As a reptile fanboy since his release, I was super scared he was going to be a kameo character but seeing the TLC the team put into his story, fighting style, and design, I am floored with disbelief. Thanks to everyone working on this game. This looks fantastic!
this is a huge win for Mortal Kombat 3D Era fans. Seeing Ashrah and Havik back makes me feel like i’m 10 years old playing Deception again! Can’t wait to play this game
With Reiko and Nitara probably becoming playable this game will be a huge W for 3D Era fans. although i think is weird that there is nothing about Shujinko and Hotaru yet.

Even with the leaked Reiko footage, aren't we set to get 6 more new characters?
Ed Booon, older mk fan that really got into it due to MK D.A. and Deception. Bring Hotaru back even as an NPC. Great character model with plenty of potential and unique as he's more neutral than a villain.

He believed if he served Shao he wouldn't get killed and he might find a way to Bing back his race and home realm. You could technically argue he has always been a good guy, he only served Shao out of self preservation and was probably led to believe by Shao that his race would be restored as a reward for his loyalty.

He was always deeper than he seemed, you just had to get past the constant re-designs and shallow story glimpses to get it. And while this is another redesign, it feels like they're trying to reinvent him into a cohesive and more engaged state. I'm cautiously optimistic.

After last 2 stories with special forces and kids, too much SF with Cronica, Geras and Shinok's sister which made MK stopped being fighting game lorewise this is exactly what we deserve. It's like F&F would start to be night racing car movie with tunning and cool music again .
Great to finally see Ashrah, Havik and Sareena after all these years. Reptile looks AMAZING. They definitely poured their hearts out to this game, and this is hands down the best roster EVER
Ashrah earned her spot solely for her unique backstory of her being a demon that is trying to purify her soul by killing those who are causing evil and I really like the demon becoming an angel of death look she has going on now. Now we just need Taven and Daegon to round out the 3D era fighters that deserve to come back and play a role in this new timeline.
The fact that Havik hits you so hard in his fatal blow that it exposes his bones which he then uses to stab you is exactly what I wanted out of his character in MK1. I can't wait to main him once this game comes out
Love that some of the PS2 era characters will be making a return in this game, especially Havik. I always thought he was a really cool character who didn't get enough to do in this series, and I'm very psyched to see what kind of unhinged mayhem he's gonna bring to the table.
Havik in particular always seemed to be around pulling strings in the background of the story and comics but never got to be much. He seemed to be in a similar category to Shang Tsung and Quan Chi.

Did anybody notice that haviks xray has his punch his opponent so hard that his own hands tear off before he stabs them with his armbones? That shits pretty metal right there. I know his whole character is like that but the xray is a blink or youll miss it kinda thing
For those confused, in the original series Reptile only appeared human as a form of camouflage, but after most of his species was wiped out, he lost control of himself and slowly became more Reptile-y. So this isnt too far off from the original (if i remember correctly)
This gave me chills! The devs listened to their fanbase, and it shows. I love how everyone is seemingly written with such respect to who they are in the series. Reptile is no longer a jobber, and Ashrah & Havik look really good. Mortal Kombat 1 has the potential to be the best in the entire series, so far! Next month guys...

Yup, it was absolutely brilliant. It freed them to use the 3D era characters in however way they saw fit while also breaking away from incredibly tired dynamics like Raiden, Shinnok, etc...
Most of these redesigns are really just perfect. Definitely helping restore my faith in my favourite characters after my last favourite was done dirty.
Last year was the 20th anniversary of Deadly Alliance, the start of that era. I guess bringing a lot of those characters back is NetherRealm's way to celebrating it. The 3D era was not the most definitive era of MK but I have a lot of nostalgia for it, mainly due to how great they were as single-player games.
this game truly embodies the best version of every character. It's ridiculous the amount of detail and uniqueness in their fighting style. This game looks incredible. September 19th can't come quickly enough!

From being an underdeveloped character and something of a punching bag in so many MK games, it looks like Reptile is now a legit badass. Kudos to the MK devs!
I'm so glad that kids can play such an amazing game nowadays, and kind of sad for myself that couldn't play duch a cool design grafics mk as a kid. But I'm still hyp as an adult for mk1 to play.
I can't believe we got Havik, Sareena, and Ashrah all in this trailer. Reptile's concept being based around both a human and lizard form is radical, and I am really happy to see the direction he's been taken in. Hopefully with Havik being confirmed we can see Hotaru come back too! I'd love to see what NRS could do with him given how much they've improved the confirmed returning 3D era characters.
Let's not get carried away with Hotaru and just appreciate the fact that NRS is officially no longer overlooking or overshadowing the 3D era, but actually embracing it for once.

