I am also interested in making sure the books on my physical TBR shelves are the ones that excite me and reflect who I am as a reader right now. Good luck with your goals.
Obviously no pressure, but a video series about the authors sounds amazing!! Interesting goals, I love how reflective and responsive you are about your feelings towards reading as an activity. In my case, no matter how convenient all other formats are, that in-tune feeling you described when reading is strongest with physical books.
I will try to make videos for at least some of the authors if not all! 🌟 There is definitely something about the tactility of physical books that is unbeatable in feeling present. I think it’s also a habit thing though - I’m more used to zone in and out when I take in information digitally (reading news, long articles, random websites) or listening (to radio, podcasts). Happy new year! ✨
I love a wrap up and goal setting video👀Amazing job on your Swedish reading this year!! A lot of my goals for this year are actually pretty similar to yours, and I feel like reconnecting to booktube might help my reading goals.
Your curated shelf plan sounds excellent and doable. I have a bookshelf of favourites and I love having them close at hand; I will pull one out to check something quickly… and end up lost in reading.
Reading for an hour or so each day is definitely a great goal to have and strive for even though it would be difficult to do so every day. Glad you were able to read a lot of Swedish books ad well. Enjoyed the vid!
That’s amazing that you got to judge several book prizes Natalie, that must have been a great experience. I’m doing the same thing with curating my library as although I read 80% from my own shelves, I bought a lot of those in 2024 😉.
At least you read a lot of what came in! 😂 Which I cannot say for myself, I haven’t even counted how many books I bought last year that I haven’t read yet.
Sounds like you had a great reading year! 😊 In 2024, I only read 10 books from my shelf... but used the library a lot. My main goal for 2025 is to reduce my physical TBR -- both by reading books from my shelf and by not buying. I'm curious to hear about the 12 authors you want to read.
I would like to read a little more consistently next year. I haven’t decided what that will look like yet, maybe page count. I hope 2025 is a lovely year for you.
Haha, I’ve definitely done that too! But also, a year long book buying ban could start at any time 😉 (though there is a beauty to having it start 1/1) Happy new year!

Good luck to you too, Heidi! And happy new year 🎉

Me too, the best time of year on the bookish internet 👀 Yay - twins! I’m going to catch up with your videos today

I love that, I also have a shelf filled with favorites and can often feel myself being pulled towards them when I’m passing my shelves.

Agreed! For me it’s all about cultivating the habit and carving out the time. Happy new year!
I managed to read around 35 books from my tbr (not done yet), but I headed for 52 books, which I will try again next year.
Great plan! I definitely hope, regardless of how many books I read, that I read more TBR books this year 👍

I’m always torn between wanting to read my own books and wanting to use the library. I’m glad to hear we’re on the same path, good luck Robyn! 🥂

Yes, that’s definitely something I have in my mind as well! Same to you, Doris! 🩷🎉
I want to do a year long book buying ban as I have many unread...but yesterday I did a book haul. I feel I cheated a bit 😂🙈
