This was the first single from her 2001 album. Released in April of that year. She was 22. Same age she passed. She 1st worked with snakes for a photoshoot with David LaChapelle in 2000. They brought them back for the video in which she used about 10 pythons & 40 smaller snakes. Her uncle & CEO of her record company bought her one the small Boa Constrictors in the video. She felt snakes kinda resembled her persona for this album because they have a "mysterious, dark edge to them but they are also gentle creatures." This video inspired Cardi B. to use snakes in her video WAP. So Aaliyah is still inspiring people to this day👑 This was the moment I fell in love with Aaliyah 😂 watching this video on 106 & Park. I had also developed a fascination with snakes also but now i do not like them lmao
I'm not even surprised she still inspiring people. She's so talented and respected as well as rightfully crowned as Queen of RNB And Pop. I really respect and like the facts she liked snakes that's really cool!
Some more upbeat songs from Aaliyah you should check out are Try Again, More Than A Woman, Are You That Somebody, and Hot Like Fire! And she was in fact grown here, she was 22 years old in this video. From interviews she stated how much she actually loved snakes and was excited to have them in this video, she even owned a pet snake before she passed away.
More than A women, One In a million, Hot Like fire, I care 4U, If your girl Only Knew...so many great aaliyah songs! Oh and Try Again of course...and 4 Page Letter 😂
Lol this was when Aaliyah was in the Occult, she was playing the role of Akasha/The Great Mother all through this video and she was playing the role of the queen of the dead/the great mother, the black one, the serpent queen, mainly known as Kali.
Aaliyah didn't start wearing heavy makeup until she got in her 20s. That's why I love her last videos...she was blossoming into a beautiful woman.
I always thought she looked better without it, never needed it, I think she's her most in rock the boat
Right and she didn’t start wearing sexy clothes until that last album t
She was 22 in this! So iconic. definitely react to Try Again by her next it’s her most upbeat and popular single, video is so good
Absolutely I look forward to reacting to that!! Thank you!
Try again is technically the first ever 'edm' song to reach number 1 in the USA (altho not Edm as we know it, its still classed as edm)
