I love the Laxus X Lucy ship. While he may have been an absolute douche at the start, he's grown a lot. I always figured he would be good for Lucy, and would love to see them together. Natsu isn't suited enough for Lucy; while the two do have a good connection, I feel as though them two being together would ruin the connection they have. Laxus isn't as reckless as Natsu is and he would really be able to keep her safe, like how he tried to protect everyone on Tenrou Island, even though he was banished from ever going there, he did it for his guild.
And when the phantom lord thing was going on. I think Mira was asking help from Laxus to help them but Laxus said he will help only if Lucy becomes his girlfriend.

Why do you think as soon as he said that, Mirajane broke the lacrima and cried? Because that Laxus was not the Laxus she knew who loved Fairy Tail. Even though Laxus has changed now, in the final chapter even Hiro said Laxus has options (he referred to Mirajane and Cana, but not Lucy at all). I understand people can ship what they like, but just because they look good together is a very shallow reason to ship two people together imo.

The only moment about Laxus and Lucy was during the grand magic games when Laxus beat up Raven Tail and Flare for Lucy
