  • Bluesman Kirk Fletcher shares some guitar tips on playing alone and accompanying yourself.
Kirk also shares a lick he picked up from players like Cornell Dupree and Hugh McCracken. Kirk chats about his new guitar from the kind people at ‪@gibsonguitar‬ It's been a long time in the making and Kirk could not be more proud. It is a 1959 Gibson ES 345 Murphy Lab custom made to Kirk's specifications. #gibson #murphylab #gibsoncustomshop

Whereas you may feel like a novice, that thought will not help you tune in to your own capacity. Kirk felt like a novice at some point. What set him free is dropping that and believing in himself. We all proceed at a pace that protects our integrity.
This is where Kirk comes into his own as a teacher. He has already paid that dues, only to find that it was never necessary to pay in the first place. Just a self-judgement, that is just not of any use. It's a personal put down.
When you drop that, and just allow yourself to simply express, you play like a child, with no judgement. Judgement is an adult domain, and it's fucked up.
So, my friend, get loose. That's when music really happens. And, trust me, it will flow and make you cry with joy.
      Kindest regards.

PS: Never abandon any kind of music my friend. You can cross it over and use it all, even classical, even choristry. If it's a tone, it's a tool. If it's harmony, it's a tool.
