sol much weaker to invade, and gain tribute to survive. Or, she dies at Torrobaital, and we along with Caital, destroy her forces completely. This would cripple the Hive. Now being down to three worm gods, a few hundred sacattered broods, and one final Hive god who has no intention of serving the light or the sword Logic, but instead herself. This would leave the Hive much weaker, to the point they’d be closer to extinction. Fikrul is another remaining threat, if he regains control of most, or all, of the Scorn, and make more, after we kill the Witness, he could create his own House. Made from remnants of past and more recent dead Houses, but perhaps he could also claim the Wrathborn, after Xivu is killed. He’d have good reason to invade the City with hordes of Scorn. Only with a second Six Fronts, the Coalition could aid the Guardians. We would need to find a way to permanently end the Scorn; by finding a way to permanently kill Fikrul once and for all. Nezrec, I feel, could come back, and has the influence and power, for many to flock to his banner. Not just Psions, kind you, he could terrorize many Cabal, Elskni, Taken, Scorn, humans, awoken, exos, and maybe even Vex, to join his twisted cult of pain. Finally, there are the countless other Desciples, and loyalists forces of the Witness, as well as remaining Pyramids, that could carry out the Witness’ plans after it’s killed. There’s a chance it left its forces with contingency plans in case it died and the Final Shape failed to be enacted. There’s the remnants of the Shadow Legion, the Sol Devsive, and any Hive that would still be loyal to it. The Pyramids remaining afloat within Sol after the Witness’ death, would also be a threat. We would still need to figure out how to destroy them. Though we could use the pyramid tech to improve our defenses and make new tools and weapons to help our cause. Ultimately, I believe Sol will be mostly at peace. But, humanity and the Coalition as a whole, may not be able to rebuild and reclaim what was lost in the Collapse, until we’ve destroyed and routed our remaining enemies from Sol. The Witness’ death will create a power vacuum. Only after we’ve dealt with the remaining enemies after the war, will we be able to truly rebuild, and build our new Golden Age.

    I know that it might be strange, but I’d love to see a moment of peace. Like we have just dealt with the biggest menace in the universe, the Witness or Xivu, and then there’s another objective like going in to the tower, we’re there’s a lot of cheering and everyone is enjoying the triumph. Just after that you have to talk to zavala, and he says that the work isn’t ended.
    Your objective is to do three patrol in the cosmodrome, and then you go to the place where the ghost resurrected you. You sit down there on the cliff with him, you take a look at the horizon, the screen fades to black and that’s it.

    I think that a genuine reconquest of earth from the Vex and Hive would be a fantastic high stakes interlude, with TW out of the way following TFS it would be a good cooling off point and a tangible finish to the light and dark saga. The aftermath could be something similar to another golden age of expansion, maybe a step in a different direction with the gameplay formula of Destiny. Add some pvpve zones for clans to fight each other and third parties over. Make us take supply routes and stabilize regions of space. Actually utilize our ships and guardian powers outside of contained missions and patrols. Have the guardians get out there and cause some havoc with our new allies, but instead of as conquerors be liberators, establishing frontlines on every growing battlefields. I’ve loved the gunplay of Destiny since I played the D1 beta, and I love the gameplay loop but I honestly think that with the current weapon system, and state of classes it would lend itself to a more broad experience as an mmo. As it is we have all the grind with little to none of the QoL or payoff of a genuine mmo. Maybe I’m crazy but it sounds like fun to me.

    I honestly wish I could think of something that could be interesting after The Witness, but with the way the narrative has been handled in lightfall and the last three seasons, I don't trust them to make a story worth playing. Like the Nine have a lot to offer, but if how they handled the Veil is any indicator of how that would go, I almost hope they don't touch them. And that's my concern: we aren't going to be getting much story where we, the mc, makes progress towards a goal or goals, we are just going to get lore padding about everything else in the universe that we witness.

