I must admit at the end of the series I was surprised to see that Shiro was gay. However I was very pleased that someone would create such a powerfull gay male character. So many times we are presented as weak and having exaggerated female behaviors. Shiro was a strong male character and leader. It just so happened he was attracted to men. I really liked this.
Friendly reminder than Shiro fought Sendak twice (that was shown) and survived both times.
