  • Today I hooked my suction nozzle up for the first time to do a operational test on its performance. All in all it works fantastic I have two small leaks that I need to weld up but there an easy fix and not as bad as what I thought I would have for leaks.

    Well done Tye, can't wait to see how it performs with a full length of hose. We've learned a lot from these videos.
    We might return to the 3D printed nozzle since it was definitely a too low a power pump to get material moving. Thanx!

      My plans were to throw engine and pump together on the cheap. The pump I used to test this with I use it on my 4 inch dredge, so it's rather large for a 2 1/2 inch Suction Nozzle. The weight isn't too awful bad but what I have plans on putting together engine and pump should be half the weight or at least a third less. The best chance I have to test out this new nozzle is a buddies permission over on the other side of the state. But I don't know how the water flow is in his creek it's been dry everywhere.

    I have watched several "nozzle" videos and haven't seen any body use a vacuum gauge to fine tune their homemade unit. You can't accurately determine how much suction your unit is generating. Also, a double venturi design makes for a more efficient nozzle.

    • @IowaGoldProspectors
      @IowaGoldProspectors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well you're probably right about my suction accuracy on my nozzle. I work for Construction rental company (for 22 yrs) and I check in pumps almost every day we have this gauge that I use that we put on the front side of the pump it measures suction in Hg its mounted on a round rubber plate. There's been times that I've put my hand in front of the pump to see what that suction feels like and then put the gauge on there and see what it reads. And as far as a double Venturi yeah you can do that but I am in America and I believe in brute force. So when I make an a suction nozzle I make my Jet a quarter larger than required.

      @IowaGoldProspectors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I’d say most likely you could run a 2 inch suction nozzle. Your reduction would be a half inch. If I had more to go on like the specs of your pump, I could go into better detail.

      Sorry I didn’t get a notification that you reposted. I think you could safely run a 2 1/2 inch suction nozzle with this pump. I think if you try to run a 3 inch nozzle you’re going to have issues with lift. I would suggest that you only go up to 2 1/2 inch suction nozzle. It’s a good in between. And you have to use a maximum of 5/8 inside Diameter Jet reduction.
      Your pump puts out 9000 gallons an hour, and a maximum of 39 psi.

    I see nozzles with different size input water. What is the difference? Does the larger input water give more suction?

    • @IowaGoldProspectors
      @IowaGoldProspectors  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It kind of all depends, on a suction nozzle at the point where the pressure incoming water tubing is welded onto the suction nozzle. There is a reduction in pipe size. What that reduction does is increased pressure at that location going in to the nozzle. That reduction is restricting the flow of water thus increasing the pressure. You can have whatever size input, water, plumbing you want but it’s hard to tell by the outside what the restriction is.

    • @IowaGoldProspectors
      @IowaGoldProspectors  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve seen some suction nozzles that are pretty decent in size and they have a tiny little pressure in-line tube. Personally, I like having a larger tube or a pressure in line to whatever size comes off the pump. That’s what I want welded onto the suction nozzle tubing. I believe that gives me more strength if I have a 3 inch nozzle. I’ll have a 2 inch pressure in tubing welded onto that main body assembly. That doesn’t mean I have 2 inch Diameter of water coming into that nozzle. At the point that that incoming pressure tubing is welded onto the main body. I will have a reduction right there. For a 3 inch nozzle your minimum needs to be .75 or three-quarter inch reduction. I usually run a larger pump so I increased my reduction size just slightly maybe to 7/8 or 15/16. That is just something I do. It creates a stronger, sucking nozzle. I know some people reduce the size of the reduction in Jet. That’s why I build my own.

    • @IowaGoldProspectors
      @IowaGoldProspectors  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That reduction will determine what the throttle setting of your pump needs to be.

    • @IowaGoldProspectors
      @IowaGoldProspectors  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oh, one last thing it’s very easy to make your own suction nozzle. All you need is the components. They’re easy to find a drill and a welder. And the determination to accomplish this task. I would rather match a suction nozzle to my pump than to wonder if the nozzle I buy is going to work right.

    Дружище нельзя просто соеденять две трубы под углом . Соеденяй трубы полуатводом с чуть большим диаметром а в месте сваривания трубы развольцуй по внутреннему диаметру полуотвода , струйник - форсунку нужно точно центровать от этого будет зависеть работа гидроэлеватора . И на последок входное отверстие на гидроэлеваторе заужай на 1/4" . Когда ты выполнишь все эти не сложные условия ваш гидроэлеватор будет хорошо работать и проктически не будет засоров .

      I hope I translated to the right language. There’s always better ways of making a Suction Nozzle. There are ways to increase your performance. What I am doing here, and showing a basic construction of a suction nozzle is to give people the basics of making one their selves. A better main body would be a mandrill bent 45. Well, I made this two years ago I went down to my local muffler shop bought about 16 inches of 2 1/2 inch pipe. I had them cut it at a 60° angle rotate those two pieces 180° and re-weld it. If I were to do that pipe again, I would buy a mandrel bent tube. What’s the prices on this? I don’t know it’s gone up because of inflation. Don’t have a freaking clue. I’m pretty sure if you’re looking to make a suction nozzle you should already know, roughly how big things are going to be. The only problem people have is knowing that you need to put a Jet or reduction in on your suction nozzle. I explained well enough how to put your nozzle together, the only thing you need to know is what size your Jet needs to be if you’re going to make a suction nozzle.
