Very nice work. They look great. People used to criticise Lima for being plasticky. 40 odd years later for many of them - they're still running. Still running very surprisingly well usually.
If kept maintained that'll run another hundred years. They're fantastic models, and like you say, better than the quite expensive 'affordable' hornby range. Lovely liveries all pristine to start with and purposeful and accurate once weathered. Fantastic job!
@@KV12543 of course not the limited edition. They hold their value well. Would be interesting to see you do a Deltic as 9003 is readily available (Meld body repainted and detailed to 9011 or 9004 - they never did them)
@@williamscates3915 I don't think the Lima Deltic is one of their better models and also my diesel era layouts are set in Cornwall. As far as I know Deltics didn't reach the Duchy so it is very unlikely I will model one....but never say never...In the meantime I have several more Lima diesels just begging for some modifications, so watch this space, Regards Keith
It’s worth saying that Chadwick, Chandwell and Heaton Lodge all uploaded videos on the same day. This is the one I was looking forward to most and it didn’t disappoint it was by far the most charming and enjoyable.
A great video, clearly spoken and well paced (unfortunately a rare skill on here!). Very useful for other modellers looking to do the same. Thank you 👍🏻
GottaLuvva Lima! - Simple, Reliable, VFM with Great Performance - I find The lighting Mods made here very appealing and will be Exploring this when I’ve cleared the Bench 🥴 - I have used very thin Plastic coated wire to create vac pipes and hoses before with a micro dab of relevant colour paint on the End which is more than Adequate for the Standards Committee here at Arms Length Modelling Co 😉 As for the Self Deprecation in your Narrative, it’s Very Noble but Not Required as Your Modelling Skills Clearly Portray. Great Vid Many Thanks 👍🏻
I intresting video. I have a large collection of Lima models. It's amazing the difference that can be had by a simple modification such as pickups. I've modified my all my co-co locos so all except the the wheels with traction tyres have puck ups. I can recommend changing the motor for the cd motors. They run better and smoother without sounding like a coffee grinder.....
I may try a cd motor at some stage in the future and maybe it's just me, but I rather like the sound the Lima motors make. However, adding extra pickups is a no brainer and improves performance no end. Regards Keith.
Videoing takes a fair amount of time if it's done properly and means the modelling projects ( of which I have lots) get held up but I try to do at least one video a month. Nice comments like yours help to spur me on however so keep watching, Regards Keith
You could also get some humbrol opaque black paint and just lightly put some over the Red 47's light, might dull it just a touch enough. Wonderful job overall. Inspired to try it myself now!
Thank you for uploading this video. Have you two motored any of your Lima loco?. Was looking at a couple of Lima 31s last week, all they need is some super detailing ie wire hand rails fitting etc. Plus fitting them with two motor bogies would make them vey good layout locos. A lot cheaper than a new Bachmann or Acccurascle one.
I have never found it necessary to two motor any of my Lima diesels as I only run relatively short trains but detailing them, yes...great fun and they look a lot better afterwards, Regards Keith
Great video, i dont think you can beat a good lima loco . Which Leds did you use for the high intensity lamp ? I am not sure which colour to purchase as I've got about 30 lima locos todo .
Hi James, I used 2mm tower Leds from DCC concepts. I used their prototype white ones as they are not so bright and also suitable for steam era locos, Regards Keith
It is rather a shame no email address is provided. Some comments are OK for 'Comments'. Others are not as they seem to criticise commercial products (which they usually don't), or actually do criticise. Similarly, 'Comments' seem not to like us quoting links. Why? Some are born with a silver spoon in their mouths; others with a greasy screwdriver. We of the 'greasy screwdriver' brigade could write reems about Lima and aftermarket; we dare not. On a previous Cl 47 video you mentioned re-motoring. No comment other than with ANY remotoring, find a completed example and try it out. It is all about what you want. On pickup improvement, pages and pages and pages could be written on that. This very day I was working on one of my Cl 47 locosmotive. When I get thirty or forty hours, that screwdriver will get quite a bit dirtier. What is your source of Lima brushes? Enjoyed your content enough to want to make this comment. With a little (simple) TLC they run very well indeed, even after 40 years.

Excellent work on these old Lima loco’s. They do stand up well to newer releases.
Thanks, and I Couldn't agree more...some are better than others but the 47s look good, Regards Keith

Cheers Max, just a bit of bodgelling really, Keith
What superb transformations to these two venerable old girls! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked the video Stephen.
Excellent. Love Lima diesels.
They are great aren't they?
Very enjoyable, more please!
There will be more John but in the meantime I have been neglecting my layout so must get on with that first, Regards Keith
Great detail, and description
Thanks, glad you liked it, Regards Keith

Thanks for the suggestion, might try it on the next modification, Regards Keith
Another wonderful video. Thank you
You are very welcome, Regards Keith
I'm pretty sure WHWW do replacement couplings for the D Rings... so you could replace the rear one for further refinement.
Thanks, I'll check that out, Regards Keith
I have 2 Lima 47s I converted the couplings to small Bachmann ones
Thanks Greg, I may try those sometime, regards Keith
