i absolutely have to co-sign whale-watching as a 'do before you die' activity for everyone. my family hails originally from the Caribbean, and taking the ferry between the smaller islands was always a magical experience when the whales/dolphins showed up. for such awe-inspiring creatures, they really are very silly things, and they usually leave you feeling like they were (also) struggling to break the language barrier.

I did the snorkeling in Silfra and thoroughly enjoyed it! And it is in sweet water ; not in seawater. The water is originating from the glaciers and is so filtered by nature that you can drink it while swimming :) We did also rafting which was a very accessible adventure for families with teenagers. Besides the puffins we did see polar foxes which are smaller than the European species and usually (depending of age and season ) off white over grey to black colored. They are absolutely adorable!

I have really enjoyed your vids...however I havent heard you talk about the Icelandic horses...Iceland is quite famous in the horse world for this breed of horse. I own one here in Washington state... he is the joy in my life. They are an amazing bred, fun to ride with an amazing history.

A definite must. Icelandic horses are incredible, and lovely to ride. From beginners to experienced riders, there are tours and days out throughout Iceland. You don't need to bring specialist clothes , and you will get too see some wonderful landscapes and bond with these wonderful animals.

I visited Iceland in August 2018 and fell in love with the country. I’m actually thinking about moving there once I retire from the military in a few years, but not living there “full time” if that makes sense. I’m an avid traveler and plan to travel half the year each year upon retirement. I am working on learning the language. One thing that broke my heart is the disrespectful tourists. You have this amazing “green” pure otherworldly beautiful country and people are tossing trash around and throwing their cigarette butts on the ground. It infuriates me to no end. I have to ask, have you met Bjork yet? It’s rumored she lives in Reykjavik and walks around town quite a bit.

LOVE the list! We were able to do so much the week we were there... but only managed to do a few of the things on your list. Walking on a Glacier would have to be my favorite of the things we were able to do.
I really wanted to do the Ice Caves but we ran out of time. It was on our list for this coming Christmas, but doesn't look like we are going to be able to due to Covid. :(
Again! Love your Channel! Wish I had known about you before we went... I haven't disagreed with anything you've mentioned so far... Keep posting!

The ice cave tours are, indeed, awesome. :-) Puffins are small. I've never held one. According to Google, they are, on average, about 12 inches and weigh less than a pound.

Geological features of places to visit are always a good reason to travel for me. I'm curious how I would respond to those winter nights and summer days near the Arctic circle. I used to be mildly affected by overcast/ gray skies. Then I went to school in New Hampshire, USA. I learned quickly that during the winters in N.H., often the clearest sunniest days were often the coldest. So that association overcast skies and mild mood swings got conditioned out of me. I'm also naturally a nocturnal person. I wonder how I would feel about LONG nights.

I was in Iceland for New Years 93/94. One thing was there was no Interweb.. research was limited to some coffee table books.. a National Geographic hour documentary.. and my local library had a "travel section" where they asked patrons to drop off brochures of things when they returned from vacations. I think back now... sure the web is great... buhhhhtttt... it leaves less room for discovery of things.. didnt know what to expect then... was nice going and having so much disvovery...

Hi, thanks for this fun channel! I think we might've stayed in your home when we visited Reykjavik a few years ago. Did you live nearby the Danish embassy then? We had a great time and Iceland is still my daughter's favorite vaca to this day.

Puffin watching at Látrabjarg is really nice. Done it twice, but why does nobody mentions that puffin's are at sea during the day ? And just come up at 2100H or later to feed their young? At noon you'll see many 10 birds, at midnight thousands. And it is still light.
Love your channel and your smile. Keep up your bubbly channel about Iceland 🇮🇸

My wife and I were in Iceland last year August 16-29 and we missed the Puffins by 2 weeks. I would love to return and see them in 2021. Where are the best places to see them that are NOT in the Westfjords.

Most tour companies go to these places. You would have to take several different tours to get to them.

Do they have swimming pools in Iceland do they do a lot of swimming there? I was stationed with a guy who was stationed in Iceland who said that in the late eighties black airmen stationed in Iceland were not allowed off base if it is true why ? It’s something to research and maybe do a video about

About the lava caves.. nice colors.. are they natural or are the lights gelled to give it color?
Regarding stalagmites vs stalagtites... a teacher way back when told us.. the easiest way to remember? "Tites Go Down" (if he said that in today's world there'd be h.r. and politically incorrect police all over him ;)

@@AllThingsIceland planning on coming up there when C19 becomes a footnote in history. What are the best times to see A Roaring Bored Cialis? Saw those lights there in 94 but it was from the city and kinda murky. I know its expensive but I'm doing diligence in planning. You live there. I live in Costa Rica. Let's house swap for a week ;)
