For my part I would like to see walls from granite and phyllite. These are the most common types of rock where I live and I have a future walling project on my property, so watching pros working these rocks would be nice.
Working with round stone. My neighbor has a wall that has a lot of interlocking round stones and comes out flat on top. Between 1/2 a meter and a 3/4 of a meter tall and it is gorgeous.
Different types of stone, from different areas, dictate construction methods. I would like to see the technique for laying each type of stone in a farm wall setting.
I would love to hear more about how to incorporate hedge systems alongside walls, like is shown at 1:58. Is this a traditional pairing? Seems like the wall and hedge fill a similar role. What kind of spacing is used, are there any special considerations for maintaining the wall/hedge in such close proximity? Also curious what species are used. I'm asssuming typical UK species hedge mix (hazel, blackthorne, etc)? Thanks m8, top content, beautiful walling as always. edit: also is that tradcrafts shirt available online/international shipping? Looks sick
As far as i know it's not a usual pairing, it's just something we have done on our small farm to help biodiversity and provide a bit more shelter. It's a mix of hawthorne, blackthorne and hazel. Planted about 30inch or so from the wall so as long as the hedge is maintained and they dont become large trees it shouldnt affect the wall. Trad craft T-shirt available at the next Trad Craft festival on 1st weekend of September this year. I'll post details when we've got it planned. cheers
Working with round and natural granite (abundant where I'm from)
Great job 👍

I'm hoping to do some videos on more stone types this year. There's not much granite nearby so I'll need to scout some out.
Would love to see a retaining wall repair! Great stuff thanks

Id like to hear Bill talk about waiting for Pippa!

This kind of in depth series would be great, and if resources allow that could be expanded to other countries as well. Greetings from Finland!
I'll see what I can do. There's a lot of different stone types within 2 hours of where I live so I'll plan some Spring road trips.
Setting out profiles from scratch, widths, heights, etc.
More scarves!!
It'll be the next video. just finishing a big awkward retaining wall this next week.
I wanna see what you do for lunch on these big jobs.
cheese sandwich, 2 boiled eggs and a cuppa tea.

Are there any differences doing curved walls (like a tower)? Does it have any advantages?
Corners, please.
