I was 15 in 1979 and I remember the great new songs that were released almost every week. 79 was the best year ever for music, so many truly great new songs, you would have loved it, I certainly did.
About an hour after I heard this song in 1979, I was standing tall on the yellow footprints at MCRD USMC/San Diego. Great, scary memories. OOOORAH!
Played this when I DJ'd and would double loop and use echo at certain points and people would dance their asses off for a full 15 minutes and beg for more.
that sounds great, I'd say there was a lot of scope for cool echo-ing and doubling, there's so much space in this tune, especially the extended version

Yeah, it didn’t chart until 1979. But remained strong after then. Part of the radio space. Since most radio listeners also drove daily, how could you not! NOT groove to THIS?

I can listen this sound endlessly and never get burned out on it. Something about this song that always elevates my mood no matter what. It's a "one hit wonder" but a masterpiece. There's a lot going on in the song and it definitely took some real musicians to come with it all and put it together like they did. Awesome.

One of the best rock tunes of its time..A "One Hit Wonder" but what a hit it was way back in '79!! Still cruise downtown at age 55 with this cranked up in my little Tacoma. All I can say is this will always be one Bad Ass song by Sniff 'n The Tears...this extended version is AWESOME!! Thanks for posting an all time favorite of mine.
This longer version of the song is CLEARLY better than the original, it has about a minute more of bass lines, guitar parts, etc. Much more grooving...

Thanks for uploading, I never knew there was a genuine extended mix of this from the time, not just modern re-edits. I first heard it in Boogie Nights, it's used so well as the backdrop for the NYE 1979 party. I don't get a chance to play it much as a DJ but whenever I do someone always comes up and asks me what's the name of it and I'm always happy to tell them. I didn't know the name myself for years. I hope it enters the public consciousness soon as it's too good a song to stay as obscure as it is.

@patriotpagan I have it on vinyl, believe or not i found it in a cut out bin in the early 80's and yes it is awesome cranked up on my Infinity speakers but i thought this was a special version, it seems to be mixed different but I am aware of how online music has been modified and usually don't sound all that great on a real stereo but this mix was unusual
