The entire Blind adventure to the grocery store with guide dog Arabella!

  • This is the entire shopping adventure I posted in two separate videos previously. . Part one was the adventure to the grocery store, part two was the shopping portion. I thought it would be a good idea to post the two videos together just in case there were those of you who wanted to watch the whole adventure in one piece. If you are new to my channel, I am completely blind with no light perception, and I am relying on my new guiding angel, Arabella Faith, along with my hearing,, both of our amazing skills, and oh yes, through the help of wonderful sales associates to help make this shopping Adventure a success!
    If you are interested in watching more videos of how I live my life completely blind, I would love for you to subscribe. I am always challenging myself out of my comfort zone, and through my videos, I am hoping to open the eyes of the world to see blindness in a different yet beautiful light! Blindness is not a death sentence, blindness is beautiful!

      All cross-walks here in the UK play a beeping sound when it's safe to cross, or have small mechanical rotary dials underneath the buttons that spin when it's safe to cross. Random piece of interesting info :)

    Plus, she also owns a dog that looks just like yours but is male and his name is "Gallop".. named after the noise a horse makes because Gallop is so big 😆

      That would be really fun, and I have reached out to her several times to collaborate but no response. She knows me and has commented on some of my videos in the past. Maybe someday she’ll take me up on the offer! I really think with our positive Outlook on blindness, along with our upbeat personalities and our two beautiful black lab guide dogs, we can help open the eyes of the world to see blindness in a more beautiful and joyful light! Maybe comment to her on one of her newest videos and share your idea with her. :-)

      Joy Ross that’s to bad she hasn’t responded. I would love to collaborate with you one day. I am also a visually impaired person with a guide dog and have started a TH-cam channel recently. Though I don’t have that many subscribers, I’m hoping that in the near future I can still collaborate with other blind TH-camrs. I find it very important to educate the cited community that blind/low vision people do the same things they do but perhaps in a different way. 💕 what I like about your channel is that you show the world how a blind person does things independently and that is what I want to show on my channel but with my own experiences as a young college student. ☺️ I really hope you see this comment! ❤️

    • @Positivekitten
      @Positivekitten 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      That’s actually a huge issue with in the visually impaired community. There have been a lot of injuries and close calls. I’m not sure if there has ever been a fatality to a VIP, But it is definitely something that needs to be addressed. Some cities even have electric trains that are very very quiet and if you happen to be crossing tracks at the wrong time and there is no warning, you’re screwed.

Much safer for you and Arabella to stand at the beginning of the pop-ups and not at the end of the pop-ups that's very close to the street. I worried when I saw that video and how close the vehicles were coming to you and Arabella and they were making their right hand turn.

    Here in the Netherlands, the lights make a noise. When the pedestrian light is red, it will tick really slowly, around 60bpm. And when the light is green, it'll start ticking really fast (around 600 bpm!) And when the light is about to turn red, the light starts blinking so when the light goes out, the ticking stops which means the ticking will be 600bpm, 1 second of silence, 600 bpm, 1 second of silence until it turns red again and the ticking goes back to 60bpm :)

    I find ridiculous that some people have the nerve to comment that the blind youtubers are faking it 🤦‍♀️ Just because these people are more able and more successful and skillful, doesn't mean they have to fake it 😁 They are just that: more able, skillful and successful than you. Just deal with it and move on

    • @Positivekitten
      @Positivekitten 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sedmidivka Unfortunately, there are so many people that think that if a person does not “look blind”, As in does not have the stereotypical characteristics you see in movies and television, then they “must” be faking. They just assume that all blind people look like Stevie Wonder. What I wish people would realize is that there are so many different causes of blindness and vision impairment and each has its own characteristics. There are many blind people who, like Joy or Molly Burke, can make excellent eye contact and appear perfectly “normal”. It cracks me up when people say something like I know she’s faking because my cousin is blind so I know what real blind people look like” You just can’t fix stupid.

    I’m surprised the worker did not show you the curly ribbon bows that were right underneath the regular bows. Those ones are a good size and a fun texture, so you might have liked them.

    5:14 there is a red SUV stopped behind the paved walkway, waiting on you to cross. The big truck noise is turning behind him. Just thought I’d inform you on what you can’t see.
    Much ❤️

    Awww, man, I'm sorry Antonia passed away. I have seen videos with the two dogs together, so it made me think you still had both of them.
    That's what happens when I watch videos out of order.

    Crosswalks here in Australia have audio cues for crossing.

    Haha, I love you Joy! I laughed so hard at 8:07 ... crotch sniffing time!!! I'm laughing even harder at the thought of you listening to this with voiceover so I'm going to make a little rap song for you on your phone. Arabella sniffing crotchy make sure there's no one watching, she sniffs away without the pay, now where's my kibble you say?

    I hate the fact that people stare at her and wait for her to ask for help ! Or the fact that Joy almost walked into that man (on accident) and he didn’t say anything or ask if she needs assistance .

    If I were manger of a store I would definitely have something that you can feel on the ground to indicate that your in front of the entrance :) like yellow thing in stop lights.

    This is really awesome! I get help with shopping at most stores but in some supermarkets, staff can be very rude! I imagine this would happen anyway though. I now insist on learning independent shopping whenever possible, even though independent shopping is very limited of course unless I do online shopping.

    The lady was so nice helping you she was very shy but got better as it went on! I noticed she touched Bella once or twice but it was so she didn’t step on her (which idk if that’s okay but she did amazing!)

    The person that helped you was so sweet but I couldn’t help but notice she would not stop petting and touching Arabella

    • @JoyRoss

      I think she was trying to touch her to get her attention, I don’t think she meant any harm.
