It feels like it’s been an age since the first series of Alice in Borderland dropped, based on the popular manga series of the same name. Arriving on our screens in late 2020, the Japanese thriller introduced us to an alternate, desolate Tokyo where a handful of strangers were pitted against each other in a series of often-deadly games decided by brains, brawn, and treachery. Full of twists, betrayals, and emotional losses, it quickly became a fan favorite, and after hitting Netflix’s Top 10 in over 40 countries and territories, it seemed like a no-brainer to commission a second season. But when is it dropping, who's in it, and what is the plot going to be? Well, here’s what we know so far about Alice in Borderland Season 2.

It was really good. But I wanted to see Naksu use her sword one more time in an epic battle. That and I wanted everyone to be visibly surprised by her skills.

I think making this turn from bloodthirsty content of 1st part into more love and philosophical content of human lives values shows the point of view of director and general makers. I could not finish the 2 season, the chemestry that Jung So Min build in th first season was irreplaceable, she had totally diferent personality, (Mysterious, bossy, experienced and action-oriented) and then in the second season they made her seem fragile and constantly dependent on others. Even leaving a bathtub "E3 45min"

Naksu’s soul leaving her body was one of the best scenes I’ve ever seen. It was so beautiful and serene. The entire cast and crew should be very proud of that scene. Just awesome.

I'm kind of disappointed because cho yeong (naksu) decided not to train and reach chisu again to regain her great assassin skills. instead she is satisfied to be just Jang UK's "shadow" and let Jang UK do all the fighting. It could've been so much better if they can both fight. Specially both are powerful

Naksu refused to train because she already had great divine powers. Considering she can take out Uk's Ice Stone and kill him at any time, that makes Naksu the most powerful in the entire series.
She became a damsel in distress XD i was waiting for her comeback since s1 but didnt happen.. Naksu the reason why i watched the series i love watching strong female lead roles. Even she doesnt have the power but i think her adrenaline skill/moves must remain but it didnt happen i wonder why haha

I have some disappointments too for naksu to be in a fight scene alongside with jang uk.. just like in ep1 of season 1…. Fearless and brave naksu!!!
It could have been more epic with Naksu at the end, but I guess they decided to stick to the ML as the main aggressor. In my opinion, they missed an amazing ending to this story, for it's been always about Naksu.
The alchemy of souls worked in a different way in Choyeong / Naksu's case: First, her soul left her original mortally wounded body, as she shifted into Jin Buyeon / Mudeok's body and she became Mudeok (the lost Jin eldest daughter). After she died as Mudeok, she was revived, but her soul overtook Jin Buyeon / Mudeok's original petrified body, so it looked like her original self, and not Mudeok, as Jin Buyeon / Mudeok's soul was thought to be gone.
This was not really the case, because Jin Buyeon/Mudeok was born of the Ice Stone and she was really a reincarnation of powerful Priestess Seolran and co-existed with Choyeong/Naksu in the shadows. In reality, all this was possible, because Naksu did not really use the alchemy of souls to take over Mudeok’s body, but her soul was locked up inside it because Buyeon/Seolran invited Choyeong/Naksu in (see S1E1). It was all Buyeon/Seolran's plan all along.
But Choyeong is no longer Naksu. She's not the same person, she made different choices, and she inherited Jin Buyeon's body divine powers, making her a powerful Jinyeowon priestess, and a "good" soulshifter, just like Master Lee. She no longer needs her former assassin skills to fight. She can also live for a long time, like Master Lee, next to Jang Uk (who's merged with the Ice Stone) and protect his light, with her shadow (Yin/Yang).
So is Naksu completely gone ? If so I'm so gutted
@@Ainra100 No Naksu isn't gone. She chose to be called Choyeong, her given name. Also, Mudeok, as we know her isn't gone, because she was Naksu.
The owner of the body, blind girl Jin Buyeon was actually a reincarnation of the most powerful priestess, and she was rescued and named Mudeok , and she was a blind girl. Jin Buyeon gave Naksu the use of her body in S1E1 and later on, when that body was recovered from the lake, they were both rescued. But this time, Cheoyoung/Naksu's soul was so strong, it took Cheoyoung's/Naksu's form. But it was all a plan of that powerful priestess.
So does it implies that despite the powerful priestess leaving Naksu's body,Naksu inherited the powerful priestess's divine powers?
@@ericannan4908 yes, because the body was actually Jin Buyeon's / Mukdeok's, and it retained it's divine powers after Jin Buyeong's soul, the reincarnation of Priestess Seolran left it. But it had been transformed and it looked like Choyeong / Naksu, ever since she was revived by Master Lee. (Naksu as Mudeok always had these hidden divine powers in S1, that she mistook as her own.)
This was Seolran's plan all along, to fight the Firebird, which in turn was the reason she returned as Jin Buyeon, via the Ice Stone. That body had her divine powers, because of this fact. In the end we see that Choyeong doesn't need to learn fighting skills ever again, because she's still a very powerful priestess. The Alchemy of Souls has some strange side effects, beyond mere soul shifting.

