    The old rule said if the batsmen crossed before the catch was made then then the batsman who was on the other end gets to face the next delivery. This makes sense as you want the person who was in the middle to take the strike as opposed to the new guy coming in. In most cases they dont have enough time to make more than one run while the ball is in the air. They might take a second if the ball is dropped. Now they have changed the rule that irrespective of what happens while running if a batsman is out caught then the new batsman has to face the next ball.

    If you look carefully, Johnson could see Dhoni coming in, just after his follow through and he decided to block Dhoni. That is the reason, Dhoni got angry.

    Dhoni wanted Raina to cross so that Raina gets the strike after Dhoni is caught out. If Dhoni is dropped, then India gets 1 run.

    in cricket if you are about to be caught out, and your runner crossed the half way point of the pitch, while the ball is still in the air, then the runner will become at bat, not the up coming batsman for the next delivery.

    I have always told my teammates to run. It's just when you sky a ball you are disappointed because you don't expect the catch to be dropped but every run you score when the ball is live counts but if the ball is caught, the runs scored are nullified. but if you run 3 and the ball is dropped then you get 3 runs. I would say though, in the death, with the old rule, you wouldn't necessarily want to run more than one run to ensure that if the ball is caught, that the new batter goes to the non strikers end but since that law was removed, if doesn't matter now so just run the runs.

    To answer to your first question after your reaction, "If the current batsman thinks he will be out via catch by the opponents fielder, he would want the batsman on the non-stricker end to take the current batsman position to face the bowler in the next ball. Because, he is much more in fhe flow of the game and is used to the pitch. And if they don't rotate the strike, the new batsman will have to face the bowler, who will need a couple of balls to settle down. And in a last overs it would be a waste of a ball.
    And alo, yes, it would be an extra run earned..... So that's what DHONI is doing.❤

    What is this "proven fact" sh!t about Australians not being able to take the heat. Your OPINION, which I disagree with. The great West Indian sides of the 70s and 80s were great at absorbing intimidation and using it against their aggressors. But Australia has always been happy to fight in the trenches. Think Bodyline, Rick McCosker in the Centenary Test coming out to bat with a broken jaw, Dean Jones in India cramping and vomiting beside the pitch in oppressive heat but still fighting on to make a double century. And even today, Mitchell Starc taking a wicket with a broken finger. Have you really thought out that comment or is that a bit of bias showing?

    • @CricketforAmericans
      @CricketforAmericans  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not bias nor is it hate. Just saying what I’ve noticed. It really showed for me in the Indian tour of Australia last time. They were all hot and heavy when India used tactics to prolong the game but they have no issues using intimidation tactics and doing what is needed to win. They like to sledge but get all upset when they are sledged upon.

      @@CricketforAmericans Allegedly, lol. The game has changed in the last few years and become a lot more PC and tactics that used to be used are now frowned upon. But the great cricket series that I can remember, dating back to the early 1970s when the "ugly Australians" first emerged under Ian Chappell would embrace getting down and dirty with the opposition
