What Natsu is experiencing here is victim's guilt. As a victim of abuse, he rightfully holds anger, hatred, and resentment towards his abuser. The problem is that his abuser technically doesn't exist anymore (old Endeavor), leaving Natsu with all the anger, hatred, and resentment with nowhere to direct that towards. In conjunction with that, the rest of the family appears to be warming up to Endeavor's efforts to be a better person, which makes Natsu feel like shit having to hate someone like that, hence "I'm not as kind as Shoto". Endeavor realizes this and that's why he hesitated because he didn't want to compound that problem by making Natsu feel like he owes Endeavor one for saving him.
Well, that and he feared he almost lost another son so he had that come bubbling up at that moment so he was a little selfish in the moment hugging Natsuo and Bakugo for saving him.
I'm sorry for what happened to you. I hope you're healthy, happy, and living life the way you want, with people you want. 🌞. It makes me very sad that you have such insight into the dynamics of abuse. Thank you for sharing your thoughts into this Endeavor family and the rescue scene. Natsuo's feelings and reactions "..his abuser doesn't exist anymore". I was confused by Endeavor's explanation for hesitating to save Natsuo but you've made it clear. I can understand Natsuo's reaction to Endeavor more than Shoto and Fuyumi. I guess I share Natsuo's temperment(not sure if that's the right word). Once hurt I'm not one to trust again or let go of resentment. When my absentee Father would re-enter my family's life, I was respectful but was always suspicious and could never fully embrace him. Horikoshi is 🐐 for his characters and world building. Just Brilliant
one thing i love about this episode thats kinda overlooked is that its not that bakugo wont tell anyone his hero name he just needs to tell one person first which is best jeanist which was his first hero teacher because hes the one that told bakugo to figure out a good hero name so thats a really cool thing that there doing with him for me at least lmao
That's kinda nice. I guess Best Jeanist had more of an impact on Bakugou than he let on. It seemed like Bakugou wasn't with Jeanist 's way of doing things and anything Best Jeanist had to say. Typical Bakugou.
Rei's been in hospital for over 10 years, Endeavor's behavior destroyed her and the children. Plus it's only been less than 1 year that Endeavor's changed his abusive ways. Remember how he talked to Shoto (and All Might) at the UA sports festival, he was still dehumanizing Shoto. That was less than 1 year ago because class 1-A is still in their first year. I seriously doubt there's a chance of a Rei - Endeavor relationship reconciliation and a 1 big happy family ending. I think Endeavor is right, if he loves his family he'll do what's best for them and not the selfish thing like he's been doing in the past. Removing himself will allow his Wife and children a chance to heal. With time maybe Endeavor can develop a healthy relationship with the members of his family who are open to it.
Well rei did defend him infront of their children and did say that endeavor was continually sending her favourite flowers Even before the sports festival Guilt has been eating away at endeavor ever since toya's death but his madness for shoto to become the ultimate successor to him was still stronger But personally i believe that there is a chance for endeavor and rei to patch things up, cuz there is definitely still love between them but endeavor is just afraid to show his face to her cuz he doesn't know how she'll react or how to face her after all this time Point is endeavor wants to atone, but he doesn't deserve forgiveness however that doesn't mean that he can't get it Cuz it all depends on rei if she wants to forgive him or not
Last season, Rei actually defended Endeavor when Natsu said he didn't care about what he did. So she's open to the possibility, the bad memories and her uncertain mental state are the only things that stand in the way. For now, Natsu is the only one who is still closed, but looks like in this episode Endeavor managed to crack the armor a little. All the ingredients for their family to heal are there now what is left, is just time which Endeavor kinda provided with his decision.

The “Keeping up with the Todorokis” jokes never end! 😅In all seriousness though, this is such a weird and kinda freaky situation. While I genuinely believe that Endeavor feels bad, it’s also kinda... hard for me to care? It all just feels like too little too late for me. And honestly, it’ll probably take a lifetime’s worth of atonement before he really proves anything to me. But yeah, bad nights and trauma aside, these were some pretty cool episodes.
Do you really need to spam this damn comment on every single video on this topic. You just sound like a picky person. It doesn’t matter if it’s too late, if the family wants to forgive him than they can.