With this whole series ending, I really miss showing Naksu real power. She had been a most vulnerable girl since she soul shifted. At the end of the first season, we see Muedok first saving Jang Uk and then some fighting until he is killed him. In part 2, when Naksu regained her memory and powers, really wonderful things could happen. Unfortunately, part 2 disappointed me a bit. Aside from the great Jang Uk fights, I feel like Naksu was just an ordinary housewife, an ordinary girl who used some energy to put an ice stone in Jin Mu.

I feel like the ice stone’s power was love and an unbreakable bond that will keep their souls drawn together through eternity.
There was too much "Tell, don't show" in the last episode. I think the conclusion of the story would have felt better if there had been 12 episodes instead of 10.
That having been said, I'm glad the story concluded the way it did. I thought Uk and Naksu would end up together, but in the afterlife.
naksu and jang UK's wedding, the part I like most.. they really deserve to be together for always.. thank you for this happy ending... God bless everyone, we'll gonna miss you, AOS people...

@@makzick6705 I do agree, others wanted mudok for jang uk, but mudok is bu yeon and bu yeon is high priestess jin seol ran reborn.. and importantly, jang uk is in love with naksu, not with mu deok or bu yeon...

I just finished season 1 and now of episode 2 of S2. Seeing the difference of the main actress is a big turn off. They should of stopped at episode 20 and made a happy ending. I don't care that I'm being spoiled as I see people really weren't fond of S2. Lead actress changed is at the top of the list, along with a rush story in 10 episodes that didn't need the extra 10. I'm still going to watch the second season but man episode 1 of S2 was like "WTF It feels like starting from new." That's not good when your already 20 episodes deep.

This is like a Korean version of Star Wars. Jang Uk is like a modern day hero version of Darth Vader and the "force" he possesses. His sword is basically a magical light sabor. Jang Uk from season 2 was a completely different character than from season 1. The way Jang Uk talked on season 1 was hilarious. My favorite line was, "If I die, you have to die too", to his master.
Initially excited for return of 1st Naksu actress Go Yoon Jung but lost hope throughout this season. We never see the return of the fearless confident assassin but instead get an emotional damsel in distress Naksu. Endured most of the 2nd season for glimpse of chemistry between main characters which never returned, prob due to absence of Jung So Min (damn I miss her!). Cant blame Go Yoon Jung either cause she was great in her few scenes from 1st season. Just felt portrayal of Naksu was inconsistent from 1st season and character was so absent of her earlier interesting qualities. Happy and satisfied with other aspects of the show including side character relationships/ending but overall majorly disappointed with story line/interaction of two main stars especially compared to S1.
Go Yoon Jung was the best choice for 2nd ss
i was so disappointed i watched season 1 and hoped naksu would come back and her powers too this was a tragic ending and they made her figure weaker and weaker episode by episode i shouldn’t have been like that

