You're right, Scar was the dark side of Simba. I remember the lines very well when Simba said he thought a king should do whatever he wants. Later on the movie, Scar said that he's the king he does whatever he wants. Scar isn't the best villain due to his pride and ego. If he had killed Simba when he was a young cub and did the deed himself, then he would have won.
As an adult, Scar had all of the negative traits that Simba had as a cub (selfishness, arrogance, entitlement), but none of the positive ones (bravery, loyalty, self-awareness). While Simba recognized the flaws in his view of what it meant to be king and worked to better himself, Scar, to his dying breath, held onto that childish view that being king meant getting whatever he wanted. It's no wonder that everyone turned against him in the end.

Failed to see what he was doing to the kingdom causing it to be in a drought and refused to leave the place to find a better home. The reason why his brother was chosen to be king instead of him for these reasons: his brother was the oldest. another reason, Scar couldn't handle the power and the responsibilities.
This was actually a very in depth and insightful explanation to one of my favorite Disney villains. You've explained all the qualities of what makes Scar a despicable villain but also the core reason behind his actions: a lack of love and the inability to understand love. Scar believes that people love and respect Mufasa is because he is big and strong, rather than being a strong, caring and responsible leader who is willing to put others above himself. I kind of wonder if the reason he destroyed the Pride Lands was his way of getting back at society for his perceived rejection and scorn of him. Plus the fact that the woman he loved didn't love him and loved the person he hated most couldn't of helped. I hope they go into more of Scar's backstory in the new Mufasa film so we can get more of his backstory.
Ehh given how phoned in JEJ's performance was I fear Jeremy Irons also would've sounded like he was phoning it in for a paycheck I mean sure he said in interviews that he wanted to return and was disappointed he wasn't asked back but how do we know it wasn't just for the money? Irons is a great actor but I've seen him give phoned in performances before (Just look at Red Sparrow)
To believe it or not I actually like the 2019 scar is more of a sympathetic character because we know his backstory he is less of a coward but still a coward though he chased the herd of prey animals with the hyenas also I do believe that this design is pretty accurate because this is what’s car would look like in real life I’m very Scrawny looking lion

Though i thought that scars death was too fear inducing and well… real I believe the reason for this was in order to deter children and teenagers alike into going down such a path. Ya screwing other ppl over may have short term gains however karma is real what u dish out will come back

This Scar was not only wanting the throne he wanted his brother's wife. Scar's real enemy was not Simba and Mufasa, but his own pride.

Oh yes this version of Scar is more physical. And I like that he actually challenged Mufasa in the past, which would make him even more resentful.