Now that the main threat that’s terrifying them will be out of the picture they may act and bring up there own final shape. Plus xivu arath is going to be needing to be taken care of and is no doubt furious at us, eris, and savathun from banishing her from her throne world causing her to be eaten away by her worm. Also the curse on the dreaming city still hasn’t been lifted yet after many attempts even taking out the source quria and trying to with savathun. One thing I want to point out is that we still don't really know Sav's end goal. She will *maybe* be a foe we have to contend with. She *might* turn on us. She might also decide she's having too much fun with playing along with the alliance and just stay on as that one aunt you don't really like but can't help be in awe of because of her sheer audacity.
    As for the future:
    "Echoes" I think is going to literally be the ripple effect of our conflict with the Witness. Cleanup of Witness forces, patching whatever holes in reality it's left in its wake, that kind of thing
    "Revenant" I'm basing entirely on the stasis blue of the teaser, will be hunting down Eramis who as far as we know is still alive, just gone to ground. What/how that plays out depends on her but I think it'll be mostly reunifying the remaining Eliksni, or as you mentioned maybe retaking Riis
    "Heresy" is too blatantly Xivu-centric to not be related to her somehow.

    For the future of Destiny I expect that Oryx will come back as character. In my headcanon Oryx isn't really dead but rather stays dormant because he believes in sword logic so much that he believes he has to be dead for sword logic to be true and since he's pretty much Hive god of curiosity (if I understand correctly) he could survive his worms hunger for tithes by overthinking the universe. He could come back as the wisest being in existence.

    1. There being no MAIN threat to anyone and everyone who's to say our allies, Awoken, caitl, Rasputin etc, wont just turn against us maybe not immediately but some disagreements could happen
    2. what was said in this video "other disciples" xivu arath, and fallen that going into maybe new tech
    3. Something im surprised they have not already done or thought about = Guardians turning on each other whether thats drifter/cayde kinda bandits or even factions deciding to conquer areas, or even a Rebellion since there is no MAIN threat and we are considered the strongest beings in the universe at that moment, etc. (although i will say obviously this could change depending on what happens to the travelerin the final shape and or the ending)

    What’s next speculations:
    - First major thing that sticks out to me is Xivu Arath. The most well known member under the witness’s forces. I believe this is what an expansion will be based around in the near future or at he very least will be related to the episode Heresy. Oryx got an expansion and so did Savathun. Logic says so should Xivu Arath.
    - Vex. Echoes Episode is looking to be Vex centric. Vex we’re said to be the victors of the flower game, succeeding in their final shape in every instance prior to Paracausality as a variable. With he witness gone, it falls to us as he most dominant force to keep them at bay. We may be helping the Neomuna with this since Sam has said they’ve plagued Neomuna for their entire history. We also might return to some sites on Venus/Mercury.
    - Scorn. Fikrul is still out there and the episode with scorn on it is called Revenant, this fits with the fact Fikrul is immortal and revenant means “one who has returned from death (after a long time)”.
    - Disciples. What we have done with he witness is fast tracked our way through his layered hierarchy. We’ve carved a path through the hive gods, taken out some key disciples, and that has opened up a channel into fighting him directly. However given his Millenia long presence, it would be poor to say he has no more forces left. The VoW lorebook has an entry written from an unknown disciple, meaning there is definitely more to the witnesses forces than Rhulk and Nezarec.
    - Eramis. Her wavering loyalties places her in a position of unknown action. She seems to still serve the witness but we do not know for how much longer. She is not drawn to the witness because of the promise of the final shape like all the other disciples. She wants to release her fury on the traveler for abandoning Riis and condemning Eliksni to a poorer future. She did not have to warn Mithrax about the Loyalist trap but she did, our negligence causing Amanda’s death. She also disapproves of the idea of scorn and wrath born. Her emotions clearly show in the lore excerpt where the Technocrat is returned to her as a ‘gift’ by the witness. It pains her. We may be able to sway her to our side as time goes on. If the witness is gone, she is not beholden to anyone. She doesn’t have the fear of defection anymore. She genuinely seems sad as expressed a couple of times to Eido, once in a transmission and the other in a lorebook. It is sad she believes ‘the Eliksni have a bright future but I do not belong in it’.