I feel the same way about everything you mentioned, except the chemistry. I think we (or at least I) felt more chemistry between JSM and LJW because we saw them for a longer period of time together. But I also think that LJW felt more chemistry with GTJ, as evidenced by his answers on interviews, where he praises her more than JSM and that at some point he only wanted her to film scenes with him because those should be the best ones.
So, I think that our love for JSM blinds us a little bit. Still miss her, and still want to see her at the top of the tree with LJW.
@@IcyAquaMarine I agree I personally think LJW and GTJ had amazing chemistry, I do miss JSM but the chemistry in ssn 2 is better for me its a different side of naksu and yet jang uk falls in love with her shows he will love her no matter how she changes, but ye I wanted to see naksu be the badass female character in the end with awesome skills
The warmth of caring for the other person and the smart move were cool. The reason why viewers are moved by such developments is probably because we are healed by such things.
The blue flower in the eyes, Nax's soul and Soul Ran's soul are still in the Boyan's body. The firebird was defeated by the UK just because it was a fire bird, and I thought it was poor. Fire Bird, Suzaku, Sudden Birds are one of the four gods.
I was surprised to see the blue eyes at the end. Like you said, Seol Ran's soul still shares the body a bit. So I guess she's still a soul shifter. I don't feel bad though because Buyeon's body was just an empty case back when she was born.
There was a lot of theory about naksu sword. I guess it didnt have any significance except for jan uk using his lover sword instead of jang gang sword.
Lee Jae Wook said that they filmed multiple endings that no one knew how the ending will be and he said he was happy to see the happy ending instead of alternative ending.
Season 1 is better than Season 2 that's why until episode 10 only. Unlike season 1 until episode 20. Many people watching the first season.
We watched season 2 aswell but they were allowed only to make 10 episodes to finish so season 2 was a bit rushed plot wise
The blue eyes in the finale scene changed everything.

Storywise, it's absolutely great but I still miss Jung So Min 😪.
To be honest, that season was really disapointing for me, the whole show went back to this fully romantic comedy thing, and yes it was really refreshing to have it in season 1, but I also loved the fight scene and the whole character developpement which wasnt here in s2.
I expected s2 to be a lot more darker and sad but at it the end of the day, it wasn't. Most of the char had thoses "plot armor" and everything was predictable.

It always bothered me to never see jung so min, but in the story even tho it was a bit weird, it did fit... until the last few eps when bu yeon is supposed to take back her body. It is explained she get the physical appaearance of naksu because it was her soul inside, but when bu yeon is taking back the body, she should have her physical appearance (= Jung So Min ). If they did so I would have said the story wasn't quite what I did expect but it was still good, now since they did not, It comfort me in the idea that the whole season 2 plot has been written arround some last minute change of the main actress... which is kinda sad

I kind of get why the writers didn't show naksu's power in season 2. It would have been awesome but l think they wanted to conclude the relationship between Jang uk and Jin bu yeon similar to that of Master seo gyeong and Jin seol ran. As master lee said, Jamg uk was fated to have a life similar to Master seo gyeong as he was born with the power of King's star and Jin bu yeon was anyways the reincarnation of Jin seol ran..also in the last scene where Jang uk and Bu yeon are up that tree in Danhyangokk, Bu yeon says she doesn't neet to train or be a mage as she has divine powers now, meaning she has accepted her role of a poweful priestess and the leader of Jinyowon.
So it is almost like Jang uk and Jin bu yeon are like a reincarnation of the couple Master seo gyeong and Jin seol ran..
Also it was not very clear which soul was protecting the body in season 1. Yet when nakso lost her memories it showed how good and innocent person she is. I also hoped that yul so meets a woman to get rid of his sadness and lives a happy love story coz he deserves one

Season 2 only trash romantic even the last fight was absolutely trash , they focus on the romantic than the whole story and they always put Naksu with that guy why all this??? Love game not funny and I thought I watch cheap romantic, season two really disappointed me and the end is nice but I expect more than that
WRONG - JangUk is obviously the light that saved the world and Naksu is the shadow that protects him by embracing the darkness surrounding him.

I couldn't watch the whole second season. Sorry but Nak-Su isn't a damsel in distress. But that was all I got from the actress. Sad..
I think there are some things you didn't quite understand and I recommend you rewatch the ending and maybe then you will understand who is Jang Uk's real shadow or whose body is Naksu living in.

