As an older gentleman who's only been using an MPC (for the first time ever) for a couple of months now, this just looks so much simpler to use than 2.0 (to me anyway) Excellent tutorial 👍
I've only had my live for a month and 3.0 seems like sanity by comparison. So much of the old workflow, while powerful, was an artifact of the old 80s/90s machines. Being able to do the whole song in one sequence like, say, my iPad Logic Pro is so much nicer.
@@Androsynth75 I've just started using the 3.0 today and it really is easier to use than previously. Had a couple glitches here and there but it's a beta, so it's to be expected.
im 58 and have had an mpcx for about 5 years after over 20 years with Logic. Ive literally got close to finishing things with V2, tried V3, freaked out and went back and got loads done. Now after watching this I cannot wait to upgrade again. Ive been pining for an arrange page again since I bought it.
You’re showing this the way I wish the older guys would show it. Showing arranger and popping up the piano roll at the bottom while arranger is open at the top seems like such a small thing but it show us younger folk how much 3.0 is like a Daw. (Logic, Ableton, FL) All the older guys miss this in their videos. Even the way you show changing the track from drum program to something else. They show all this info but somehow the pattern they show it is confusing. Because they are still thinking from the perspective of sequences. It’s like they are talking to the old audience telling them what’s new instead of just showing how people coming from a daw would use this. You explain this so well.
Older dudes are too busy hating. 😂. Thinking they lost the ability to aim tracks at different programs. I’m one of the older dudes but I don’t make videos and didn’t like the original work flow at all. 3.0 is fire.
3.0 is cool yes. Hope they fix the problems though. I wish one could insert and remove and copy bars around directly from it and not requiring to go back and forth to the mqin screen to it in the sequence.
you thinking to deep why not just learn what it has to offer and spend sometime on it , so many producer get caught up in attaching to one workflow and not realize theirs better options if they actually commit to it and for me its a no brainer to always stay up to date
@TeddyRockSteady I would stick to the thing where my beats sound best. Akai understands the average producer will never make it, and they sell us new shit to give us that feeling like this is going to change my beats. Meanwhile, the producer getting placements still using his asr 10 from the 90s . I say master what you got.

People have been complaining so much about v3.4 that they failed to realize that its the same workflow, but they added it visually. You can make sequence by sequence in the arranger, just like normal. My only issue with v3.4 is they have to fix the mutes. Muting samples shouldn't just cut off the sound like someone turned volume off...the sample should play out then mute like it did on v2.15.

Great video Jae, I can see exactly what you mean especially when you bounce to audio and split the audio. I would like the sequence track mutes back because combine that with this and a song is super fast. Make the meat of the song in song mode, each sequence mutes are remembered like it use to be, then to the arranger for linear fine tuning of everything, that would be almost as fast as you can get. You can still covert sequences to a song but each sequences track mutes are not remembered in 3.0 but I hear they are bringing it back.

Good video! I've used both versions of he beta, and have never been the "don't upgrade" guy, but the MPC liberated me from making tracks in a DAW exactly the way you are describing, by copy/pasting parts together while erasing parts as you go.. I now compose/record everything live in track mute mode, and need to be able to have different tracks on every sequence to switch songs while performing - so each sequence contains all the parts of the song. They got rid of this workflow entirely. I like the different track colors, but that's about it. yup but not anything ima use
also I wonder when you got the section where you were bouncing to audio track and there were no audio tracks. I believe you coulda hit export to audio track and it woulda created an audio track. U didn't have to go out and create one.
Would you recommend this mpc for a beginner in beat making?
If you’re a hobbyist, then yeh 3.0 is fun, but if you actually make and release actual music, it’s still too buggy and unstable. I look forward to it being an RC.
Nice video but I do have a question. I see you are working with a single sequence. As a song writer (versus a beat maker), I use multiple sequences in my productions. I write an intro, verse, Bridge, outro, etc. How do I drop other sequences into the Arranger? Thanks
Bruh made a bunch of people upgrade after watching this 😂 akai pay this man
@@hiddenmaterial He also made a lot of people downgrade too. 😂
nothing is complete without the 3.0 controller mode software