    • @firenzarfrenzy4985
      @firenzarfrenzy4985 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to propose more but I both don’t think I can extrapolate more and also narrative is being limited by logistics. Titan was a place that already existed and yet they could only bring it back as an activity and not a patrol zone because of how hard it is to make old data compatible again. So anything extra Solar is unlikely unless they really want something huge like an expansion around it to make it fully utilised and pay off for the resources put into it. Some people have said Take back Totobatl. I’d personally like going into the Distributary. Awoken architecture is so beautiful. Byf said reclaiming Riis. All magnificent ideas but perhaps I am being pessimistic.

    Personally, I think our next three Episodes should focus on us and our allies, or at least our allies. I see three primary objectives after the Witness is defeated and if things don't change that much. We need to secure The Reef and Dreaming City for the Eliksni and Awoken, reclaim Torobatal for the Cabal, and hopefully reclaim Earth so that we can begin to grow our own population and territory.

    I think the greatest question is whether or not the Light and the Darkness will continue as forces in the universe. I imagine Light will since it's kind of our whole thing. But will Darkness? If so, what happens to everything that was taken? Does it return? What about the Exos? They're made from radiolaria and Darkness.
    I think the thing that makes the most sense is we will begin a campaign against the Vex, focusing the entirety of our efforts against them. I don't think they should or will put up as strong of a resistance as the Witness, but what will be interesting is what exactly they do. I remember a few videos back you mentioned that the Darkness and the Deep may be two different things and I think they are. As someone who isn't playing the game anymore and just binges you're content, it doesn't make sense for the Deep to be the Darkness. Whatever the Deep is, it's different from the Darkness and the Witness.
    Here's a completely unhinged theory that bears almost no legs save for a single umbilical cord of potential. The Precursor Race sought to control the Traveler because they believed the Light was unfettered chaos. At the same time, they discovered the Veil which gave them the powers of Darkness, but that Darkness didn't bring order, it brought the Sword Logic. Sword Logic and Bomb Logic seem to be paradoxically complimentary and contradictory. They cannot exist in the same universe and yet they do. The Lucent Hive utilize both logics currently. The reason I think that's important is that if the Sword Logic doesn't bring order, what does? What is the antonym of the Traveler? The Deep.
    I would wager our next campaign will begin with a campaign against the Vex a la the Red War and conclude with our conquering of the Deep.

  • @bibby659

    The current strangeness to me will be what Savathun chooses to do after all this is said and done... she never could defeat the witness, and likely see's that we won't, with one of her possible contingency enders being that we actually win since she has one it seems after each phase of a plan. What would she do then? After all, most of what she wants is to escape her universe, or reality. But if she can not do that, then what? She'd be left with the guardians that were able to completely destroy a being she never thought beatable. A being she was only just slimly able to prevent from completing subjugating the traveler and destroying earth.
    While we can see Savathun still as a threat, you must also consider that the only reason humanity still lives, the only reason we have a fighting chance, and the only reason everything still exists at all, is because Savathun managed to trick the witness, and the traveler going into a millenia long slumber (presumably also her doing).
    So, while she did do horrible things in the past and also the present, you must remember she is also currently helping us, and is the only reason we didn't go extinct to begin with. After all, she could have likely kept off her trickster plan on the witness till humanity was at the point of no return, but she didn't. There is still to her that lives mystery, and while she may like to keep it that way, she may also open up more as time goes on, as well as when the witness is defeated. As well as help to explain why exactly she was doing what she was with the Vex and the eternal night, as well as a lot of the other stuff prior. Though I feel she was doing much of it out of desire to sate her worm at the time so it wouldn't learn the truth of her real plan while keeping it at bay.
    If anything, the Vex seems to be the next great enemy since they are the things that are taking our planets and seem to be unstoppable right now.

I’m sure that a few of their survivors probably joined the city but I’d bet they had plenty of loyalists who would refuse to align with the guardians. How fun would it be to find surviving Sunbreakers, learn about their history and philosophy, reclaim and rebuild their forge from the Vex with the help of Saladin and maybe even Ada and the Black Armory. There would be tension between us and them due specially to our alliance with not only the Cabal but with a Cabal leader who served under Ghaul. It would be a good story for someone like Hawthorne to show up again (maybe with Crow) as a more down to earth character. “Yeah, you beat the Witness, yeah you’re a god-slayer, but humanity is still scattered and a shadow of its golden age self.”