I'm upset that they never got explain that even though Mu Deok was Yeong/Naksu that she was under the control of Jin Mu at the end of the first season. I was surprised that no one thought it odd, she was literally grabbing her head one minute then becoming a stoic killer the next, I get that after it was revealed that she was Naksu that people would be after her, but at least clear her name of the murders she wasn't responsible for or had any control over. I also wanted to see her regain her powers or be fully revived so she would have a role in defeating the final evil. I also wanted her to have her identity back rather than being called by a name that isn't hers and people thinking that she is Be-yeon of the Jun family.
I cried a lot watching this episode but the ending made me so happy and explained a lot of things I was wondering about since season 1! One of my favourite dramas ❤️
I absolutely love Alchemy of Souls! Thank you for the explanation of part 2. All of what you explained makes perfect sense and helped clarify a few things for me. I loved the happy ending for Jang UK and Jin Bouyeon (please forgive any mispelling). The writers did an amazing job trying up loose ends, while giving fans a happy ending. The actors were so talented and made watching the story unfold simply beautiful. Again, thank you for the explanation! By the way. I cannot wait to add the full series to my home movie collection. I kinda hoped the story could continue, but new actors or different writers, I'm sure, would ruin the magic. ❤
The happy ending is Naksu and Jang UK 😂 Jin bouyeon never exist since she was a death baby the real soul in Jin bouyeon is actually Jin Ran the Devine pretest for 200 years ago
She used the energy of Naksu to regain her full power and helped Jang UK to save the world
At the end she leave the body of Naksu and give a second chance to Naksu and Jang UK to live their love story

Incidentally, I believe Jang Gang put Seol Ran's soul into Buyeon's body -- as she was already dead while in her mother's womb. Especially since he had to use the ice stone to give life back to the body.
Wish there was a bit more on Jang Gang or lore about him in the second season, kind of sad he just disappeared off the series so suddenly

The ending was awesome although I'm quite confused as to whose soul was in the girl's body two years later, Naksu (real name Cho Yeong) or Bu Yeon? Bu Yeon's name was always mentioned as the girl whom Jang Uk was out there catching the Jinyowon relics, Bu Yeon helping out in the selection of new mages, and Bu Yeon helping the new King find a wife. Naksu's or Cho Yeong's name was never mentioned.

Basically naksu’s soul is in buyeon’s body in the end. Since solran soul left buyeon’s body after fire bird died. And buyeon had already died in womb .

So, I have a question I struggled with in this 2nd season.
In the 1st season we see naksu's body be burned. But in this 2nd season she is brought to life by Master Lee and it's Naksu's body again when it was supposed to be Bu Yeon's aka Mu Deok.
So my understanding is that, it was supposed to be Mu Deok's body but they changed actresses?! But that actress happened to be Naksu in the 1st season?!
Also, Bu Yeon aka Seol Ran had like 3 different shapes. She appeared as a blind kid, as blind Mu Deok and as blind Naksu.
Master Lee said that as she healed she would look like Naksu and not Buyeon, and Lady Kim knew that going into it. Hope that helps.
@@JTsGrl1381 but then what was the point in saving Bu Yeon? To bring her back to life she would have to get rid of Bu Yeon's soul right? So we would have Bu Yeon's body looking like Naksu's and all that would be left would be Naksu's soul anyway.
I guess her plan (as bad as it sounds) was to keep her just so that she had a child and then get rid of her as she suggested. Just because that was Bu Yeon's body. I see

It annoys me that they rushed season 2 and it was not done as well as season 1. Also they left many things un explained. Let alone the contradiction in his feelings when nakso died he told songrim leader that he is sure they used nakso to kill him. Then when yul sol told him about her he said she has no excuse and he left knowing he needed to kill her …. Whaaaaaat ??? And the usage of the bills ringing was ignored .. im annoyed

A light that embraces a shadow, will never lost in darkness" Bu Yeon/Seol-Ran was clearly talking about Jang Uk as the light that time and she return Cho Yeong's soul to give back to him as his shadow.

