    DESCRIPTION: A kiwi fruit intervention was found to improve bowel function in those suffering from irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. This was accomplished without side-effects such as heart attacks and stroke associated with the primary drug prescribed to treat the condition, tegaserod.     I have to say … after eating 1/2 to 1 kiwi a day , I stopped having ,apparently , no more diverticulitis episodes. Not to mention trips to the ER with pretty bad abdominal pain. No more antibiotics too . I followed what I heard a research doctor lecturing on you tube that taking a kiwi a day feeds the critters in your bowel and improve your health in that area of the body. Boy he wasn’t kidding. I haven’t seen a doc or call one about my abdomen over 1 yr . And my home fecal test are neg . I’ll be seeing my doc for physical soon and sharing this.

    You can't really box IBS in because it's basically the "too hard to define" label doctors place on a conditition that varies in different people. Some people have different levels of IBS, various symptons and different trigger foods too. :)

    Dr. Greger, In all this excitement over kiwifruit I accidentally an entire Kiwifruit! What should I do? I'm really scared this has never happened before.

    I wonder if these findings were ever replicated or if any other fruits were compared and have the same effect.
