This is a true representation of Lagos Nigeria where u exposed to hustling at the Early stage of life. Here Education is not a right, it is a privilege. I am still optimistic of a better Nigera
Most parts of America is the same.. As far as learning about "hustling" so young
But on this side, it on an epic scale. At least in America there are still social programs to care for the vulnerable. But such is not seen here.

Lagos is a city of contrast, vibrant music, intellectuals, great wealth, great poverty and struggle, yet 9 out of 10 documentaries on it are like this one showing the harder side of life in it. African and African American people, make moves to own the media, show the more balanced side of our lives. This is bullshit to keep showing Africa as a negative. I want to see the media, in fact I CHALLENGE the media to start showing the intellectuals in Africa, the people who are moving to make life better for Africans, the low-cost housing communities, the cleanliness of Kigali perhaps, and give a better idea of how the community supports one another in so many African countries. Go ahead, be honest with balance and not dishonest with one-sided "documentaries." And, yes, I realize that this is an old documentary..
If you lived below the poverty line, would you want the world to know your plight? Or would you prefer that it were hidden so that others won't feel bad?
Right now, there are quite a number of media entities that report the affluence and successes of African endeavours, so a balanced narrative is available. The onus lies on the researcher though to do the research before jumping to any conclusions.

@@devtest8078 it's not balanced enough. The west media show the bad side a lot more than the good side. The bad sell better than the good and that is why they do more of the bad side. If you compare and contrast the comment on the bad side is more compared to the good side.
Tayo Aina documentaries are classic and detail the best development of young Nigerian that are bringing aspiring youths to the limelight.
4 years in nigeria and i have seen nothing diffrent than this documentary. Yes there are better lives lived but the majority is facing this life in lagos. I have friends living both sides of the life and are very smart and loyal. Its just the struggles that gets me everytime
As I’ve gotten older and non reliant on what’s taught in schools, my heart breaks for the land where life began. How can places that have been a society way longer than the younger more progressive places, like the US and Canada, be so bad off? Greed, theft, capitalism and slavery. Slavery as we know it has “been dead” for centuries but the effects are still very much alive today. Imagine what the world might be like had we not stripped places of their god given resources for our own personal gain. It’s sad and scary to think about, especially if the ones responsible have to answer to their Christian faith in the end.
This sentiment is so typical of white woke millennials, this white guilt savior complex. It’s nothing but another form of white power over POC, as Fanon would say. ‘Oh poor black people, their ancestors were slaves and now look at them’. GTFO with that crap. That sentiment robs us of any agency in our own lives, as if our choices mean nothing and we were destined to be this way based on events of the past, well that just a subtler form of white racism. No, we’re perfectly capable of f"n up our own lives thank you. Our predicaments are the results of our choices just as in any other race. And slavery isn’t dead, just head to Libya where you will find it very much alive and my ancestors in Africa enslaved each other centuries before the Portuguese or any other white colonial power ever did. I’m not saying feeling sympathy to someone of color is inherently racist, when that empathy is targeted at a specific person based on specific circumstances, but when you extrapolate that to a whole race of people then it’s just another form of white power infantalizing and marginalizing our own power and agency over our lives.

Much Ado About Nothing, for 1, how can I be “woke white folk millennial” when my father is a black American and my grandfather is Rwandan and I’m a Gen X’r who is a mom and step mom to 3 millennials. 2, note the “quotations” around slavery, as we know it, is dead and I’m highly aware of the slavery that exists in multiple countries from Thailand to Rwanda to Liberia and even in America, unlike the lies our kids are taught in school. And yes, I do believe that if resources like diamonds, oil, precious metals weren’t stolen by foreigners the country’s that were rich with them could have capitalized on them and be in a better situation now? So what! What’s wrong with that? Finally, my referencing Christianity was facetious at most. I think it’s hilarious that the people who have done the most damage to the world hide behind a God and a faith that preaches love light and purity. Sue me. What did I say that was deserving of such an obtuse tongue lashing? I’m so confused. You took something that was obviously riddled with sarcasm and came at me with assumptions and hatred and you were wrong from you’re first sentence. Why can’t people have a conversation or debate without belittling those they don’t agree with? At the end of the day I wasn’t trying to offend anyone and I never said oh poor black ppl nothing. U did. Slaves came in many races and colors, Irish, Jewish, Chinese, etc etc. Are u assuming my saying “where life began” is code for “poor black people”? Last time I checked, Africa, where life began, right, has many races of people from white to black and everything in between. Or am I wrong about that too. I didn’t bring race into it cuz it would be pretty small minded of me to believe Africa is all black people now wouldn’t it?

What a beautiful country and people, strong willed and overall seem very happy. Would love to visit Africa one day if only to whiteness some of the oldest civilizations on planet earth. May god bless this land and it's people.

She said she had to start taking care of herself at thirteen. She said she can't keep going to her mom for things because she don't have anything. At thirteen your supposed to depend on your parents. You didn't ask to be here. If you don't have nothing and your poor why are you having kids?? 10 kids no less..I wouldn't want to put any innocent kid through hardships. Did you have kids just so they can take care of themselves. Isn't that the parents job. What was the point in having children to begin with if you have nothing to offer them except a hard painful life.

If the leaders and the privileged people in Nigeria fail to provide a positive future or escape for these under class group of people then the future of Nigeria will be permanently jeopardised. In this report, it is sad to see lots of young people not being productive. My heart aches for the country.

It is so strange....when that girl Onyinye , came on the video, the very first thing that came to my mind was "runway Model". She has all the hallmark qualities for that job = looks, personality (which is key), language skills, grace, and stature. This Documentary Is Old Can Tell
I hate it when I can't hear the narrator in documentaries on here. I know I could probably turn the subtitles on since he's speaking English, but I can never get them to turn all the way off when I do. I have to manually do it with every video I watch after until TH-cam puts another update out, then they go away. Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but it sucks. Idk, maybe I'm doing something wrong 🤷🏼♀️. Never was really good with technology or apps 😂.

Lagos is an extremely noisy place. Millions of people in a very small area.
@@smbot1991 yeah but the narrator is added after filming, they could easily lower the volume on the main video while raising the volume on the narrator. Also, usually the people in documentaries are given mics to wear right near their mouths so the recording of their voice is louder than the recording of any background sounds (or the sound recorded from the mic can even be amplified later). I am disappointed too as this seems interesting but is basically impossible to watch.