Very disappointed in 2nd season they changed Me deok... The one who was originally in season 1..how can they change me deok in season 2 wid different face.. If anyhow original director of this series is looking here.. Bring back orignl meo deok .. Her original meo deok.. This new face be youn as meo deok not looking great... season 2 would be more interesting if the assassin made Jin Buyeon character a bit harsh even though in a memory loss state. She only losses her memories but his character should remain and not a total change, Go yoon jung demonstrated to us a highly skilled, disciplined and great assassin 's characteristic as Naksu in the opening of season 1, I think most viewer/fan are looking forward of that woman to return, not a girlish type of Naksu. Anyway, still nailed it in my personal opinion.
I've watched this series over and over to fully understand it but you brought up some things I missed. Thank you for that. I loved the ending it satisfied everyone getting what they wanted but it would have been awesome if the mystery boyfriend of Heo Yun-Ok was Sang-Ho I just thought Sang-Ho needed to have a girlfriend. I was also sad that So-i had to die but I guess someone had to.
If there will be a season 3, the couple will be hunting relics...

It should have been Part one is 1-30 episodes, not split apart like this. I can't help but think that they inserted a Netflix producer in there and muddled things up. Enjoyable, but could have been better. I like the happy ending. They waited too long to recognize one another. 10 episodes in Part 2 was not enough. Hope there is a Part 3.
Why did she still have blue eyes in the ending? The blue eyes were supposed to be a side effect from soul shifting. Master Lee said Choyeung/Naksu left the body and only Buyeon remained. She shouldn’t have blue eyes anymore.

Jang UK killed the fire bird too easily. It should required Master Lee, Naksu and UK combined with UK finish it.

Agree. We must remember that this is a great love story developed over both seasons. Wish they'd showed UK's reaction when he got his shadow back. I definitely would love to see another season with UK's children and the other children including the King's.

I didn’t like it when they brought a very regular girl and said that if she trains, she will even be able to take over uk. It doesn’t make sense cause uk has the ice stone power.
Buyeon was dead since childhood then Sol ran who want to achieve her goal then enter buyeon body ND started living as mudeok then naksu too enter inside buyeon body too which means naksu ND Sol ran re inside buyeon body

I was very happy with the ending as I was anticipating a tragic end. I am confused though about Naksu’s soul. Cho Yeong is now back in the body and Sol Ran has left . Was Naksu always Cho Yeong in Naksu’ s body?
Cho Yeong just changed her name to Naksu not her body. She only changed her body when she became Mudeok.
Yes, and Naksu is just a nickname people gave to Cho Yeong for all the killings as an assassin.

Cho Yeoung is Naksu. When she was growing up being trained as an assasin, she was named or known as NAKSU.
Cho Yeoung is Naksu.
Buyeon is reincarnation OS Seol-ran.
Buyeon and Naksu is in same body (named as Mudeok) by the old woman who saw her and raised her.
Buyeon/Seol-ran needs to take over body to release the firebird thus Naksu's soul will need to leave tge body (her death).
Once the firebird is gone, Buyeon/Seol-ran soul left the body and rewarded Cho yeong/Naksu a new beginning.
In the end, Buyeon/Seol-ran soul can now rest in peace and rewardef Cho Yeong/Naksu for her love with Jan UK thus getting her soul and body back.
It would be nice if naksu would have met the adult bo yeon
I feel like they rushed part 2. They wasted Naksu’s character. The first ep really got me. Naksu looked so cool during her fight scene. I was really hoping there would be another scene like that in Part 2 so I got a bit disappointed. I am hopeful for Part 3 where Jang Uk and Naksu would fight together the remaining relics.

Season 1 was amazing, but season 2 needs to many explanations. As well I do not like a final 'one year later' jump. It feels like being pushed out of the action. But beautiful, magical action scenes and I really enjoyed the orange-teal colored scenes

I liked how they imply naksu who represent the tormented soul corrupted by Jin mu is no more but Cho yeoung is also reborn as herself uncorrupted. I think sol Ren the priestess knew what master Lee would do and that the ceremony was not only a pact but an understanding the assassin naksu as no more only her old uncorrupted self Cho yeong whose name means shadow. I agree ceremony played a part. Let nothing separate these two. But I think the priestess also I tended it that way.