@@smartino546 In my opinion, Ashrah was by far one of the most interesting characters introduced in the 3D era from a lore, design, AND gameplay perspective. She has a very unique set of abilities compared to the rest of the cast (light magic, voodoo doll, etc.), a very unique design that stands out from every other female in the franchise's history, and an interesting backstory and plotline that sadly didn't have much time to be properly fleshed out because of Midway's bankruptcy. I very much am a fan and wanted her back because of her potential and not nostalgia. If Hsu Hao or Jarek got revealed I wouldn't be excited over it. And even if it WAS just for nostalgia, so what? Why does other people's happiness over a video game character affect you so much that you feel a need to demand they explain WHY it makes them happy?
@@F13FAR0 Nope. They're assist only. Although Sub Zero and Scorpion both have Kameo versions, so it's possible for a character to be both. Some characters are only one though.
@@F13FAR0 No. Like racergamer3733 said, they're assist fighters only that are completely separate from the base roster. Some characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero will be both playable fighters and Kameo fighters. Others will be just one or the other.

So we got Reptile (I love his ability to shapeshift) Ashrah, & Havik playable, and Sareena as a Kameo. I'm really loving this cast of characters and how they look. They all look awesome.

Reptile by far is my favorite mk character, being honest. I'm in absolute love with the way reptile shapeshifts into his natural form, and I love the design for both his forms!

How so? I mean I’m excited by the PLAYABLE characters but I don’t count the kameo characters as part of the roster. Literally a glorified/longer version of a Kombat consumable that you can find in MK 11, not really excited about the whole kameo fighters. If anything, it’s more of a tease/let down. You can’t even play as these characters
I like that Reptile finally has a true human form. I've always preferred the more human reptile, rather than him going full...well, reptile. I also like what they've done with Ashirah, it's great to see more 3d era characters make a comeback. Finally, Havik is a great addition as well. I'm not the biggest fan of making his face more human-like, but ultimately I'm glad he's in the game.

According to Wikipedia, this is the second time that the Mortal Kombat timeline has been rebooted. Meaning that the first reboot would've been with Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011.

TBH when the new Mortal Kombat movie came out I was hoping the main character would turn out to be reptile (bit of a rewrite gotta admit), cause he's overdue for some starlight

This is the first mk where it doesn't feel like we're having the settle for a small portion of the forgotten characters come back. We're getting all of them! I hope the roster ends up huge like Armageddon.

Last year was the 20th anniversary of Deadly Alliance, the start of that era. I guess bringing a lot of those characters back is NetherRealm's way to celebrating it.
The 3D era was not the most definitive era of MK but I have a lot of nostalgia for it, mainly due to how great they were as single-player games.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate literally everything about these trailers? Especially how PERFECTLY the music fits the action?!

I can't believe we got Havik, Sareena, and Ashrah all in this trailer. Reptile's concept being based around both a human and lizard form is radical, and I am really happy to see the direction he's been taken in. Hopefully with Havik being confirmed we can see Hotaru come back too! I'd love to see what NRS could do with him given how much they've improved the confirmed returning 3D era characters.

@@smartino546 In my opinion, Ashrah was by far one of the most interesting characters introduced in the 3D era from a lore, design, AND gameplay perspective. She has a very unique set of abilities compared to the rest of the cast (light magic, voodoo doll, etc.), a very unique design that stands out from every other female in the franchise's history, and an interesting backstory and plotline that sadly didn't have much time to be properly fleshed out because of Midway's bankruptcy. I very much am a fan and wanted her back because of her potential and not nostalgia. If Hsu Hao or Jarek got revealed I wouldn't be excited over it. And even if it WAS just for nostalgia, so what? Why does other people's happiness over a video game character affect you so much that you feel a need to demand they explain WHY it makes them happy?

Reptile and Havik in the game are huge but I’m very hyped for Stryker. He was one of my go to characters in MK9.
Don't get TOO hyped. Stryker is in the game only as a Kameo fighter. He won't be on the main playable roster.

@@F13FAR0 Nope. They're assist only. Although Sub Zero and Scorpion both have Kameo versions, so it's possible for a character to be both. Some characters are only one though.

Reptile by far is my favorite mk character, being honest. I'm in absolute love with the way reptile shapeshifts into his natural form, and I love the design for both his forms!

How so? I mean I’m excited by the PLAYABLE characters but I don’t count the kameo characters as part of the roster. Literally a glorified/longer version of a Kombat consumable that you can find in MK 11, not really excited about the whole kameo fighters. If anything, it’s more of a tease/let down. You can’t even play as these characters

I like that Reptile finally has a true human form. I've always preferred the more human reptile, rather than him going full...well, reptile. I also like what they've done with Ashirah, it's great to see more 3d era characters make a comeback. Finally, Havik is a great addition as well. I'm not the biggest fan of making his face more human-like, but ultimately I'm glad he's in the game.

According to Wikipedia, this is the second time that the Mortal Kombat timeline has been rebooted.
Meaning that the first reboot would've been with Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011.
