It’s maybe even unfair to suggest he’s a basic solid 10 he’s maybe got more to offer but I don’t know what more he has to do for his club to get noticed for selection. While 2023 is a long term project for Scotland this is the most exciting Scottish world cup in the professional era. We have never had a squad with this much quality in depth before. Fully expect to see them reach the QF.
Expect away, Scotland's group is tougher than it appears. Bonus points will be very important. Looking ahead though, Scotland's youth is impressive - something like half the squad won't be 30 when the 2023 RWC comes around. The future is bright!
I'm uncertain on the future of Scotland since de u20 world cup, I don't think it will be relegated, but I see it difficult for Scotland improving results in the Six Nations and in the World Cup.

8:30 Not quite true. Japan's last game before Scotalnd is against Samoa on October 5th. Yes it's a longer turnaround than Scotland's but not a "nearly two whole weaks".
Also worth noting Scotland's previous match is against Russia, who they ought to be able to beat with a second-string team... especially considering most of those second-string players got a lot of game time in the 6 Nations due to all the injuries.

I'm not particularly excited about this World Cup and while I'd be disappointed to lose to Japan (they're too open, and one thing you don't want to be against Scotland is open), I'll be in shock if we don't go out in the QF. We're good enough to be a threat to ruin Ireland's World Cup nowhere near good enough to be listed among the any of the contenders for the trophy. Our players and manager still have too much to learn, and we lost the opportunities to create partnerships and build familiarity through an entire 6 Nations campaign ruined by injuries. For Scotland this tournament isn't the culmination of 4 years, it's preparation for the 2020 6 Nations, a competition which we could look to win.