    Just imagine stumbling onto a Vex forge star like 2082 Volantis and seeing vex structures designed along the lines of the Precursors, then getting obliterated by a true vex war machine... A Basilisk or something idk. Gotta remember that the vex we're dealing with right now are "Farmers" after all.
    Then there is the far fetched possibility of the vex somehow understanding and being able to calculate paracausality, kinda makes me wonder why the witness never made a vex into a direct disciple (as far as we know anyway) it'd probably be quite dangerous for it to give nigh omnipotent emotionless beings the key to the only thing that's keeping them in check...
    Also we're kinda lacking any good vex armor sets since we didn't get AoT VoG gear...
    I wont get disappointed if they don't though lol, i'm used to it.
    Edit: I've also seen a lot of people talking about the aphelion becoming a race at some point, as much as i too would love to see that i dont think that thats happing because of what we know about them so far. They seem more like the ahamkara in that they are more animalistic (Im not sure of the best way to describe them since there isn't a lot of lore on them right now but you get my point). They are described more like "Creatures" and appear to act more primitive than a force that could militarize like the rest of the races.

    I think once the witness is defeated we could see some sort of truce with savathun. She leaves us alone and tskes over the moon, she sends lucient hive to help us reclaim lost areas

    I want a vex story where we go back in time to see our characters life, death and resurrection by our ghost. Also the fighting at six fronts, fighting during the first collapse. Would be bad ass !!!

    1:54 the saga after final shape will not be the second saga. I believe how they put it was d1 was it's own saga, d2 vanilla-forsaken was it's own saga, and the light and dark saga was from shadowkeep to lightfall

    I hope that the next saga will be after a considerable amount of years from now. Of course it depends on the exact way that the current saga will finish, but putting the narrative many years ahead will do good to everyone and open up a lot of space to adjust anything.
    We could start at the peak of the new 'golden age' expansion.

    Hate to say it but I think Destiny’s second saga will go out on a whimper like Marvels phase 4 post Thanos.

    Beyond the fact that unless they all run like the end of Lord of the Rings, as Byf said we still have a lot of enemy combatants on our doorstep; Mercury is still missing wherever the Witness sent it, Venus as well; Earth still crawls with Hive and Fallen as well is Calus' legion, Mars is time ripped with enemies and The Lure still in low orbit, Europa is in the clutches of House Salvation (Eramis is still out there...) as well as Clovis who is none too happy with us. Titan while not on the map might still crawl with Hive, Fallen, and Wrathborn, and Neptune still has the Veil and Calus' command ship parked in the middle of Neomuna. This is just in our system...who knows what other forces await outside in deep space.

    with regards to the population problem, we have an abandoned supermassive space vessel with a cloning facility that when fully functional, can infinitely repopulate the security of the entire ship. its got a bit of a mold problem, and the current residents probably dont like us very much. its designed to endlessly clone an entirely different species (or 2 if it works on psions) so getting it to work for humans would be tricky if im being generous. and the ethics of using clones to repopulate a species is questionable in our time period. who knows how a distant, post golden age, post dark age, post city age, post witness humanity feels about it.
    but its totally there

    This is a random thought that came into my head. I don't know if anyone else notices this, but I believe there is a pattern in the uploading of certain lore videos before others. I refer specifically to the upload of the conversation between Osiris and Saint about Savathun, after the death of Savathun through Eris. It might be coincidence without intention, however I am a firm believer that coincidence is specific, even if a person doesn't notice. As we've noticed in Destiny with Strand, I believe we have a weave in our real life as well, a fate that feels constricting, only when you believe it to be. This message might be lost without reply, and ignored by those who hold another perspective very dissimilar to mine, however such is fate too. Aiat!

    I'm calling it now; when we "defeat" the Witness in the raid, it's going to start fracturing into lesser fragments of itself like a C'tan from Warhammer 40k, and post raid will see us continually fracturing and destroying the shards little by little.
    It just seems so poetic that a civilization unified into a single entity in Darkness becomes splintered and defeated through very different, previously warring alien species and humanity coming together in the Light.

    I think an expansion where we help to break the curse of the dreaming city and potentially go to the distributary would be fire
