Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of Tekken 5. I play as Lee Chaolan.
Tekken 5 was a game I skipped back in the day. And I'm disappointed with myself for that, because Tekken 5 is, as Lee Chaolan would say: Excellent!
Make no mistake, Tekken 5 is an amazing Tekken game. It has a large character roster, with a great selection of classic characters. It has a solid, fast-paced fighting system which feels almost perfect. The graphics are outstanding and the music is some of the best to come out of a Tekken game. I cannot fault this game at all!
And to top it all off, Tekken 5 contains an abundance of content. The stand out bits of content include the all new customization feature, which allows you to customize your characters appearance. As well as that, there is another new mode similar in fashion to 'Tekken Force' from the previous Tekken games; here it's called 'Tekken : Devil Within'. Not only that, but you also get Arcade perfect ports of Tekken 1, 2 & 3!! Unbelievable!!

MattinaBird later ps2 games has great graphics and so did even the GameCube. Even though graphics are even better, they’re never gonna be the jump in quality that the ps1 and n64 to ps2 era were again
Not the best actually tekken 4 looked a little better and soul cailuber seris was the best looking ps2 games
armor wolf 792 which game looks the beat is subjective but yeah the SC had good graphics

@@garrettspencer3887 All the AI does in MK2 is punish you. Which is why the boss battles are so hard and you have to keep using bs strategies to beat them. Playing the game just feels like a chore now. I’m not saying that the game is bad, it’s just that there are much better ones out there

Best part of this game for me was beating jinpachi, that stomach fireball killed me hundreds of times!
+mileshe36 Yep, the trick is to be extremely aggressive and just keep attacking him so he doesn't get a chance to use it!

I know a lot of people say Tekken 3 is the best, but for me, it was 5. The roster was amazing, bringing back old characters like Wang, Baek, and Bruce, and introducing some of the most kick ass Tekken characters to date. The gameplay of 5 was truly the best of the series imo. The juggling felt more fine tuned and you can experiment so much with it using characters' new moves, plus the new recovery movements made the gameplay that much more fast paced. I hate what Namco did with 6 though, the bound mechanic was fucking terrible and made combos way too long and gave players too many ways of starting a juggle.
J. Han tekken 3 was better in my opinion but yeah tekken 5 is easily the second best..
1. tekken 3 had alot New good Charakters (julia, jin, xioayu, bryan, mukujin, hwoarang and so on..) and bonus Charakters like gon and Dr. B.. yeah there was missing alot Charakters from tekken 2 but yeah thats not the point.. espacially cause almost every New Charakter from tekken 2 where 1:1 copies from allready exsisting Charakters..
so it was a good think to put them out and take them later back and then there got completly New move sets..
2.the music was way better.. tekken 3 music is like the best music ever.. i play tekken Tag 2 only with tekken 3 Soundtrack cause the music from that game gives me really hard headaches
3. tekken 3 was all about fun..
i dont like it that tekken is since tekken 4 so serios.. i mean a story was there since tekken 1 but that there need to talk that much now etc.. and cutscenes
in tekken 3 i was hyped for every ending cause there was so diffrent everytime and most of the time really funny like gon's ending or mokujin's ending.. now there are way to serios.. and there could tell a story without talking one single word.. (i know there are still funny endings but in tekken 3 it was almost every ending funny now only a few)
4. tekken force from tekken 3 was the best force mode from all other games.. tekken 4 force was really damn crap.. and tekken 5 this jin story thing.. was more fun then 4's but still not a think u could play shortly and have simply just fun..
5. im not sure anymore cause its along time ago since i played tekken 5 but i think with tekken 5 it started that u have unlocked everything from the very beginning.. (when not, ignore the point)
but i think to unlock Charakters was the most fun! i remember as a kid i deleted my files so often just to re-unlock everything again.. why u should play the game when its from the Start on allready finished..
k u could play when u are really interrestet in the story.. but how i said i loved the less story endings way more as the endings today
and the last point 6. i loved tekken ball (i really did)
i liked actuelly that there tried to do New stuff.. and tekken ball was New and cool!
even tekken bowling from ttt1 was not as Bad..
now there just gave up and we will only See
story and arcade mode and online ofcorse
even when i count many thinks against tekken 5 i need to say that tekken 3 is the only tekken thats better then tekken 5 ..
tekken 5 has also good things..

the Charakters were cool! devil jin for the first time was already a really cool thing i mean now its normal what were a tekken without him.. but u know devil jin since tekken 3 and now u are able to play him how cool is that!!

Nina was such a badass..
i guess she could be still a badass but i just dont like the way she's played now.. hope there changed her better again in tekken 7

There were only three characters introduced in the original Tekken 5 (being Asuka, Raven and Feng) while two more were added in for Dark Resurrection (Lili and Dragunov).
So out of every game in the series, Tekken 5 introduced the least amount of new characters, with only three being introduced (or five if you include DR).
I totally agree and you forgot to mention the brilliant OST. This game is such a gem.

Personally to me this game had the best intro, showed high quality scenes and the music was hype as fuck.

I love the stages. Very beautiful and creative. I love rooftop stages. Mortal kombat 9 has one too and it's wonderful but the one in this game gives me more the feeling of being on a roof. Maybe partly due to the fact it's 3D.

That ending with Lee Chaolan was indeed excellent. He's a pimp having all these hot girls at his mansion like he's livin' the life of Hugh Hefner. And he made Heihachi his slave. This is just hood justified.

Excellent playthrough and commentary as always MrGstar ! Lee is also one of my favorites, I really love his quick snap kick, I think it's forward and O to do it, really fast, and very effective against asshole AI.
+dennisbergkamp17 Yes that's a great kick! I don't think I did it in this playthrough though, I must've forgot about it. It's got that nice 'whip' sound to it as well :)
I'm surprised that you haven't played a Soul Calibur game or posted a video of them yet. It's another great Namco fighting game franchise which also has the character Yoshimitsu. He was in Tekken 1st, but you'll get a laugh from fighting him on Soul Calibur. He tends to give himself a ringout if you're close to the edge of the stage while fighting him.

What type of tv and AV or rca cables do u use to play your PlayStation 2 games. Anything special for better graphics?
+Hayden Bass I played this on an emulator so the graphics are enhanced. But normally when playing my PS2 I just use the standard AV cables (red, white & yellow), but the graphics are terrible. I have generic branded component cables for it, but it causes fuzzy graphics - I think you need the genuine PS2 component cables for better quality.
+MrGSTAR321 OK thanks i figured that you were on an emulator. On my HD TV the ps2 look absolutely terrible but on an old "fat" tv it looks pretty good. I think the HD TV trees to upscale it or something. the AV cables work just fine for me.

+TheExclusiveMan I don't think it's necessary. I don't really use Akuma in Street Fighter games anyway. It would have been better if they just included another Tekken character.

Lee since tekken 2 have a combo where you can beat the whole game in any difficulty spamming that combo over and over again. Its Down + circle, circle, circle. The IA is to dumb to def that combo.

+MrCacucaca I haven't really been following it to be honest. I'm more inclined to Mortal Kombat & Tekken. Though I do like Street Fighter games too. SF3: 3rd Strike has to be one of, if not the best fighting game ever made - simply because of parries. I still usually play a few online matches of 3rd Strike everyday on my PS3.