@@u.sagent5091 I don’t see much of a reason to rephrase it too much since I think I made the point pretty clear. And honestly, I’m usually not that picky when it comes to these sorts of things. It’s just that when someone says that they want to do something specific, I’ll probably be holding them to those words. And that applies to Endeavor with his “I want to atone,” thing.
Pretty sure the person Bakugo wants to tell his hero name to first is Best Jeanist since that was his first real mentor and person that didn’t really view him as just a violent hero. And he showed genuine sadness that Best Jeanist was still missing in action during their Christmas party.
I love how shook Bakugou and Midoriya were when the driver barked right back at him 🤣. Gave him a taste of his own loud and aggressive medicine..... and why was he so stylish?! Driver got the drip
I think Endeavor's not at the table because he understands how awful he was in the past and cannot even imagine a future of being with his family. Shoto, Natsu, and especially Rei have a lot of trauma stemming from his actions and that kind of lifelong pain can't always be overcome no matter how much time and care is given. Endeavor has solemnly accepted this, and now he's doing what he thinks is best to support them; giving them what they deserve while fading away from their lives.
THIS…THIS RIGHT HERE! This is TOP TEIR WHOLESOME! And I was so shook and super happy I got a chance to watch this as an anime lover. And couldn’t wait to see how you both felt about it 💯 Love u guys❤️👌🏾
I find Endeavor so interesting as a Character. What drove him was beating All Might to become the number one hero and he finally becomes exactly what he wanted, is now realizing all the torment he caused his family because of it. Its like now what? I'm finally the hero I made my whole family crazy for.
It is a mistake, you'd only know if you read the manga from the beginning, in the manga Touya had the exact same hair in the flashback playing ball and in his picture, he never went under a "transformation". While in the anime they not only got the color wrong, they also changed the shape of his hair in the flashback scene. The author tried fixing it and added the red color to the story and gave us some chapters "explaining" why it happened, so originally it was a mistake, but he decided to use it for the story.
hard to say since we never got an "Aizawa Gaiden" adaptation so it may not feel as natural for people who only follow the anime if the whole backstory is shoved into an episode.
It's a a surprising and CORRECT choice by Endeavor to stay away, let the rest of the family heal together APART from the rapist/wife beater/child abuser until THEY are 100% ready. and only THEN does he get to join, no matter how "ready" HE is before.
"Paint Man" aka Banksy probably 😂😂 Nooo Hawks got too much swag to die. (Hawks and Dabi drip with that Kakashi & Itachi level coolness) As for the schedule, I think they're going on a break due to a lot of events happening in Japan right now. But imo they chose a good episode to leave us on. I like that they're using "atonement" and not "redemption" - wording matters. I honestly don't have an answer for what is the correct way to go about this family. Kohei Horikoshi (👏🏾) structured the story of the Todoroki family issues to where I can understand everybody's point/perspective. I'm leaning more towards Shoto though (can't forgive the abuse he's done, but atoning will take work-years of genuine work due to 10+ years, five people traumatized-to repair what little he can. I think I'm only open to it because we saw his fight with that High-End Nomu and what it represented for him personally). But I also agree with the other siblings and the mother. We the audience hear Endeavor's internal thoughts/struggle so we know he's trying, but it's ultimately up to his family, the victims, to choose whether they accept it or not; this is why I think he told Natsu that he wants to atone, so that it's in their power to make that decision - not his. And rightfully so. They should never feel like they owe him forgiveness. I have no solution on how they'll move forward. And that's not even everything addressed, we don't know what will happen when/if Dabi enters the picture 😩. Good subject focus this episode.
it is illegal to use quirk so natsuo does not have a chance to save himself. only heroes or students who have license (well, they still need a guidance of pro) who can use their quirks. this was actually the issue way back season 2, when shoto, deku, and iida use their quirks illegally even they use it to save their selves and save Hero Native. Dont forget Ending's statement "Heroes don't kill even things get crazy" lol

Kind of a "separate the character from the person behind it" lesson going on there, except in Endeavor's case, the character was the person, but he's going through some stuff that's making him change.
We need to learn more of the Todoroki family. I know it still looks like it now, but the blame is not totally on Endeavor. Mostly, but not totally. Other family members contributed to this in different ways... but it'll be awhile before we see how.
